Kabuki class (Session 3) "Abilities of the soul: Part 2"

"Ah, welcome again my curious students." Said Tamari as he cleaned off the board.

"We will be picking up from where we left off last week." He said.

Tamari picked up a piece of chalk; and with it, he drew a sword and several other swords with different symbols.

"Now, can any of you tell me what Yunsei is?" He asked.

A child raised their hand. "When you imbue a weapon." They answered.

"Correct." Replied Tamari. "But it's a bit more than that. Can anyone tell me what is the inner meaning of Yunsei?"

The class fell silent; Tamari looked around the room only to be met by confused and puzzled faces.

He sighed; turning to the chalkboard. "Yunsei is the-"

"The phenomenon when the innermost aspects of an individual's soul are brought to physical being." Said a voice.

Tamari stopped. "Y-yes, exactly. Who-" He turned around; noticing a man who was about twenty seven in his doorway.

He was five foot eleven; his hair was black with blue tips; it was short and slick, sticking out in a ruffled manner. His irises were a dark purple, but his pupils were shaped like white seven sided stars. He wore a blue polo shirt and a purple tie with a black sweater vest. As well as dark brown khaki pants with slick dark blue sneakers.

"U-uraken-senpai." Stuttered Tamari.

The man stepped into the room; with a grin across his face he walked up to the desk, turning to the class.

"The term Yunsei originated from the words "Yunīku" and "Tokusei"; meaning unique and trait. Truly expressing the concept of individuality within the soul." He said.

He turned to Tamari; Uraken's starry eyed gaze looking through him like glass.

"Hello, little Tamari..." He said softly.

Tamari's expression turned from one of calm to one of anxiety. "H-hi Uraken..." He answered.

"No need to be so formal, Tamari." He replied. "You can address me as Mr. Tenshiki".

"Ha ha ha..." Laughed Tamari nervously. He turned to the class. "You all know Mr. Tenshiki..."

"Of course we do!" Replied the class.

"He helps me with my homework!" Said a student.

"He takes care of the school gardens." Added another.

"And the school animal farm!"

"He's won the best teacher award for two years in a row!" Cheered another.

Uraken raised his hands, calming the uproar of applaud. "Aw, you flatter me. I surely do not deserve such praise."

"But it's true!" Groaned the class.

"Ah, but how can the night shine without the stars to light it?" He said. "You are all the stars of youth; making this dark world one of endless possibility."

The students eyes sparkled with wonder listening to the sweet tones of Uraken.

Tamari nervously wrote on the blackboard. He thought.

"Students!" Tamari shouted. "Let me demonstarte-"

"Tamari?" Said Uraken.

He stopped, turning to him. "Y-yes, Uraken?"

Uraken held up his hand. "May I have my glasses back...?" He politely asked.

Tamari gripped his glasses defiantly. "But they make me look so cool!" He quivered.

"Hm, perhaps..." Said Uraken. "But were you really just trying to look like me?" He grinned.

Tamari turned beat red. "N-no!"

Uraken grinned smugly. "Is that so?" He said.

He walked out to middle of the classroom, turning back. "Well, as we all know... Imitation is the greatest form of flattery..." He said.

The class laughed; causing Tamari to turn even redder with embarrassment. "I-"

"Now let's continue with the lesson." Said Uraken, interrupting Tamari.

He placed on the glasses; completing his look. Tamari felt his face.

Uraken walked around the classroom as he spoke.

"The process of Yunsei is about so much more than just strengthening your weapon; it's about connecting with it. Yunsei is not that of physical strength, but one of self strength." He said.

"A weapon is only as strong as its wielder; and such is the same with Yangshi and Yinko."

"Am I wrong, little Tamari?" He asked.

"Uh-um, No?" Tamari replied nervously.

"Oh?" Replied Uraken. "Did you perhaps not tell them?" "Tsk, tsk, tsk..." He wagged his finger. "I thought better of you..."

"Well, I-"

"An individual's soul is only as strong as their character." He said. "Yangshi can grow or weaken with the alteration of one's emotions." He walked over to the chalkboard drawing a black soul.

"However, while Yangshi is a power of emotion, Yinko is one of mental." He turned to the class.

"Can any of you explain to me the meaning of my words..."

A child raised his hand. "Emotion is like happy or sad; but mental is depressed or agitated."

"Subarashī!*" Said Uraken. (Splendid)*

"Although we are still humans, with a dominance of Yangshi, our Yinko can grow or shrink based on our mental state. Such as the effects trauma or negative experiences have on us." He said writing on the board.

He turned back to the class. "Now that we have closed that book; who would like to demonstrate Yunsei?" He asked.

All hands shot up at the sound of Uraken's words. "I thought so..." He grinned.

"B-but they can't lead the demonstration!" Said Tamari nervously. "They barely know how to control their own Yangshi, much less imbue it!"

"Oh, little Tamari... Do you really have such "little" faith in your own students?" Said Uraken.

"No-I..."

Uraken walked over to a girl; squatting down next to her chair. "Now see this little one..."

"One what?" Said the girl. "There's nothing there."

Uraken opened his hands, exposing them to the girl. "Hm?" Then he placed his hand behind her ear; pulling out a small knife. "Ta-dah~!" He cheered quietly.

The girls face lit up like the sun; smiling warmly. "Eheheh." She giggled.

He took the knife cutting a piece of paper; it was a clean cut; nothing more, nothing less.

He then handed the knife to the girl. "Now, hold tight and shut your eyes."

She took the knife; closing her eyes.

"Now, take a deep breath and picture yourself..." He said. "Think about your hobbies, your likes and dislikes...whether you enjoy mango or green tea mochi." He chuckled.

The girl giggled. "Think of everything that makes you, unique..."

Slowly, the knife began to glow a golden green as a small gust of wind came up from the blade.

This time, Uraken picked up a piece of metal; holding it for the girl. "Go on..." He said.

The girl moved forward stabbing the metal. It began to contort, finally ripping to shreds in a small ploom of air. "Ha ha!" The girl smiled.

"Do you see?" Said Uraken. "My precious stars... For most, a common element will be born within the weapon. But for some rare few, there will be a more "distinctive" aspect found."

He took out two knives holding them up; the left knife began to freeze over, while the right began to burn. "Such is the same with having "more than one" Yunsei dwell within an individual's soul."

/Ring! Ring! Ring!/

"Hm?"

"Ah, that's the bell!" Said Tamari patting himself down with a wet rag. "S-see you all tomorrow! Bye!"

As the students made their way out of the class Uraken made his, to the desk.

"I thank you for allowing me to teach such a wonderful class..." He said.

"Ha ha, your welcome... You can have them if you want; I sure can't get through to them like you can." He smiled jokingly.

"Hm, like a flower not yet in bloom you teach this class... You will grow into a splendid teacher... in time." He smiled.

"Heh, thanks." Replied Tamari.

Uraken placed the glasses back on Tamari's head as he left. "Ah!" Said Tamari.

Uraken walked over to the doorway, taking a moment to look back. "Which is why I'll be joining you every so often..." He grinned.

Tamari's jaw dropped as Uraken waved goodbye. "W-wait! I didn't say anything about that!"
