Chapter Ninety Eight - Third Time's Charm

Adian's POV

"You're nothing to Adian. You're just a pathetic little girl with mummy and daddy issues." Adian's ex, screams as the security forcibly escorted her out.

Her face contorted in disgust and her eyes widen, glaring at me, so full of hate. The beautiful model like woman is a definition of ugly by not just the words spewing out of her mouth but her behavior.

Evil, that's the word I'm looking for as she continues to spew insults at me.

"Don't think Adian won't have you committed, because he would, after he gets all the shares for SullaKnights. AMELIA WILL DESTROY YOU!" she screamed at me before the door shut behind her.

When I felt a body against my back, it's when I realised that Adian was behind me to support me.

Inspite of all that his ex screamed, only one thing registered.

I spun around in Adian's arms, "are we married?" I asked, thoughts conflicting.

Surprise, then confused, "why would you ask that question?" he asked but continued, "you were there when we signed the register." he frowns, reaching for his phone.

"Uh, huh, I'll just be at my desk" Mr hot, who was still in the office said as he left the office.

Who is he calling, with an anger that I haven't seen in a long time starting to seep through, the calm demeanor he has been sporting since I saw him at the home, yesterday.

"Yes" Adian responded roughly, after the person he called, answered.

Adian walked out of the office while still on the phone, leaving me baffled as to what is really going on and to whom it he speaking to, I have to trust him. I don't believe that he gave me his shares to take mines away. I have to trust him.

I sat at a couch in the corner of his office, fiddling around with my wedding band that I haven't taken off since Adian put it on my finger.

I quietly started reflecting on the things that Adian's ex, whose name I refuse to say out loud, shouted at me before she was escorted out of the office. Ameila has filled her in on her plans for me and having me end up in a mental institute is a part of their plans. I just have to be as strong as I was just now and not allow myself to be derailed by them and their lies.

One thing is certain and that's discovering my father's whereabouts and what happened to him. He is the missing link because I am unable to remember is death and everyone else whose willing to speak has been sworn to secrecy.

"Okay, so I don't want you to panic," Adian was saying as he walks back into the office, towards me.

Of course that statement in itself, activates my panic buttons.

I stood up nervously, "we are not married?" I started pulling out the ring that I have been playing with.

Putting his hand on mines, Adian stopped me with a sad smile and nodded.

"So we are really not married?" I repeated horrified. "I had sex before marriage?" I continued to whine at my dilemma.

Grabbing my shoulders, forcing me to look at him, "I'm sorry that happen" Adian said and I interrupted him.

Feeling weak in his arms, wondering where the strong woman from a few minutes ago disappeared to. "You are sorry you had sex with me?" I cried between tears.

"F**k no! But we did and if I am being honest, I am not sorry about the sex part." He released me to answer his phone again.

"Yeah" he answered abruptly.

After a slight pause, "We are on our way." he said, shutting off his phone.

Coming back to me, he picks up my handbag from the couch where I threw it and his keys. "Let's go, Bas is waiting to take us to the civil office to get legally married today." he ushered me out of the office as he spoke.

I stopped, "But Adian," I started to complain, when he stopped me.

"Later Hailey, we have to be back for the board meeting which will be after lunch instead of ten thirty." He said firmly without stopping until we reached the elevator with him still holding my handbag,

Deciding to wait until later, I allowed him to take control of the situation and explain why Mr. Knox didn't register our marriage. Is this all because of Ameila? Is she behind this also?

As the doors opened, still holding my handbag, Adian ushers me through the lobby where I became conscious of the eyes that followed us. Especially with his tight grip on my hip.

Adian's car was already idling with Basil behind the driver's seat, I'm sure and I have no idea whose in front, yet. The security in front opened the door for us, "Mr. Knights" he acknowledged Adian and nods at me politely.

Basil drives off as Adian shuts the door behind him, chuckling as he observed us in the rearview mirror. "Aren't you happy that you look hot in your white dress this morning?" Basil chuckles and his front seat passenger joins in the laughter.

Noticing a twitch at the corner of Adian's mouth I stayed quiet wishing I could slap Basil, but he is driving.

Still laughing, "they did say that third time's the charm." Mr. hot, Adian's PA, who sat in the passenger seat added, cheerfully.

Shaking his head in annoyance, "remind me why you are here again?" Adian asks his PA, whose real name I still haven't been told.

In between laughs he responds to Adian's sarcastic question. "Your father couldn't make it and he wants this under wraps before the board meeting," he says. raising his hands, "so here I am!"

The ride to the civil office was quiet until Adian's PA interrupted our quiet moment before our third wedding ceremony.

"So whose your better man?" Mr. hot chuckles.
