Chapter III

"Hell is empty; all the demons are here."

William Shakespeare

Lisa just smiled like a fool because of how perfectly polite they looked and I understood ... of course I did! But damn, they couldn't be that perfect, something they had to have, I don't know. Maybe they were gay, I wouldn't mind if that was the case, I respected the likes of others.

But that would definitely alienate the girls or maybe attract them more ... I still didn't know.

I frown, losing myself in my thoughts until I feel a hand rest gently on my shoulder. My skin bristles and not in a good way, I lift my eyes abruptly colliding with beautiful amber eyes.

-Skyler? ... You're good? Lisa asked you something, but since you didn't answer, I thought you weren't feeling well ... is it because of us? Alexander asks a little worried, looking at me with a frown.

I quickly deny it before they thought of something that wasn't.

-Not! Of course not ... I just ... I got distracted thinking about a book I was seriously reading. Sorry. -I apologize directing my gaze towards Lisa.

"What were you asking me?" This time I struggled to attend to the conversation.

Lisa just sighed and denied with a slight smile on her lips.

"Seriously, Sky, one of these days, the end of the world will come and you wouldn't even know it because you would be thinking about those books ... I was saying we could help Alex and Daniel to know more." about the place, now they're new around here, "he said. She just smiled, expecting him to respond as expected.

-Yes, why not? I have nothing to do tomorrow if it's okay? - I ask smiling a little trying to be nice for once.

The boys smiled at me as much as they did Lisa, she looked at me with gratitude shining in her eyes, so we finished lunch agreeing that we would meet everyone at Lisa's house.

The day passed quickly between one class and another longing for the end of school hours.

I had to go to the library for my meeting with the literature group, I smile as soon as the warning bell rings during the last hour of the game, I grab my things quickly saying goodbye to my best friend before I leave, of course.

I walk down the hallways to the library as soon as I get there, settle into a free chair waiting for the others, open my book to continue reading until suddenly I hear a distant noise, I look up and direct it to the shelves.

She hadn't seen someone or something come in, she didn't know if anyone was still there. Closing my book, setting it aside, I slowly walked over to where I had heard the sound, saw a book on the floor, frowned and carefully picked it up, looking around, but there was nothing, I sighed and then focused my eyes on the title of the book to be able to read it and thus put it in its place.

I was very surprised when I realized that it wasn't even in the section of this book because this book belonged to the last part of the story in the library.

"Maybe someone dropped it ..." I whispered to myself finding a reason for the book to be here, I shrugged and headed towards the history section, setting the book in place as soon as I could, I was about to leave but I stopped when I heard a noise again. I turn slowly to see what was making such a sound.

-Hello? ... Someone here? ... Mrs. Evans, how about you? - I asked him if he was the manager of the library, I took two steps before hearing another noise behind me louder than the previous one.

-Calm down Skyler ... don't panic- I tell myself trying to calm myself, I couldn't be scared just because of that I hear another noise, I saw a shadow quickly pass between one shelf and another, I swallowed hard.

-If he's an idiot making a joke ... I think it's not fun! - I exclaimed starting to get angry until I heard a roar. Making me shudder when I saw the bookshelves start shaking making the books fall like an avalanche.

I backed away quickly as the shadows began to approach me stalking me while I was frozen in place.

I closed my eyes when you start materializing in front of me. Suddenly I felt a breath against my face as I trembled.

-Please ... Don't hurt me ...- I whispered with fear because although I didn't believe much in God, at this moment I was praying with everything I had so that someone would save me.

Please someone save me! ...

SOMEONE...

Someone to get me out of here! ...

PLEASE...

I had often imagined what the day of my death would be like, but little did I anticipate that I would do it this way. Me being attacked by a human-shaped shadow and unable to move due to my fear.

"Please ..." I prayed for the last time, my hands were clenched into fists at the sides of my body with such force that it hurt.

-Open your eyes and look at me ...! - He demanded with a distorted and cavernous voice the silhouette made of darkness in front of me.

- Come on ... silly girl ... or do you want me to open your pretty eyes with my claws ...!- The creature spoke in a singing tone and mocks the being that lurked around me.

With a lot of horror in between, I slowly opened my eyes to see a monster if you could call that thing something like that.

Its shape was not corporeal, it was just a collection of the most horrible darkness, there were even creatures prowling that made it more unpleasant, its eyes were two red stones that glowed like flames and that was the least terrifying.

It had wings ... almost skeletal dark wings. When the creature smiled, its teeth were sharp as daggers.

I couldn't run or hide, I felt that with his eyes I could see beyond, in the depths of my soul and he was smiling for it.

Slowly he extended one of his claws to touch or kill me, he no longer saw the difference.

When I was inches from taking my arm, I don't know if out of desperation or fear or what the hell it was that filled me because I reacted by yelling at him.

"Get out of me!" I hugged myself waiting for the beast to hit me but its claws never came. I saw his hand pull away suddenly as if something had burned it, he turned his head towards me growling, ready to strike again.

-Skyler ... Is that you? ...- I heard the voice of the one I had recognized as Daniel, one of the new boys. I tried to yell at him not to come closer but my voice didn't come out.

The beast laughed, apparently acknowledging that there was another person approaching.

-One of these days, girl, will be the man you are asking for help from which you will flee ...- The red-eyed demon smiled maliciously- and I will be the only thing that crosses between him, death and you. Don't forget my words. There will come a time when you will not fear me or the dark.

His words echoed in my ears as if they were more than words, as if it were a prophecy written in stone.

Suddenly he disappeared, taking the darkness and destruction with him. I looked around stunned, the bookshelves were fine, each book was in its place, as if nothing had happened.
