Chapter One Hundred and Seventy Five - Kitchen Duties

Standing outside the kitchen, I looked up to see and annoyed Mrs. Har, holding unto the banister as she walks down the steps.

She smiles when she sees me standing in the hallway.

"Great you here" she walks towards me and shakes her her, with the same annoyed expression as earlier.

"Great, you're both here" she said when she saw Bas, drinking a beer, frowning down at her.

I looked up the stair, but it was empty, "where's the girls?" I asked, hesitantly.

"Driving me crazy" she grimaces, walking into the kitchen, she started collecting her bags and turned to Ger. "I'm ready" she said impatiently.

"Mrs. Har, what's wrong with the girls?" I asked, hoping Hailey fine.

While walking out the kitchen behind Ger Mrs. Har looks up the stairs and shook her head.

"One's drunk and the other is..." she .. Mrs. Har hesitates for another moment, "drunk from inhalation of the alcohol" she shakes her head and points at Ger" "I'm ready" and walks away.

I glared at a chuckling Bas, who takes Mrs. Har's bag from her hands, "here let me help you sweetheart," he says, escorting Mrs. Har and Ger to the elevator.

"See yuh" Mac stretches out his hand to shake mines.

Turning around, "where yuh going?" Bas frowns at Mac.

Point to Ger, "to pick up my vehicle" Mac reminds him.

Nodding, "yeah, but have dinner first. Ger will be right back." Bas informs Mac before leaving to join Mrs. Har and Mer.

I kept Mac company until Bas returned.

"Girls still not down?" Bas observes, walking to the kitchen sink to wash his hands, then spins around with a grin, "let's chow down." He opened the covered pans and took out dishes, before stacking his place with a very full portion of the lasagna dinner prepared by Mrs. Har and sits opposite Mac.

Bas starts eating with a smirk he looks at Mac, "the ladies are not here, so when they are not here, we use this thing, I call self-service." Bas informs us, pointing behind us, "Everything's there, but don't make a mess or you will see the evil side of his wife." Bas points to me, still laughing.

The girls still weren't down, even when Ger returned to pick up Mac and drop dinner of, for Jerry at the hospital.

"I need a shower" I tell Bas, smelling myself for emphasis, having every intention of leaving him to clean up alone.

Bas flung the kitchen towel he held and smells his shirt, "me too," he moves to follow me.

Indicating the dishes in the sink, "whose finishing that?" I asked Bas, already envisioning myself behind the sink and cleaning up the kitchen.

Bas and I stare at each other, "do you think Hailey will believe it, if we told her Mrs. Har left the kitchen this way?" I asked Bas

Already heading to the doorway, "you're the husband, you lie." Bas walked briskly out of the kitchen, leaving me alone, like an idiot standing in front of a sink full of dirty dishes and a dirty counter.

Picking up the kitchen towel Bas threw, I headed for the refrigerator and took out a beer, then to the sink, rolling up my long sleeves, prepared for the task ahead.

As I washed the dishes alone, my mind wandered off to the video of Haley's luncheon with my mother and Samantha.

If Hailey doesn't bring it up, do I wait for her or do I bring it up.

One thing I know, is, Hailey's accustom shutting in, everything that affects her, emotionally or anything she wants buried.

Does she intend to bury this?

After wiping and repacking the last of the dishes, I turned to tackle the kitchen counter, wondering how does a working woman do all of this? Especially when kids are involved.

"F**k," I muttered to myself, already mentally shaping my mind to be lenient of working mothers.

"Too much?" Hailey's soft voice echoed behind me, as I walked around the counter, wiping, as I go.

Embarrassed as if I got caught with my hands in the cookie jar, I spun around to face her, flicking the damp kitchen towel.

Smiling, I nod, when I saw her eyes bright, with laugher dancing in them and a beautiful sexy smirk on her beautiful luscious lips.

"Yeah," I turned to continued my task. "I was going over in my head, how to be a bit more lenient on working mothers or single mothers without being taken advantage of." I explained, my eyes on the counter top, searching for my reflection and residue.

Hailey came up behind me and wrapped her arms around my waist, "or, so you're going to be lenient with me?" She giggles and I stopped what I was doing and spun around to hold her with my soiled hands.

"You want to be a working mother?" I frowned, having not given much thought to her being pregnant and working.

Chuckling, "well yes of course. I mean with a boss like you, I can have my cake and eat it too." She smiles up at me, her eyes twinkling under the lights that's hanging low over the counter top.

Slapping the side of my head, "now why did I open my mouth and repeat what was going on in my head?"I laugh.

Taking the kitchen towel from my hand, she looks around the kitchen and I know she's quietly inspecting it.

"You can take a shower, I'll finish up here," Hailey offers, gazing around the kitchen, which is actually done.

Taking back the towel, I did one more clean sweep of the counter top and threw the dirty towel into the sink.

"Only the towel's dirty, and now me," I smelt my shirt. "I have an even better idea," I grinned. "Let's both have a shower, since I dirtied you arms." I said pointing to where I just held her.

Twitching her nose, "eww" she shoves me away but I pulled her back into my arms, capturing her lips in a deep sensual kiss, just as she was opening her mouth to protest.
