The next morning, I woke up on a sofa in the arcade next to King. Oops. I think we fell asleep watching a horrible episode of The Bachelor. Or something, I don't know, I was just really tired and put whatever popped up first on Netflix.
"Hey," I nudged King. My head was in the crook of his neck and we were both trapped in a black, fluffy blanket. Maybe I should stay here for a while.
"Wake up, we'll be late for school," Sometimes I hate my mouth, but unfortunately I like my friends more than I hate my mouth.
"King," I said, trying to get this man to wake up. If his breath wasn't directly on my head, I would've thought he was dead.
"Hmm?" He answered me, mostly asleep.
"Come on, we've got school today," I ripped the blanket off of us and a gush of cool wind hit us.
"Right," He said, rubbing his face with his hand. I was already up and stretching, God, sleeping with your legs to your chest sure makes you feel loose in the morning, not to mention that my legs were sore from my jog yesterday.
"See you in a bit," I waved to him as we got close to my room. He nodded and waved at me as well.
I went to my room and bathed and put on a cream body shirt with marble decorative buttons on it, a blue jean jacket on top, and gray jeans with black jordans. I buttoned the jean jacket because the body-shirt felt too revealing, if needed, I'd just take off the jean jacket and tie it around my waist.
Then I put on tiny silver hoop earrings and, of course, cleaned and put on my glasses. I hadn't had them when I went on my jog yesterday, I'd left them in the bathroom.
King was waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs with an English muffin. He was eating one and holding one.
"Here, we don't have time for breakfast today," When he opened his mouth, I could see dough-like substance and crumbs of the muffin. Gross. Whatever.
"Thanks," I said as I took the muffin and bit into it.
Even their muffins taste like heaven, the cook must've sold their soul to the devil.
I finished the muffin by the time we took off to get to the school. I ate some chocolate on the way too.
Anyway, we arrived at school in the middle of 3rd period, I didn't get to get my morning dose of the Kingdom.
"Bro, King, you're never late, what happened?" Deon said, raising and lowering his eyebrows. Ew.
"We fell asleep in the arcade and didn't wake up until a while ago," King said.
"Sure," J dragged out the word and he and Deon chuckled.
"Boys," I rolled my eyes and huffed.
"Kayla's the one you're going to be annoyed with, she's going to be drowning you in questions," J laughed.
"Whatever," I said.
Olli asked me what happened in 4th period too, she got the same answer Deon and J did.
I don't know if she believed me or not, but she didn't press on the matter and showed me a hilarious TikTok.
Next, was time for lunch. I don't know if they eat Sonic's every day, but I don't think so.
"Which two pieces of chicken do you like?" Kayla asked as I entered the lunchroom. They weren't sitting down today, they were standing.
"Leg and thigh," I said. Chicken today? I applaud.
Then we walked outside of the school and to the back. A few students were sitting outside eating, but the majority were inside the lunchroom.
"Alright, why were you and King late?" Kayla asked once the sun hit my face.
"We were in the arcade last night and we fell asleep on the couch. We didn't wake up until mid-3rd period." I answered.
"Mhm," Kayla analyzed me but other than that, left me alone. And the boys said she'd drown me with questions.
We waited a few minutes for the chicken to arrive, we got Popeyes, and dug in.
There were sides of mashed potatoes, macaroni, green beans, biscuits, and their iconic red beans and rice.
Only Deon and Nia had some of the green beans but everyone else devoured the rest of the food. We were all sitting around like well-fed pigs by the time 5th period rolled around.
The day went smoothly and nothing went wrong. It was a fun day of failed TikToks, funny, dirty, jokes, and an empty teacup.
Honestly, we don't get to enjoy being kids all that much because of all the drama, but when there are days without any drama, you can just enjoy being a kid, and that's what we did.
Not to mention, I only had one week before Mom and El and Emy would come live with me for the weekend, it'd be fun and a fresh gust of wind to see people who were around when times were much simpler for me.
I'm glad I took Emy's place, she wouldn't be able to deal with all this, no doubt by now she'd be in deep trouble with a lot of people for overstepping her boundaries.
As soon as she stepped in the limo, she would've thought she deserved everything that was given to her.
She would've started believing she was better than Kelly, Lira, Kayla, and every other close female to King.
And she, much like Kelly, can hold the perfect image for as long as you let her, they would've wanted her gone but not wanted her gone at the same time.
I think it's better for everyone like this.
