Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty Five -Meeting Adana

Adian seemed reluctant for me to leave without him, but I was just as determined to visit the Priest and pick Emmy up at the private school Adian enrolled her in.

Thankfully Ryan intervened reminding Adian about the discussion they were having a few minutes ago.

Adian eyes darkened at the thought of whatever they were discussing, finally agreeing for me to leave without him.

So much has happened in the weeks I locked myself away from the world!

Emmy's school was already over so Gerard took me to pick her up first, before making our next stop.

Gerard pulled in front of the prestigious school, my mind immediately started wondering back to the last time I was here, on the other side of the building with Adian and Emmy to meet, Adana!

"Why would he chose this school?" I whispered out loud. "Adana goes here and she hates me and I love Emmy." Eyes opened wide in panic, my heartbeats sounding louder by the seconds, afraid that she could possibly hurt Emmy.

"Hailey, don't do this," Gerard was out the car and opening my door as I clutch my chest. "Don't let Emmy see you like this," he adds, looking towards the front entrance nervously.

Grabbing my shoulders firmly, "Emmy's already outside," Gerard says firmly, forcing me to look at him. "You're stronger than this, remember," he reminded me, "you've got this!" Gerard looks towards the school to collect Emmy, whose waiting to be picked up, because I was in no condition to do it.

Nodding, I start counting backwards, while waiting for Gerard to return with Emmy!

By the time Gerard and Emmy returned to the vehicle hand in hand, I was breathing normal once again, but I couldn't hide my paleness and fear that is still inside, because for some reason, it won't stay buried.

"Hailey!" Emmy yells in excitement when she notices me sitting in the backseat of the SUV, with the door open.

Before I could respond, Emmy was already up on me, her little arms wrapped tightly around my neck, almost choking me. "It's true, you're here," she cries in excitement.

"Oh wow!" A voice snickers from the side of the SUV. "If it isn't the little backstabber and sidekick, little orphan Emmy," Adana snickers mockingly, with a few friends behind her snickering a the insults she threw my way.

Why am I always prone to walking into problems?

Shifting, "jump in," smiling, I nod for Emmy to climb in behind, with Gerard already holding the door, ready to shut it.

Looking up at the girl I once considered a friend, "hello Adana," I greeted her politely, elbowing Emmy as she poles her head over my shoulder to look on.

"Dana," Emmy greets Adana shyly, a nervous smile on her little mouth.

Glaring at Emm and I, "it's Adana," she responded harshly to Emmy's greeting.

Gerard starts closing the door, "Miss Adana," Gerard greets her just as politely, his eyes cold and hard stopping Adana for saying whatever she opened her mouth to say.

"I see your driver already waiting for you in the carpark," Gerard continued, his tone leaving no room for an answer. "I suggest you get going, or do you want me to escort you to the car?" Gerard stood firmly tapping the SUV window impatiently.

Glaring at us, but showing her respect to Gerard, "fine," she turns to me laughing sarcastically, "you think he loves you, but he will always choose me before you." Adana huffs and walks off, leaving me speechless as usual.

Before Gerard could moved and shut me inside the vehicle, I jumped out, frowning, "Adana!" I yelled as she walked away with her friends.

Raising her eyebrows, with a mocking smile, walks closer to where I stood.

Adana stood giving me a scornful look that was meant to intimidate me.

"He would never choose me over you and i'll never take away the love he has for you," I responded softly.

With her hands against her chest, Adana bent over in laughter, "you think you're worth something to him? Just so you know, he will never be your father, because he's mines." Twirling around, Adana ran back to her friends, laughing all the way.

Adjusting myself in the car, nudging Emmy to give me some space while Gerard shuts the door and gets into the driver seat.

"Dana's mean" Emmy comments about Adana's behavior, while I sat in a daze.

Why would I take Rayn from her?

What happened between them?

I need to know but I also need to go to the supermarket to get groceries for my friends and with the little time on my hand, I will have to miss visiting the church today!

Gerard and I exchange a silent glance and I know this is going to reach back to my husband despite my objections.

"To the supermarket please," I instructed Gerard, laughing at Emmy's excitement to go shopping.

I ended up spending more time in the supermarket than I originally planned but at least I was able to get when I always purchase for Amos and his co-worker, who have been my family for as long as I can remember.

I withdrew sufficient cash for Amos and extra to hold in hand before walking out with a dancing Emmy towards the SUV, with Gerard following close by.

I still can't comprehend what Adana meant about her father and I am so confuse, my head is beginning to ache.

I wanted today to be perfect for Emmy but as usual something always comes to break me and earlier it was me, trying to find out about David Sullivan's reason for being in prison and today it's Adana Knights!

"We're here," Gerard says and Emmy starts jumping joyously in her seat.

Pointing outside, "look Hailey, it's Amos," she laughs cheerfully and I smiled at the joy this girl has brought into my life over the years, despite of her pain.

"Yes, It's Amos!"
