The Abandoned Mine

The air felt damp and musty beyond the iron door that once sealed off the mine. A few beams of light penetrated from outside. Robby searched, the Thrunite flashlight rested on the box where he remembered leaving it. The light powered on. He closed the iron door, putting a barrier between himself and the world out to get him. Rocks and stones of all sizes lay on the tunnel floor. Robby jammed a few into the bottom of the door hoping to slow down any tracking pursuers. He turned around and raised his flashlight, illuminating a path deep into the mine.

Fear of apprehension motivated Robby to move quickly. Turmoil grew with each thought plowing through his mind and clawing at his brain. There’s no way they’ll find the entrance. It’s too well hidden. Maybe Allen will tell them. Maybe he won’t. Maybe he’ll pretend to look away. Wishful thinking. How am I gonna to get food? It’s getting colder.
