Chapter Sixty Five- Holiday

Adian's POV

Taking two steps at a time with Adana running behind me and Basil casually climbing the stair at a slower pace.

"F***ing Heather Storm?" I muttered, standing on the landing, looking to my right, seeing the numbers sixteen and seventeen. I turned to my left, walking down the end of the hall to find room twelve.

Before I could knock the door, it swung open and Hailey jumped into my arms.

"F***king Heather Storm" I said hugging her back.

"Do we need another room?" I heard the ass***e behind me ask. I gently let Hailey go.

"No, no" Chubbs" giggles, as she pushes past me, hugging Hailey.

I heard her whispering to Hailey's as Hailey laughs softly.

I have to apologize for so much and come clean about so much more.

I turned to look at Bas, as he shakes his head. He doesn't support me telling Hailey about the DNA test results. He believes that she should remember on her own.

As I stood looking at her leading Chubbs to the bed, thinking that I'm the one she should he leading to the bed.

She has to remember the woman at the top of the stair and her father. Where he is he? That is still mystery. She needs to remember, who he left with in order for us to find him.

I know there will be a backlash when she finds out that I've been reading her journal. My hope of reuniting her with her father will take her anger of me.

I walked into the cosy room, poking around, peeking into shopping bags. Wine!

"Unopened" I lifted the bottle. "Nice" turning to look at her eyes wide, with a guilty expression.

I put the bottle back in the bag, and walked towards the bed.

Chuckling , ass***e lifts the bottle beside the bed. "I think we now know why that is still unopened" he comments laughing as Hailey joins him with a self-conscious laugh.

Hailey turned away from my gaze staring at Chubbs, who was no doubt filling her in on an adventurous road trip.

I sat on the bed, wondering if she bought that, to drunken herself into dreaming.

The two times that I heard her, she had drank herself to sleep.

Standing up, I turned to Hailey, "have you had dinner yet?"I asked looking at Bas, who also stood up to join me.

Hailey, stood up, looking uncomfortable, " I'm wasn't hungry yet" she smiles.

Walking closer, ruffling Chubbs hair, "we'll be back after we see what this town has to offer" I informed the girls.

"With dinner?" Chubbs asks hopefully.

Nodding, I smiled at Hailey before following Bas out the door, shutting it behind me.

We walked silently down the stairs, meeting the elderly lady from the front desk.

"I take it Heather is your wife?" she asks with concern.

"Yes, and I apologize for being an absolute ass" I said to her.

Chuckling, "I would be too if my wife went missing" her husband puts a chubby arm around his much shorter wife.

"That's a pretty well mannered girl you got there. Don't lose her again" he added as his wife elbowed him in his stomach.

"Ouch" he exclaimed.

"I guess you're leaving in the morning?" his wife asks sadly.

I look to Bas, "Uh, how long is my wife book for?" I ask curiously.

"For a week" she informed me.

"Do you have more rooms available?" I wondered thoughtfully.

She looks to her husband, "yes, yes we do." she confirmed, hesitantly.

"Okay can. I have two additional rooms please?" I asked, pointing to Bas and I. "For the both of us, for the week"

Frowning she looks at me, " and your wife's room? " she asks.

Understanding her question, "my sister will not stay in a room by herself, so they'll both share a room." I enlightened her.

The elderly couple beamed happily, "we'll get to it" she says already moving towards her desk, while Bas and I followed her.

Opening what I presumed is her log book, she look at me for the names.

"Adian Kn..uh Storm, Adian Storm" I corrected myself looking at Bas's mischievous smirk.

I pulled out my card, "You can take for all three rooms for the week from this" I said handing the card over to her.

"It will just be two rooms because Mrs Storm already paid for her week." She said taking the card from me.

"Breakfast is included in the cost but if you desire a small amount will be added for lunch and dinner for four?" she suggests.

Smiling, in appreciation, "Go ahead, I'll take the full package" I said, understanding a good business deal when I hear it.

She did the transaction, handing my card back to me.

"Now can you direct me to a close location for some takeaway dinner" I asked her husband who just returned joining us at the desk.

"Oh I can whip up something quickly for you" she offers quickly.

"That's okay. We can get something instead" I refused, not wanting her to go through all that trouble.

"It's no trouble. I already had food prepared in case Heather changed her mind about dinner and I always prepare extra." she eagerly explained.

Putting arm around her shoulders, "what my wife is trying to say is, that nothing would be available at this hour around here, that matches what she offers" he chuckles.

Resting his palms in top the desk, "we'll take it, four light dinners" Bas confirms.

Feeling guilty about the elderly lady cooking at this hour, "my wife can help you" I offered.

"Nonsense, I'll call you when the dinner is ready,"she says already walking off.

Looking at his wife walking off with such a soft expression in his eyes, "if she goes to the Good Lord tonight, she will leave happy woman" he says smiling.

"Remember, if we say anything that she doesn't remember, it could have repercussions"
