Chapter Two Hundred and Fifteen

My eyes remained glued to the screen of the television attached on the wall of Adian's office, "daddy?" I whispered shocked but smiling through tears. The reporter said David Sullivan, I know he did. "He's my daddy!" I whispered to myself.

I felt myself falling but I didn't hit the floor.

I can't hear what was being said anymore because all I wanted, was to see him. The man dressed in a gray business suit, a white shirt inside. His black and white hair cut down low and like Adian, his facial hair, apparently one day old, head bent low, hands held in cuffs to the front of his body.

Sitting on the floor, I look at Adian who was crouching beside me, with Caleb hovering over us.

"David Sullivan" I smile through tears, hearing a phone ringing in the distance, unaware of Caleb answering it. "He's my daddy?" I ask Adian softly happy to see him nodding. "He's really alive?" I ask, unable to believe that he's real and alive.

Pulling me into his arms, "yes sweetheart, he's alive," Adian assures me. "Your daddy is alive and he's coming back for you, just like he promised." Adian answers.

Laughing joyfully, aware that the reporter did say David Sullivan was returning to see his daughter whom he hasn't seen since she was five years old.

Pulling out of his arms, I stare into his eyes, that's shining with unshed tears.

"I'm his daughter, the one he hasn't seen since I was five years old." I cried happily to Adian. "He's coming for me," I cried tearfully.

"You found him for me?" I realize for the first time, that he found my father, which is why daddy called his phone. "You found him," I said, looking away to the television screen where the video of my father and a man kept repeating itself. "That's why he called your phone," I said, nodding to myself.

"Yes I found him but I didn't get a chance to tell you, because I came down with a migraine," Adian explains cautiously, his brows creased with worry lines.

Remembering him returning ill that said day, I nod in understanding.

"What brought on your migraine?" I wondered out loud, but I kept my eyes on the television screen, watching, David Sullivan's face.

"Can I meet him?" I turned to face Adian nervously, not waiting for him to respond to my first question.

Turning briefly towards the television screen on the wall of his office, "Now that he's appeared in public, we're going to be waiting for his call." Adian assures me.

Smiling, unable to control the emotions that's raging through and through, "he's going to call me?" I asked impatiently, kneeling in front of him as he exchanges a worried looked with Caleb, whose hovering above us.

Pressing his index finger to his lips, he took the phone from Caleb.

"What?" Adian barks into the phone causing me to actually pity the person on the other end.

Adian listen to the caller, his lips tense and his shoulder that I'm holding, stiffening up under my hand.

"In case you haven't notice, I'm working and I've no idea what you're talking about." He says angrily.

"No, I'm working, not looking at television." Adian continued, but I look at him curiously as he mention the word television.

As I was about to open my mouth, he pressed a finger against my lips to quiet me, with a soft pleading smile.

Drawing closer to him, I sit between his legs, resting my head against his chest and wrapping my arms around him.

The heavy thudding of his heart against my ear, kept me alert.

Whose raising his heart rate?

"You know what" Adian suddenly yelled, but I kept my body attached to his, "do whatever you have to do or what you want to do, just stay the f**k away from my wife and I," Adian tells the caller.

"What the f**k are you talking about?" Adian shouts angrily, "he's dead!" Lifting my head anxiously at his words, ready to interrupt his conversation when Caleb leaned down and touched my shoulders.

Leaning down, "come with me," he whispers into my ear, touching my shoulders.

I shrugged his hands off me angrily and lifted my eyes to glare at him, my lips trembling from all the crying I have been doing since I saw my father for the first time in over sixteen years, through a television screen.

Lifting his palms to face me in surrender, he slowly backs away leaving me to resume my previous position, hugging my very tolerant husband, who now yells obscenities at his caller.

My daddy is really alive!

I lost my baby, because I was depressed and stress out after hearing his voice.

He's really here and he came back for me, but at what cost?

I lost my baby! I lost Adian's baby!

Unwrapping my arms from around Adian, I slowly got up without looking backwards, my pace increased when I started running up the stairs once again, hearing Adian's voice and footsteps behind me, I ran into the bedroom and collapsed in front of the mirror, realizing, the girl in the mirror was captured again.

Did I cause her to be captured once again?

"Hailey?" Adian says collapsing beside me, wrapping his arms around me.

"Please don't push me away again," Adian whispers above my head, "talk to me, please talk to me," he pleads.

I feel his pain, but I am trapped!

I can't open up to him, but I want to so very much, but I no longer have the energy.

Tomorrow!

I have no idea how long I remained wrapped in Adian's arms, but when I woke up I was still in his arms, only this time we were lying in bed and from the view through the window Adian always keeps open when he is working in the bedroom, it's dark outside.

For a few moments, I fought to remember what occurred earlier today, sensing it was important, but couldn't grasp it.

Closing my eyes once again, willing myself to get up because I needed to use the bathroom and I am so very hungry, which is a good thing, because I actually want to eat.

Turning around, realising Adian's still asleep but my need to pee and food is much stronger.

I nudged him gently, hoping he's not dead asleep, because I have no strength to resurrect the dead tonight.

"Adian," I whispered in his ear, gently shaking him.

Resurrect the dead! Suddenly I remembered, daddy!
