Marthasterias glacialis has far spread into fitting its name. High spines of skyscrapers spreads follows the limbs. The once dome city that had been lost of people was sprawling of creatures, machines and humanoids. Vendors that trade in metals limbs are at shares with the meat market. The principal of all what makes this market flowing is the concept of the dark market; only true dark vendors have no currency transfers exchanges. Everyone else caters to the machines exchanges which is the calculated value average of other domes. Monthly costs change to account for market spikes.
I took great care on covering my gifts to my brother and his soon to be. Treasured value that I carried myself, never leaving my side. I had sold everything else once reaching tradesmen markets, even the engine I cobbled from the scraps of the heap vault space station. Other then the new clothes, some basics essentials for living, the two machine bodies and device accessories for ability to speak to anyone non-threateningly. That was all I needed, everything else was replaceable in my mind. I could always make new things or buy them.
I had my biological data account that still has shares from the start of dark market trading. I was a walking money maker at this point of time - but I have a role to be above the streets of starfish. Once I was directed away from the public, I was to be expected to be that role.
There is an area of this city that the machines seem to be the only folks in, often this were humans whom been converted into machinery or ai that has became self aware and independent acting. I held respect for all I walked paths with, those lenses focused and backed away. A personal team of hired bodyguards came forwards, some suggestion that they would carry anything for me.
"These are my responsibilities. You can not." I replied simply.
I am directed through into a building back entry, I was much larger than the door but I had managed it. I was directed instantly to a cleaning area and left here to refresh from the filth. In privacy I was able to wash away all dirt from all of us. I took better efficiency in wrapping them and then dressed too. I then fixed myself into something similar to them. A sort of uniform, I hide away my flesh with mummy wrapping too. I suited blending among machines, if I didn't have to breath air. The final touches was cloaking them and putting myself into a veil. I do a last little fuss in my appearance in the near mirror. I pick those two up - leave it to my tail to do the motion actions.
"The network busy." I heard from among a group of other machines demanding entry, "It is a no entry level clearance." The teams show that even they were locked out. They all code at each other, I step right up to them. I lower in peering at them all... study how they were to focus with themselves.
"Our lady." My personal guards having just scanned something on me, likely my GPS tracker for my location services. I stood on two and straighten back. My tail notions no fussing.
"What sort of machine is that?" Exclaims among the group in heated wires.
"Do-" I blocked that from being spoken. I peer to each in how they present themselves. I give a sharp glare right on the one about to speak again.
"Best to leave them be, this little heated nonsense is a waste of time. I have more important things to be doing." I walked in circling them once and then with crossing a boundaries of codes, "I have a most helpful of ideas about what to do about the lack of connections." I knocked my tail at the door and sigh in how rude mother ignored me, "Oh mother, I am back from sleeping to long. I brought some wedding ideas." The doors unlocked, "Yes. I am safe."
I state in walking through and with making sure it locked behind me. I peer in the last few seconds before my view was cut - eyeing how they all were shocked to see me pass like that. Even my personal bodyguards were stunned. I give my purr and look onwards into the room.
Encircled that of several machines directly wiring into a tower of wires. They all in bow to the tower while processing it. I gentle up my two gifts among the circle, being sure they were not going anywhere. I lift to full hieght and give the tower of mangled wiring a hug.
"I had miss everyone and you would believe me with amount of things I had to put up with." I snuggled in more, "Please tell me that everyone is OK." I looked up to the tower. The many wires came to action lifting me to a little area, a little head patter, "I can get us connected to space again. It's not perfect but it's better then nothing." I posed with knowing to shut up.
"Little Kate, you have the most perfect of timing when you do appear." She cups my face, "You my step daughter are going to sort out the relationships between some folks. You are just perfect for it." She posed with sighing in relief.
"So the vault connected to the earth orbital station and maybe a few lower segments have fallen among the radiation ashes storms." I tell her and she sighed in sorrow, "The treasury I took with me... well sort of. You see... I got bored with locked up... and I sort of. well..." I posed in motioning about the two empty bodies. She goes sending cables... doesn't even dare touch them. She looks at me. I shrug.
"Human boredom is sometimes terrifying." She notes, "You not just made two bodies but also sculpted them out of materials we have no technology to perfect that." She scans it and looks at them and back at me. Then back to them, "They are perfect for what they are intended to be." She twisted back to me, "Radiation storm..." She scans me all over. I give a purr in such concerns. She clearly had to put questions to the side as she has me set up a bunch of important things.
I had access into all the ambassador work bench apps. I could even see recent slow updates of Freya and Jackle. The minutes of meetings they been in since the attack on the orbit station. I can tell they haven't a clue of recent closer to home issues. So this makes sense of why I am here and the things I must do.
There is a court date in the next day or two - this was to do with ai based machine a day their freedoms.
There is also a space creatures community grounds event - a sort of announcement for information passing. It's also where the sort of black market associations will be - I am keen to browse through.
"These will be safe locked in here." She has them over closer to her, I helped moving them with care, "I am glad your safe. Jackle would be mad at me for hurting you. Let alone that he has no clue if you are you. He really thought you were a fake back in the orbit station, couldn't bring himself to be attached to you."
"We have been through some tough times. I can understand his hurt and heart ache that must have caused." I peer about the arguement reality of things that I knew I could help, "I will do my best." I tell her, a cord in touch.
"Yes. You always have." She directed about the door and I bow. I walk on out of it as she wished me to, "Don't give him a reason to hack into me."
"You already did." I shouted with the door closed and locking. Once locked I pose in pouting. "Oh poor mother. He takes after me to well sometimes." I peer to how the room is still frozen in place from when I left it. My personal bodyguards in stun and the others in frozen arguement poses. I clap my hands twice and they all were startled in moving again. I looked about some quick skim notifications of codes... I stare blankly with trying to wrap my head around them. I move back over the code barrier, the other automatic systems moving into life to make me comfortable. A server type is quickly sprinted forward with a delivery of coffee.
"Mmm..." I could smell it entering the room, let alone it being at my hands. I wiggled fingers in excitement of coffee. I took the warm cup with a loud purr. A bowed nod of thanking the lovely server, "Exactly what I wanted. You are to kind." I pet them on the head, "There. there. It's fine." I enjoy the smells of it, watching the codes fluster about. I see a bad code and I make my note of whom it was, "Don't spoil my coffee with foul language. I have torn arms out of sockets if I must."
"My lady, we don't do that here."
"Yes... I know. You lot are lucky. Very envious." I tut and sip the coffee with moving the privacy mask away a moment. I snarl in the notions of things I knew meant reading. I closed the arguements reality window out of my way. I have a the entire cup tipped down me. The empty cup given back the to server still there, "I am off to do things. Later folks. I don't need a posy of newbies."
"Newbies!" The most annoyed stomps right up to the boundary of reach. I rolled my neck with cracking a joint better.
"Lady Kathrine!" A runner with a stack of letters.
"Perfect!" I took the whole lot instantly, "A lot of smells." I picked through the entire piles. I turn to how they just stood frozen again, "If I give you a letter, you are to do exactly as I tell you about it." I smell each with care and had to open some of them. Torn some nonsense, "That there is a stack of medications that are to be found... use a tracer to list the chemical compounds. Write directly in the the letters top corners. I expect this done tomorrow." The fella looks at the stack like I am nut case, "If you don't finish in that time, I will have likely found it what is needed by then. I will need those returned to me for medical records purposes." The blinking of being lost... someone else took those letters from them and just followed the orders as I stated, "Thank you." I tell that one. I peer with the next pile, "Those are reported crimes around the boundaries between dome cities. I need more details. Say a sort of update in the crimes cases." They nod and left tooth doing that at least. The next two with letters, "Thanks for holding those. I am not ordering you around. You both have plenty of work. Especially you." I poked this one, "Stop slacking off or I will rewire you." They jolted with backing off.
"Dismantling machines is like you are going to leave them in a wheel chair."
"Well it's a good thing I am freaking doctor." I patter this guy's shoulder and skim reading the letters, "Follow only with me, Francis. We have a long day ahead. I need you to keep up." He jolts confused with being slightly dragged by my sheer strengths, "Stop digging you heels. You will ruin the flooring." He clamps up and I picked him up under an arm, "You're the building fella. So your math will be perfect for you to do this project for me. I pay you of course and it be a world wide benefit."
He looks back to the crowds I left behind. They are on the ball to follow after me. They get use to my causal manners and being a stronger then I look. Setting up to how quick things started for the earth to finally return messages past the radiation buffer.
My posy of little folks were key faces among the dome cities, mostly ambassadors here to directly be reporting in affairs about their hive. They have teams behind them that do the small stuff. It's all about the pyramid with them. Theses were all in the long term of becoming earth ambassadors to be sent off into space at somepoint. These early years of direct public deals was how to best prepare them to understand scaling. The higher the pyramid the more is on your shoulders. I am currently the highest locally. The network is its own system for running the dome city climates and automations - needing someone like me to be face for the higher formal things.
The letters request trickling through the process came full circle with my day ending in a lab. Sort of directing them in the making of these medications - which I tested in quality checks and personally stamped. They are sent on delivery, yet there was some I held to personally for my own visits.
