Chapter Thirty five - Too Many Questions

Adian's POV

Hailey's been gone for almost two hours and she hasn't return Basil nor Jerry's messages or calls so far. What the f**k is with her.

I've been hiding out in my office at Sullaknights since she left and now I'm restless.

Why the hell did Bas let her go alone? She was angry at me, not him. If he had gone, today would have been less stressful.

This afternoon was the first time I saw her since I insulted her in Chubbs room and of course she ran again from me.

Since the jackass told Jerry what happened, I'm being accused of doing something to her. Yes I did, but they don't understand that all I'm doing is guarding my heart an in the long run, hers.

I'm going to have to put a tracker on her f***ing phone which is the easy part. The hard part will be getting that jackass to agree, to put it.

While I'm here I should go and see if I can get my father to spill any information about Hailey's parents.

Leaving my office, which technically will always be my tuff, because I am going to be the next CEO of Sullaknights.

My father's PA wasn't at her desk, so I just walked to his door that was slightly ajar and just as I was about to push the door open wider, I heard a familiar voice. Hesitating, I stood outside. Turning to walk away, until I heard the female voice mention Hailey's name.

Wanting to understand everything surrounding my wife, I stood outside to listen in, knowing my father's PA won't see me from where I stood when she returns.

"I know Hailey will be fine at Adian's' I heard my father say.

" Yes, but Amelia said that Adana is also staying there aren't you afraid that they find out?" the voice sounds nervous.

After a short pause, "maybe it's about time they find out" my father said. "It won't be long before Adian sees the similarities" my father added.

"I'm so afraid, it could break Hailey" the voice said, but I still can't put a face to it.

With a bit harsher tone, "don't you think that since Hailey saw her mother die in front of her, it hasn't been breaking her? She had a f***ing breakdown when she heard Amelia's voice for God's sake" my father said angrily.

"Huh, you just want your son back" the voice responded just as angrily.

Toning down his voice, "and David wants his daughter back" my father admits.

David, David Sullivan! He is alive! What f***ing secrets are my parents hiding.

"If you force Hailey back, I will intervene, I promise you that you, Amelia and that other jackass you call a doctor, will pay dearly" my father threatens. "For keeping that girl drugged up" he finishes.

The door suddenly flung open and I came face to fave with a shocked Mrs. Pierce. I was quicker to recover.

Frowning, " Mrs Piece? " I called her out, definitely shocked.

Without answering me, she turned wide fearful eyes to my father, who, stood beside his desk with a smirk.

Turning back to me, "excuse me" she said moving to walk past me.

I shifted allowing her to pass. before I walk into my father's office.

Pointing my thumb behind my back, 'isn't that Hailey's nanny or some lady that lives with her? " I ask, hoping he will believed that I just walked in.

Shrugging his shoulders, "something like that" he mutters.

Sitting back down in his chair, he leaned back, "to what do I owe the pleasure of a visit from you?" he asks with a watchful gaze on me.

Sitting down opposite him, hoping he would say something in case he thinks I overheard his conversation with Mrs. Pierce.

"I was in the building" I said, "I came to see Hailey, but she is still out shopping" I added as he give me a confused look.

"What did you do now?" my father asks, sighing.

Standing up abruptly, "why the f**k does everyone assume I did something?" I shouted, walking across to his drinks cabinet.

Fulling a shot glass with my father's favourite whiskey, I drank it in one, before, fulling another shot. I turned with glass in hand, staring into the eyes of the man who was my idol. The perfect father, the perfect husband and my best friend.

"F**k you" I muttered, taking the second shot and walked out, not looking at his reaction.

Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I dialed Bas. His phone rang out so I redialled and the same thing happen.

I can't leave yet because Bas has my keys. I ended up going back to my office to recant what I heard so far.

Shutting myself in my office for the second time today, I quarter filled a glass of the same whiskey drank in my father's office.

Sitting behind my desk, I pulled a note pad and started writing as I drank. I definitely need a ride home and a pickup for Chubbs, the only person other thank my mom who won't ever betray me.

One, David Sullivan is somewhere out there. I scribbled down, taking a sip of whiskey, wincing as I felt the burning sensation.

Two, Hailey's mother died in front of her

Three, She was being drugged, Why? I wrote a few question marks .

Four, She had a meltdown because she heard my mother's voice

Five, A connection with Chubbs and Hailey? more question marks.

Six, my father threatened my mother, Mrs.. Pierce and a doctor.

Seven, my father wants me back. more question marks.

Taking my last sip, I went and brought the bottle to my desk and started pouring more whiskey.

I called Bas again. Still the phone rang out..

I called Jerry's number, "hey where are you?" Jerry answered asking..

"My office?" I answered as if it was obvious.

"Be there in five"
