IX: Spy

His POV

"I dont know why you wanted to marry her... Do you love her?"

His majestic office looked the same as ever. Its been long since I last came here.

It is a big office. No-it's more likely a throne. His chair is big and majestic. He holds a lot of power and this whole room is the reflection itself. It is decorated with classic European mottif. Monochromatic colors with touches of gold at the structure and displays. One of his favourites were the bronze head of a dragon. Here in China, the dragon is a symbol of power. King uses dragons to measure their power and strength. And my father, he surely is a king. Ruthless, powerful and unfathomable abilities, which I was able to surpass. So if he's a dragon, then what am I?

The other side of his wall is covered with paintings. Mostly from auctions. Auctions are pretty popular with businessmen. I don't know why. They raises bid and spends a lot of money maybe just to say they have money and they will use it the way they like. For me, money should be used in a valuable way. For example... Hmm crushing my enemies?

I walked slowly in front of the spacious wall filled with paintings. I stopped in front of a certain painting. It looked odd at some point.

"I don't know." I answered placidly and continued to scrutinise the image. The image is only splashes of paint and had to regular pattern. Its abstract. I'm curious of how much many did he spent for this trash.

"But its son, its odd. To marry someone without any particular reason..." he sighed and I turned to him.

I dont want to hear that question because I don't know the answers. Many people asked me why. I also asked myself. But I got no answer.

"Just stop looking for answers father. I don't have them." I answered placidly.

I heard him sighed. "By the way, have you removed Hyacinth Corp. in the industry? I heard they're pretty troublesome." I started pacing in front of them again.

"Yes. With Shiju, Fang, Jing, Song, and many more. I don't really remember their useless names. Don't worry, I've eliminated them for good." I said and yeah.

"Good. Your getting good at this." I heard him said. But I didn't dare look at him.

Because of you, I lost everything I hold dear.

Everything.

Just because you wanted to prepare me to this. What a selfish father. Oh, I should keep on mind that here, I don't have a parent. All I have is a business mentor. A ruthless one. Why? He taught me all this things. He taught me how to crush my enemies utterly, until there are no more bloods to bleed, until they are all gasping for the tiniest bit of hope then cut it mercilessly. He taught me and I learned.

At this moment, rage and pain enveloped my whole being again. Pieces of memories are coming back again, like a selfish nightmare...

"I have to go now, I have shitload of work to do." I coldly said without looking at him. I walked with fast strides to the door.

"Don't bury yourself to work Rei, you're already married now. Enjoy your life." I halted from opening the door.

I clenched my fist that I could hear my bones crackling. A hypocrite. Fucking hypocrite. I chuckled humourless. I turned to face him and stared at him coldly.

"Oh. Enjoy? The last time I check, enjoy is never in your vocabulary 'father'..." his eyes reflected pain and sadness when I put emphasis in that word but I didn't care. He's a worthless parent. He needs to know that.

"A hypocrite you are... You have taken away my ability to be happy. In case you forgot." I added but this time, my voice is laced with sarcasm. I opened the door and calmly strides out of the building. I shouldn't have come here. This place is hell.

His mansion was the one who witnessed all my painful memories. All my pains and suffering. This tall and majestic castle is always on my nightmares. It is painted grey. It is cold. And unloving. It is so big and it felt empty as always.

Whenever I'm here, I can't breathe. So by the time I got out of his room, I am greeted by swarms of bodyguards.

"Young master." they greeted in recognition. They are all elites, all highly trained. I didn't mind them as they bowed at the sight of me and made my way out.

By the time I reached my office, I'm right. I have pile of work to do. What else shall I expect?

I wanna finish it all in one go so I could go home. I'm much calmer when I see her...

Every night is a pure torture for me. But of course she have no idea. When I'm fucked up, I stay up in that study room and lock myself there all night. I don't dare let her see me like that. I don't want to disturb her already disturbed mind. I know that she has her own baggage too.

Won't you open up to me?

No matter how hard it is, I will do my best. You will trust me soon, and I will make you open up to me.

I am confident. Just give me time.

I remember those words. I heard them. But they don't affect me in any way. Maybe I'm immune to this. To trust someone only to get shattered in the end, over and over again. Perhaps I got so used to it that even when she told me those reassuring words, it held no weight.

I am bit startled when I felt my secretary standing in front of the half-opened door and staring at me, almost seem like peeking. I didn't bother look up to her and spoke.

"Azerra, what are you doing there?" I coldly said and she seemed to be startled. She seems to be thinking whether to make up reasons or deny what she's doing which I don't know. What is she doing? Tsk tsk.

"I only ask once." I said again, this time, with more authority.

"Ah erm Sir, there have been some emergency... And I want to report it Sir."

"Oh. But you've been standing there for 6 minutes and 36 seconds. What are you doing?" I crunched my brows when she fidgeted in front of me like a nervous kid.

"Because base on what I remember, one of my policies is that every possible emergency must be reported to me ASAP, and you just wasted 6 minutes there."

She lost her words. Maybe I better cut his tongue, its useless.

"Do you understand my point here Ms. Azerra?" I said lacing my voice with venom.

I felt her fear from here. Unusual fear. Like being caught doing something bad. I felt her fear. Every movement. Her heavy and uneven breathing, her accelerated heartbeat. Her pulse loudly pumping from her veins. Her fidgeting to ease her nervousness, the way she rub her fingers together and the way she curl her toes, even her uneven posture. She stares at me trying her very best to stay calm. But she failed.

"I'm just watching you Sir. Sorry." she said and I raise my brows as if that's the most foolish thing I've heard. I size her up using my gaze and I saw her gulped. The panic and fear she's trying to hide is now more visible. Hmm...

"And why would you be watching me?" I said. My voice is getting impatient now. Ah. So it's been her. No wonder there are some difficulties lately. "Or is it somebody wanted to watch me?" I smile cruelly and got the silenced gun under the table. She said nothing, now she's trembling with fear.

"Is that it Ms. Azerra?" I asked again. She looked up to my eyes with fear and defeat as if she's caught on a trap.

"Just one thing, all spies of my company dies Ms. Azerra."

Before she even processed what I've said, I pulled the gun in a second and another second to put a bullet between her eyes. Then I walk towards her and disregarded her shattered forehead and looked for that red blinking light I saw when I was sitting there. In her chest is a small, almost undetectable camera with recorder. I went back to my chair and connected the camera to my laptop. I called Nicholei.

"Erase all traces of me in this database. After that, destroy their system." I ordered. "One more, tell me the company. I want to know who had the audacity to do this."

"There have been a spy." he didn't ask but declared.
