Chapter Sixty Three -Tracking Hailey

Adian's POV

I ran back into the elevator, frantic. Adana's sobbing took away precious moments, when I could have gone after my wife who, Mrs Harris clarified, left less than ten minutes ago.

Desperate, I stared up and down the sidewalk, but Hailey's nowhere in sight. I really f**ked up this time, pushing someone who has, in a short space of time become the most important person in my life.

The night security came behind me. "The pretty grayed eyed beauty, ran across the streets" he said with a smirk.

Basil sensing my anger, walked between us.

With my hands on my hips I lifted my eyes across the street to see a bus slowly moving away from the bus stop.

Searching eagerly for just a glimpse of her, nothing but shadowy figures could be seen in the very dim lights.

I continued staring after the bus because of the pull, as i felt someone on board staring back at me.

"You think she's on that bus?" Bas asks beside me.

Shaking my head, "no I don't think so, I know that she is on board that f***ing bus" I said mockingly.

"And it's your own f***ing fault" Bas retorts, walking backwards into the lobby, punching into his phone in an irritating manner.

"Let's go" he told me, heading to the underground carpark.

I rushed behind him, "Chubb's" I stopped on my way to the lift.

Instead of going underground, we ascended to the penthouse. to make sure she's okay before following that f**king bus.

Chubbs was sitting on her suitcase just as the door opened, she flew up, looking behind Bas and I.

With tears in her eyes, "she didn't come back" she observed.

Shaking my head, " I didn't reach her in time, but were going after her" I told her.

"I'm coming" Chubbs said with determination as I look to Bas for support.

Being the smart one, Bas raised his hands in defeat. Glaring at him, I turned back to my sister and the look on her face stopped me from refusing to take her with us.

"Nodding, "okay" I agreed as Bas chuckles beside me. "Bring your laptop" I told her and she knocks her school bag.

"On it" she confirms. "Where are we going?"she asks picking up a handbag, her school bag and another bag with clothes.

" You wouldn't need all of that"Bas finally lifts his head from the phone speaking to Chubbs.

"Road trip" she said with little excitement and Bas as I stared at each other.

Shrugging his shoulders, "she's on a road trip" he says, eyes on his phone.

We quickly put some overnight clothes together while Mrs Harris agrees to remain and finish the lunch for the kids.

My parents will send over two other cooks to help and Gerard will handle everything until we return as a family.

Finally settled in the car, I took the first turn behind the wheel.

"Let me have your laptop" I heard Bas say to Chubbs.

"Say please" I heard her respond.

"Listen brat, you're not on this trip for fun, we're trying to track this as***le's wife" Bas

retorted impatiently.

I didn't hear a word from the backseat for a while.

"What the f**k, you brought all of that?" I heard Bas asked, before a soda can pops open.

"AD, you want a water? It's not cold though" Chubbs offered.

Nodding, she opens one and passes it over my,shoulder.

"I'm thirsty" Bas mutters.

"Say please" Chubbs tells him.

"Please" he says.

The backseat was quiet for a. while. "man, she pass Lake Peekstill, I wonder how far that bus goes?" Bas updates me.

"Do you have a tracker on Hailey?" Chubbs suddenly asks.

I look at Bas in the rearview mirror shaking my head.

"What? No! Of course not" Bas lies.

"Then how do you know where she is?" my annoying baby sister asks.

"Chubbs, we're tracking the bus" I said, frustrated with this line of questions.

"Okay, so how do you know that she's on the bus?" she continues to terrorize me with her questions.

"The bus, didn't stop, now go and sleep" I told her.

"But th..." she started again.

"Shut up!" Bas and I say at the same time.

Then there was silence.

"Any change?" I ask, from the driver's seat.

"Nothing! You want to swap?" Bas offers.

I've been driving for a few hours and I'm hungry.

"Did she stop off for anything to eat?" I ask Bas .

" No, they are on the move. just pass... uh Vail's Gate " he said as I started to slow down at a open cafe off State Route 300.

Stopping, I pull out some bills, "get us some burgers and coffee for the road " I tell Bas, handling him the cash.

"Chubbs, you good with that" Bas asks. Turing around, realizing that she's still awake.

Chuckling, "I figured you'd be asleep by now" I said softly.

"And not be fed" she said, then turned to Bas, burger and fries," she confirms her order, before Bas leaves us, to purchase our meal.

Hailey must be hungry.

I got out the front seat joining Chubbs to monitor Hailey's tracker. The bus was still on the move. I will try to increase my speed.

Resting her head on my shoulder, "are you really breaking up with Hailey for Kristin" Chubbs asks me, out of the blues.

Confused, "What" I asked with an incredulous look at my sister. "Why would you ask that?" I asked her.

Chubbs went on to tell me about the news report, which cause Hailey to cut her finger and what Kristin told the reporter.

No wonder she was outside the bar and photographers were waiting for me.

"What the f**k" I muttered

Lifting her chin, looking into her dark brown eyes, "Would I be going on this trip to bring her back home with us, if I planned to break up with her?"
