1:The Return

Vivian

"Farrah!" I shouted as I ran closer to her.

"Farrah!" She finally turned around as I shouted her name once again.

"Oh my God! Viv?" She squealed happily and ran towards me, her arms spread out wide to greet me with an embrace.

"OMG Viv, it's so good to see you!" She let go of our embrace and looked at me teasingly, "Wait, why did you lose weight? Didn't Uncle feed you last summer?"

"You know I need to be fit for modeling." I rolled my eyes.

"Modeling? I thought you were going to focus on your studies for your family business?" She asked.

"Ugh, I have my reasons," I looked at her and grabbed her hand, "Lets go? I'm really excited to see the others."

We walked across the open grounds of the school campus and entered the building for the Nursing students.

"So how is Uncle? Is he okay with your course?" Farrah asked as we walked to the nearest elevator.

"There's nothing he can do, we are already in our 4rt year beisde I can't do the business stuff. He's the one who's good at it, not me." I said and hit the 7th floor button in the elevator. We headed to room number 701 for our class and as we opened the door, there were already at least 30 students inside.

"Vivian! Farrah!" Called a girl who sat in the back with 5 other nursing students, all facing each other in a circle.

"Hi" Farrah smiled at them.

"Hey, Ms. Pedley! How was your summer?" Caleb put his hand on Farrah's shoulder."It was fine, I went to Korea."

"Wow, how about you Viv?" Caleb turned to me and removed his hand from Farrah's shoulder.

"Well, nothing new. I was grounded. No phone, no internet, no shopping, and everything. I mean, what can I do? My father is 'Victor Ayer'." We all mentioned my father's name at the same time, eliciting a chuckle from all of us.

"Your dad is really scary." Kalila said as she rolled her eyes.

"Anyways, I think Azai has good news." Ravi said, who had to tap on Azai's shoulder to get his attention as he had been quiet on his phone the whole time since we arrived.

"Yes?" Azai asked, startled as he saw that we gave him our undivided attention.

"Good news?" Ravi prompted him with a raised eyebrow.

"Ah yeah, ahem," He cleared his throat.

"Uhm, Ave is coming back." He said innocently while everyone stared blankly at him for a while.

"...And? It's just Ave-" Kalila paused.

We all did a double take at her when we finally understood what Azai had said, who was now back on his phone.

"Wait, what? Ave?" I asked, maybe I heard it wrong.

Azai nodded, "Yeah, she's probably at the airport already."

"OMG! Are you serious?" Farrah asked in shock.

"Azai, are you really serious? Are you talking about Ave? Avery?" Darius also asked, confused like the rest of us.

"No, I don't believe you," Caleb stood up from his chair, "She will not come back here. And I know damn well since you and Azai are good at making us fuss over useless things."

We silently nodded in agreement with what Caleb said since Azai and Ravi were well-known to be great pranksters no matter how serious the situation was. And knowing Ave, she will definitely not come back home.

"Ah." Ravi exhaled, obviously irritated at what Caleb had just said.

"Dios mío, whether you believe it or not, it's not my problem." Azai nonchalantly said in Spanish and continued with what he had been doing on his phone.

We all looked at each other, stunned. No one tried to say anything against what Azai said. We all know what it meant when Azai spoke in Spanish. It's no time for foolishness.

We all looked in front of the class when the door opened. The teacher for our class had arrived, so we quickly settled ourselves and listened to the discussion.

It was almost an hour into the lecture; the professor stood in front busy discussing something I don't understand. I couldn't stop thinking about Ave. 'Is she really here?', I thought. I looked at my friends and all of them were making shit faces except for Azai and Ravi — they were focused on the discussion. I looked at my phone and it was already 03:00 pm, I tried to ignore my thoughts about Ave and focus on the discussion.

It was 07:00 pm when our class ended. We were all in the school parking lot, preparing ourselves to go home.

"Zai," Kalila caught my attention when she called Azai.

"Are serious about Avery? Is she really home?" She asked in an unusual tone.

Azai nodded as he put his bag inside his car, "She'll attend school tomorrow." my eyes widened at his response.

"I should go." Azai said and we just nodded as he climbed inside his car.

"See you tomorrow!" Azai smiled and waved off to Ravi as he drove his car outside the campus.

"I'm excited to see Avery, I never met her in person." Ravi chuckled softly at what he said while we just smiled at him.

"I should go too, see you all tomorrow." He said and drove off.

"To be honest, I'm not ready to see her again," Caleb sat on the hood of his car, "I never thought she'll come back, after what happened 4 years ago."

I agreed with what he said, we never thought she'd come back. It was 5 minutes already after Ravi and Azai left and no one said anything. I leaned against the side of my car. Looking at each one of us, Farrah and Darius both wore serious expressions as they leaned against their cars while Kalila and Caleb, on the other hand, sported unfamiliar expressions.

"There's nothing we can do about it. I know she has her reasons. Maybe we should plan something for her return instead." Caleb went down from the hood of his car and looked at us.

"I have an Idea, get inside your cars." Farrah exclaimed as she went inside her car first, leaving us no choice but to just follow her.
