5 Chapter 4 The beginning of forever

"I'm sorry sir, please you can't go in..... the chairman isn't available to see anyone" Chen Xin struggled to keep him away from getting to the office

It was Juan Lan; he stormed angrily into Fan Cooperation yelling to see the chairman

Everyone was aware of their severed family ties and how much the chairman loathed him but that wasn't enough to stop his next exhibit

"Fan Mei !!" he screamed as he barged into the large conference room, it was filled with the heads of each department. Everyone sat awestruck at this mans somewhat foolishness

No one ever dared to address the chairman that way and he.... Just what did he think he was screaming his name everywhere. Of course he had it coming

"Sir please stop this, you are making a ruckus this afternoon" Chen Xin protested still trying to contain him enough to take him out and avoid loosing his job but his anger couldn't be quenched... not by fear, not even the fear of Fan Mei; or so he thought

Fan Mei the complete reverse of the lunatic before him sat collected and reserved as if unmoved by this insane person before him

"I tried to stop him sir, believe me I..." Xin stammered as the chairmans glare landed on him but was immediately cut short

He stopped him and signalled for him to exit the room; but just him not the others who filled the room, was there something he wanted them to know?

He turned fully facing Juan Lan, he let out a wicked grin; despite his age he still looked new as gold

"To what do I owe this visit?" he asked sarcastically

Lan was provoked, of course he knew why he was here but this sudden act... for what; suddenly he felt like a fool but he wasn't stepping down... at least not without a fight

"Fan Mei..." he repeated again this time loud enough for everyone to hear. The chairman's grin immediately turned sour. This was too much disrespect

He didn't retort but let him continue

"How dare you!! He is your son and the true heir to this company, and she is....." he stopped as he saw him raise an eyebrow at him, it was like he dared him to say his next words

"Is that what brings you here today?" he asked still unmoved

Juan Lan stood there totally embarrassed, he couldn't answer

"If he feels this possession is his then I'll let him fight for it" Mei finished with a light chuckle

He stood there now speechless and rooted to the ground, this wasn't the way he had envisioned this day. He hoped Fan Mei would flare up and reveal all those dark secrets of his so he can be on the winning side

Fan Mei stood up graciously, flashed a smile at the board before him.

It didn't feel alright at all, that smile sent shivers down everyone's spine; Lan wasn't exempted. He strode towards him before pronouncing loudly

"Take your infidel child with you" he adjusted his collar slightly and made to move before Lan spoke up

"How do you think a competition like this is possible? She can't win against him" he was confident

"Its on, may be the best person win" he walked out without another word leaving the entire room in despair

South California; Fountain Clinic

"Elaine.... Elaine White" I stammered as I rushed into the hospital. "Cardiology ward" I added as I saw the nurse scramble about her book to find her name

I guessed right, it had to be an attack again, there were so many questions on my mind; why did she suddenly return? why did she call me first, what was she up to again??

Now wasn't the time to connect these tiny almost impossible dots, I shook the thoughts away as I ran to her room

I stopped for a split second as I got closer. she wasn't alone, so I wasn't her only resort afterall. I hesitated before pushing the door open, I was taken aback by the sight before me

Elaine... No, not Elaine.. someone who bore a striking resemblance as her lay sleeping on the bed. Living with White for almost two years made me know her anywhere in the world, I was positive that wasn't her.

I breathed deeply waiting for the worst; nothing could possibly happen I kept telling myself that but I knew enough to believe Elaine was capable of anything

He was wearing a black suit, it reeked of money. His cufflinks were extremely fancy, I knew money when I saw it, I could smell it in this guys case. I walked silently and stood beside him

I took a deep breath before bending over to examine this impersonated version of Elaine. I looked for her large birthmark which usually stood at her left jaw, it was gone. Her favorite piercing at her nose was gone too; I knew her better than that, nothing was capable of getting Elaine take out her nose ring yet this person lying here was the complete reverse

She seemed.... angelic, a perfect contrast of her. I stuttered a bit as I stepped back in shock knocking down the tray in the room. The neatly arranged medications now lay sprawled all over the ground, that wasn't my only problem. The room became chilly, not in a nice way though

I stopped picking the drugs and looked up, for the first time since I entered it seemed like this man noticed my presence, his presence was domineering; not that I cared as the only thing on my mind was who lay on that bed

He scoffed arrogantly not even hiding the irritation he felt. He made the comparison between me and trash seem way easier.

"Clutz"

I ignored this and scrambled around the floor trying to gather the meds

An hour later I stood accomplished as I dumped the disorganized tray in its original position. He still hadn't said any word to me.. at least nothing nice not minding the fact it was just the two of us in that room

"Do you know this person?" I finally summoned enough courage to speak up

There was no reply

Did he just leave me unanswered?? I felt the immediate urge to punch him in the face but quickly fashed those thoughts away

"You could at least speak to me since its just the two of us in here" I moved to settle into a chair at the other end of the room

"I don't want to talk to you" he said without batting and eyelid. I stopped in my movement to watch this pathetic snub. He sat, his eyes fixated on the person before him, he just seemed to shut the whole world out

Her skin was a pale shade of white, her lips strawberry red and her hair a nice shade of royal blue, she was beautiful just not my Elaine

I needed to get away from this person beside me before I took the chance of strangling him.

I took my headphones out of my still messy bag and fixed them turning the volume to the highest level, I sank deeper into the very comfy chair before taking my phone up to take a look at myself

My hair was a mess, my lipstick stood smeared on my face and my favorite ruby earrings had gone missing, or just one of it.

"Jerk" I cursed loudly as I remembered that guy from last night. I didn't even get his name.

"I guess its all looks" I continued loudly not noticing the piercings glares from that person in the same room as me. Perhaps if I didn't have my headphones on then I'd know he thought I was saying those horrid things to him

I jerked suddenly as my phone rang aloud, I stared at the caller ID displaying before picking it up

"Now isn't the time Chen, I am in a bit of a situation..."

"Han Xiaolian, come back home..... please" she sobbed over the phone

That voice set all my defenses on fire, I felt helpless then. Only one person called me that, and she had to do it crying? I didn't have the heart to refuse her, as soon as I got things cleared out with Elaine I was definitely flying home

"Mom..." I replied almost immediately but she was gone already. I heard loud sobs from the other end and finally a beep

It took me an hour to get all the courage I needed to take my next actions and he sat there stealing glances at me momentarily while scoffing loud enough for me to hear

If I was really gonna take this risk I needed to be strong

"I'll need a flight with first class tickets, the first flight that leaves to China tomorrow" I heaved heavily

I could feel him smile from the other end. He seemed to be happy since things were going his way. Knowing I'll remain unperturbed by his threats he had to go through her... the only person I really cared about

"You're finally getting your senses back Xiaolian, I'm glad" he mocked at me

I wasn't cut out for his jokes and he knew it

"Fen Mei don't you dare mess with me" he was my grandfather but that instant I couldn't care less about him

I saw that aloof face finally move, from the corner of my eye I could note that name piqued his interest a lot, I didn't care

The only thing on my mind then was how to kill Fan Mei.
