Chapter One Hundred and Twenty - Adana Returns

Adian and Basil didn't return as early as he promised! I tried sending Gerard home, but he refused to leave us on our own.

I did however get him to agree with helping me to secure the files that I took from my apartment and secured in the hall closet at the front door to take with him when he leaves.

Mel, Gerard and I ended up having a late dinner because it wasn't fair to let the others wait on me. Adian didn't call and I didn't bother him either but I saw Mel on her phone but I was too embarrassed to ask her any questions.

Gerard sat in the living room after our dinner, while Mel and I washed the dishes, before I had the courage to ask her if she heard from Basil.

"So, you talked to your boyfriend?" I asked and she turned to me with a coy smile.

Nodding her head slowly, as she wiped the dishes, "yea, I texted Basil and I am thinking that maybe you should contact your husband, because according to Basil, he keeps looking at his phone every second." Mel chuckles and I blush, something I haven't done in a while but when it comes to Adian, I am always blushing.

Nervous, because I don't want him to get fedup of me, "I won't look desperate for calling him?" I told her, my mind running to the romcom my roommates used to watch over and over again, because of the really hot leading man.

Throwing caution in the wind, I grabbed my phone, leaving Mel to finish up the dishes and quickly dialed Adian's number, getting tongue tied when he answered after the second ring.

"I was hoping you would call" Adian says chuckling softly.

"I wanted to call but the movie kept playing in my mind and I was afraid." I responded quietly.

There was a pause but Adian spoke again, "what movie?" he asks, sounding curious.

Suddenly embarrassed, I regretted making this call.

"Hailey?" Adian calls from the other end.

"Uh, it's embarrassing and it is only a movie." I told him, hoping that he won't bring the topic up again.

"I'm bored here, please humor me a bit." Adian says and I still stalled, angry with myself for bringing it up.

"Hailey" Adian calls me agian.

"Howtoloseaguyintenday" I repeated quickly.

"Now that wasn't so bad." Adian chuckles, "now in English please and I will leave with or without Chubbs if she is not ready to come with me." Adian promised.

"You promise" I blushed as Mel passed me, walking into the living room where Gerard sat mocking me.

"I promise" Adian agreed.

"How to lose a guy in ten days" I told him.

"How to what?" Adian, asks

"Are you walking out the door?" I aksed.

"No! How to lose a guy in ten days?" Adian repeats. "Let me get Bas. i'll see you in a bit." Adian says and hangs up, leaving me with a goofy grin.

I joined Mel and Gerard in the living room.

Smiling, "Adian said they are leaving now!" I mentioned to them but my eyes on Gerard.

With her feet dangling over the hand rest of a couch Mel sat on, "don't you find it strange that Adana wanted to come over, but yet still she's kept them back so late?" Mel asks, looking at Gerard and I.

Gerard looks at me but I know she's only here for a short visit, so I choose not to comment.

"Mel, did you mention to Basil about our meet up with his mother and the slut?" I asked not ashamed to use that word to describe Adian's ex in front of Gerard.

"Yep! it's the first thing I mentioned when we got home" Mel looks at me weirdly, "didn't you mention it to Adian?" she asks, as if discussing it with Adian is the most obvious thing to do.

Embarrass to explain that Adian and I didn't have time to communicate, because he had to leave.

"Uh, no! Not yet!" I admitted. "But, I'm guessing that he will get an earful at his parents." I shrug, as if it doesn't matter, but I am worried that they can turn around today's conflict and use it against us!

Sensing my nervousness about Adian's reaction to the incident at my apartment earlier.

"I already mentioned it to Adian!" Gerard cuts through our conversation.

F**k!

Sitting up straight, "you did?" Mel asks , staring anxiously at Gerard. "Was he upset?" She continues quickly. "You did tell him that the f******whore was being a bitch to Hailey and I right?" Mel had moved closer to Gerard as she spoke, making sure she gets his attention.

Chuckling at Mel, "I described it as I saw it" Gerard responded and I was now burdened with another thing.

"My gym bag" I said softly.

Smiling kindly, "I don't think Adian is interested in your lingerie and girl stuff" Gerard frowns in disgust.

Without uttering a word, I nod my appreciation to him, when I heard the front door shut.

Mel sat uptight on the couch, while I remained with folded feet on the one I sat on, with Gerard remaining, just as he was.

Basil walks in first and sits beside Mel, followed by Adian, who strolls in casually, his black jacket, dangling on two fingers.

"Hey Gerard" he greets first. "Sorry we're back so late." he turns around, "Chubbs here couldn't decide whether to stay or come with us!" Adian said, with an impatient look thrown at a nervous Adana, who stood hovering with a suitcase, standing behind Adian.

Standing up, I walked over to Adian, smiling at Adana.

"Hi Adana" I greeted her, "it's good to see you again" I smiled nervously at her, unsure of how she would react to me.

Adana looks between Adian and I, before forcing herself to be polite to me.

Smiling at me she turns to Adian, "same room right?"
