I guess I was accepted by my new friends and King. He doesn't deserve to be called my friend, not now at least.
Anyway, we ate all my cookies after we finished our food, and by 'we' I mean mostly me. Everyone else was full, but a few of the boys ate some of the car and duck cookies.
After that, the day wasn't hard, except for the fact that King was suddenly interested in me.
And by interested, I mean, he was trying to grab my attention.
I'd made it my mission to ignore him unless absolutely necessary. I don't do assholes.
And no, I'm not jealous of a disrespectful thot who managed to keep King's attention. I was just being petty because... it's my nature?
Okay, whatever, a little jelly. But not really, you know, I was just kinda angry he ditched me or whatever.
The car ride back to the house was pretty silent, but King kept glancing up at me from time to time. I pretended not to notice it because if I'm something he can play with and drop as soon as he sees another toy, then he'll be the same for me.
"Alright, Perk, what's up?" He said as soon as we walked into the main hall of the house.
I just tried to walk past him while looking at my phone, but he blocked me and I crashed into him.
"What's your problem?! If you want to bother someone so much, try Kelly." I hissed. He stood still for a second taking his finger and tracing something on the thumb of that same hand. So what if he and Kelly broke up? I still had every right to be mad.
"So this is about Kelly." He said.
"I told you, we broke up." He stopped tracing whatever he was tracing on his thumb.
"If you laugh and play around and break a plate, then tell the plate you aren't laughing anymore, does that fix the plate?" I asked, then walked upstairs and left King down there.
As soon as I got to my room, I mentally prepared myself to handle dinner. I practiced walking in, sitting down, greeting everyone, eating quickly and quietly, and leaving.
I practiced that for about an hour until I had it perfect and Jessie called me down for dinner.
I was replaying the actions in my head as I entered the dining hall until I noticed no one was there, no one other than King.
I was prepared to ignore King, but with him being the only one in the room, which suspiciously looked dimmer than last time and had my name spelled with petals on the floor, I didn't think that was possible.
"I know I broke the plate, but I'm trying my best to fix it here. I know girls like cheesy romantic stuff." And it's true. I'm a sucker for romantic things, but only when in books and in movies, and just not with me.
It gets awkward real quick.
"This is sweet, King, but where're your parents." I looked around to still not see them.
"They had some business to attend to, it'll just be us for the next two days," King said as I sat down, and for some reason, being in a house alone with King for two days excited me.
But, realizing I wouldn't actually be alone with King for two days numbed the excitement. I swear, my hormones be more bipolar than my dreams sometimes.
"Perky, I really am sorry. I was just really excited to see her again after all this time." King said.
"But, why couldn't you have texted me and told me you had something else to do that day. I would've totally understood." I said, picking up my fork. This queen's having alfredo tonight, my good sirs. Oh! And is that shrimp?! I've got to hunt their cook down and praise him for these cooking skills. Oh, but yea, King and him ditching me.
"I- I don't know, man, I was just being irresponsible," King said letting out a huff. I looked up and realized he had shrimp on his plate too.
"Off-topic, but, you eat shrimp with alfredo but not on its own?" I asked. Ya girl needs to know, okay? So I have something to tease him about in the most inappropriate times.
"Uh- no, actually. I kinda was just in a rush and told the maids to get two plates of shrimp alfredo. You can have the shrimp if you want." He started to separate his shrimp from his alfredo and I gladly took every piece he set aside. Except for one.
"Aren't you going to get that one?" He asked, pointing his fork to the last tiny shrimp left on his plate.
"I think you should just try it. Even if you already have." I said, nodding for him to go along with it.
"But I-"
"It'll make me a lot less sad about you ditching me." I sang. Yes, I knew it was petty, but I wanted to see King try shrimp.
He grumbled before picking up the shrimp with his fork and taking a nibble at it. He didn't do anything and even swallowed it.
"Nope, mister, the whole thing," I said.
"Perky, ple-"
"I remember this thing happening, you know, this weekend where you kinda ditched me to-" King shoveled the whole thing in his mouth, luckily, these shrimp didn't have those shells on their tails.
I saw King chew, then his brow furrowed, then I saw his eyes grow wide and he quickly swallowed it before gagging and doubling over from the side of his chair.
He reached for what looked like Sprite and gulped it down, I heard sizzles as he drank, definitely Sprite. But, he reacted pretty well. I would've tried to spit it up and wipe my saliva off my tongue with my hands.
Childish, I know, but I just can't help it.
"Ugh," King groaned, "I hope you're happy now, Perky." He had another sip of Sprite.
"Very happy, your highness." I smiled, then started eating my food. He gagged, not threw up, I still had my appetite.
"I think this plate has had all the fixing she needs. All is forgiven." I smiled before stuffing a forkful of pasta in my mouth.
"Good, now we can be friends again." He said as he glanced up at me once more before eating. I wouldn't have gone that far, but I wasn't gonna tell him that.
After all, I didn't want to have to fix a broken plate.
