Chapter Thirty Four - Done Deal

Hailey's POV

Stunned for a moment, before I started laughing uncontrollably. I looked into his questioning eyes, holding my stomach, trying to control my laughter.

Pulling out the chair opposite where he was sitting, I stretch out my hand to him.

"Hailey Sullivan, new employee at Sullaknights legal department" I say, still chuckling. "Not worthy of the title, big shot lawyer, yet"

Instead of shaking my hand, he pulled me into an embrace, still shocked.

When he released me, he invited me to sit down, as he signaled a waiter to our table.

Frowning, "How did I not know it's you?" I .. are you Mr. Simon?" I wondered

"Just get it out of your system." he encourages me"

"Huh?" I frown

Lowering his head he looks up at me, waiting.

Unsure what he was talking about, I just stared, my eyes widening in realization.

"Your name?" I asked still not understanding. then it dawn on me. Stifling a laugh, 'that's the name they gave you at the home" I asked, knowing that he grew up in the home from a baby.

Laughing at my expression, we both just laughed, insanely.

A young man in an apron approach the table as we stifled our laugh.

"Good afternoon, what can I get you today?" he asked, looking between the both of us.

I ordered a burger and cokes while Mr. Peter's ordered a double burger fries, grapefruit juice and two waters.

While we await our lunch we discuss the proposal of a joint project between Fantasy Shipping and Sullaknights.

"You may not know this, but I have turned down this project many times" he said.

Confused, because this is a great opportunity for both companies and employing a larger workforce in this country and overseas.

"But why?" I asked.

"Maybe I didn't trust Adian. Knights enough" he responded, honestly.

"Personality, before reading the contract he prepared, I might have change things, but after reading it thoroughly, I realize that I would be a fool to try to impress the board by changing anything. In fact, from what I understand, other than Adian Knights and Mr. Ryan Knights, the only other persons to see this contract is Jerry Prescott and now me" I explained.

"How did you get this assignment" he asked me curiously.

Chuckling softly, promise you won't laugh?" I ask first.

Nodding he smiles at me.

"Well as you realise, I'm very new to Sullaknights and this is actually my third day with the company" I starred saying.

"Wait, What?" he asked surprise

Smiling, "yes, shocking, I know" .

Before I could say anymore, our lunch arrived, so we allowed the waiter to lay it on the table for us.

Before the waiter left, I ordered two beef double burgers and one chicken to take away.

Mr. Peters gave me a bottle water together with my cokes.

"I'm taking a sandwich for the security and driver and one for later. This is definitely the best."

Chuckling, "If I knew, I would be meeting you, I would have chosen another place" Mr. Peters admit.

"But why? I love this place" I said as I started biting into the burger.

"I guess we never knew each others last name" Mr. Peter mused.

Agreeing, "family never use last name" I said, totally enjoying my burger.

"So tell me why, a three day old worker ended up with this assignment?

Thinking how much to share, knowing I can trust him.

"First, my father was a major part of Sullaknights before he died. I believe that he had shares which now belong to me" I told him so far.

Impress by the way he smiled, nodding his approval.

"Now this so far is confidential and other than sister Ally, you're the second person I'm sharing this bit with" I said preparing him for more.

I learned over closer to him, "I'm married to Adian Knights" I whispered straightening back in my seat, waiting for a reaction from him.

Surprise, he definitely was, as he looks at my finger.

"it's a bit complicated right now, but it will get better" I said trying to convince not only him but myself also.

I quickly told him about the arrange marriage and about us getting to know each other. I also told him about my encounter with Ellis, who he knows about and about Adian saving me. I know not everything I said was on point, but it could be.

Mr. Peter's expression soften by the seconds as I told him everything so far.

"Hailey, I'm glad that you are honest with me" he said

Agreeing with him, I drank out my cokes.

"Do you have anything else to add? Or is the reason for taking this assignment the reasons you have express to me" Mr. Peters ask.

Grinning, "Oh yeah, the first reason is that I overheard some workers discussing Adian giving me the contract and one of them said that I didn't have the balls to go after it" I said sadly.

In a fit of laughter, "and of course, you're ready to prove them wrong" he questions observing me.

Smiling wryly, " honestly, at first it was, but when. I read the contract and research your company, I realise only a fool would pass an opportunity like this" clamping my mouth,"I'm sorry, I'm not calling you a fool." I cried, "I'm sorry" I said in a pleading tone.

Chuckling, " you're right, only a fool would pass a good opportunity like this. it's just that I needed to trust someone inside Sullaknights and now I can." he agrees.

"Also I owe young Mr. Knights an apology for not giving him a chance before, but I'm also glad, that the fool that I am waited. Now I got you" Mr. Peter says quietly.

Picking up a bag from the floor that I didn't notice before, Mr. Peter, opened it and took out a copy of the contract that I had in my possession.

"Okay, I am ready to sign"
