Finally Gerard and the two other securities, escorted Mel and I to the underground parking when a company security, whom I met during my first week, approached us.
"Uh, excuse me ma'am, uh, Ms. Hailey." He smiled nervously, "there's a Mr. Shaw in the lobby. He said something about having to pick you up for drinks or a date or something like that." The security frowned, when my brain felt as if it just left my body.
I turned to Gerard, who was already on the move.
Handing me the keys, "stay with them, until I deal with this." He nods to the security, then walks back to the lift.
The security seems to know Gerard, because he didn't second guess Gerard, but simply obeyed him.
"The audacity of that man," Mel huffs angrily, taking the key from me, stomping off and unlocking the door, to get in.
Her phone started ringing, so I left her to it, remaining to chat with the security.
Even though I might appear to be at ease, I'm actually concerned about Gerard confronting Mr. Shaw.
I started second guessing myself. Did I, at anytime during the meeting encouraged Mr. Shaw? I was being normal and polite as I always am! Where does he get off, coming on this strong with me?
Where the hell is Adian when I need him?
Gerard nods at the security who was standing beside me before talking to the two securities, who has been with us all day. They nod to me, with a small smile before leaving!
After a brief conversation with the company security, Gerard, gestured for me to get in the vehicle.
"I'll make dinner" Mel says as I climb in beside her.
"Okay," I said, "but I can help, you know!" I told her, because I know my way around my kitchen better than anyone, other than nanny Pierce.
Waving off my offer, she taps Gerard on the shoulder, "we'll make a stop at the supermarket" she says, chuckling as she leans back.
"Maybe the boss should open a supermarket for you two" Gerard commented dryly and I start giggling at the thought of owning our own supermarket.
"That would be best thing ever" I laugh, with Mel agreeing with me, before we went off, on a fit of giggles, much to Gerard's annoyance.
After a stop at the supermarket, Mel insisted that she purchase everything for the dish she's preparing, while I got my drinks, snacks and extras for my faithful security.
Mel shooed me off to my room to relax, while she bullied Gerard into helping her, They both cooked and I showered, then decided to take a short nap, while my guests prepared dinner.
A tickling sensation under my feet, woke me and I ended up feeling groggy. Did I sleep that long? I wondered as I looked around the room.
Smiling widely when my eyes fell on Adian as he sat at the foot of the bed, with a piece of paper, which he used to tickle my feet.
My smile disappears instantly, "what happened?" I quickly crawled up to him, reaching out to touch the bruises that were clearly evident on his jaw, cheeks and eyes.
Without waiting for his response, I pulled his head into my shoulder, hiding his face in my neck. "I'm so sorry" I whispered, caressing the back of his head.
"I didn't run you know, I didn't want to remain there alone and keep Gerard away from his kids" I quickly rambled on.
Pushing his head back, "but, what?" I looked at his face again. "What happened to you?" I slowly caress his swollen face.
Even with the different color bruises, he's still the most good looking guy I have ever seen.
I gaze into the eyes that has been searching mines, realizing I was doing all the talking, while he has been silent, with an odd expression on his face.
"Tell me" I prompted him, crawling backwards on the bed pulling him along with me.
"Uh, uh!" He clears his throat, before trying again. "I was blown away, by the fact that my mom..." he trails off searching my eyes once again. "I don't know" he started again, sounding unsure. "I have a feeling that there's more to your mum and my mum's relationship." He says, surprising me with his observation.
I didn't know how to respond to his observation. He left when I said certain things to his mother two days ago. I'm not sure what I can trust to tell him. Can I tell him the things I'm actually sure about, without him, getting angry.
"How did you get these bruises" I asked instead.
Adian leans back on the bed, laying his head on a pillow.
"I know there are things you're not telling me, yet." Adian says, his eyes closed, "but I hope that you will trust me enough to talk to me" he says, causing me to bolt upright.
"You got angry two days ago when your mother and I, had that, uh, that falling out." I reminded, him, not missing his smirk.
Chuckling softly, "is that what it was?" he chuckles mockingly.
Nodding, before I realized that he could not see me nod, with his eyes closed.
"What would you call it?" Needing to know how he felt about is wife and mother at odds with each other.
Opening one eye to peak at me, before quickly closing it again.
"Tit for tat?" he asks and again I choose not to his answer, because I've never found myself in this kind of situation before with anyone.
"Let's try another question, "were you with Sammy last night?" I asked and this time he opened both eyes to look at me.
Adjusting himself to sit upright, wearing a frown, "what do you know about Sammy?" He asks instead of answering and I think my heart sank in that moment.
Clad in PJ's, I climb off the bed, bolting for the bathroom.
