Chapter sixteen

"Mum,have you seen Liza around ?!"Hardy asked his mum as he couldn't see Liza around .

"No ,I haven't!"She answered frankly .

"What about you aunt ?"He asked Elisa .

"I haven't seen her either !"She said bluntly .

"Then where can she be ?! I have searched everywhere and asked everyone but none of them has seen her!

I'm getting worried !

Do you think she's still upset about what happened earlier ?"Hardy asked anxiously .

" I don't think so son. Maybe she went into the gardens to have fresh air!"Peyton added taking a seat beside Elisa .

"You may be right mum ,I will go and search for her in the gardens!"Hardy left immediately .

"Liza,I have told you everything concerning my life and yet you have said nothing!

What I said seems impossible and unbelievable ,so why are you quiet ,Liza?"Clinton asked Liza as they took a stroll in the jungle .

"Whatever you said is worth freaking out Clinton!

But honestly ,I don't know how I should feel or react !

You said you're half alien and a human but who'd truly believe that ?

No one on the outside world !

Right now ,the only thing I know is how you've endured so much in life Clinton.

Whatever you said seemed strange and impossible to understand but I believe you !

I knew aliens once existed but I didn't know that I would meet one ,ever in my life!

"I was not wrong when I chose you to share my grief with me.

Honestly ,I thought you'd freak out and ran away !

But you're still here ...haha !"Clinton tugged her hair behind her ears .

"You know what? Even I have something strange to say !

I feel as if I'm connected to your story but I don't know how.

Clinton , each time I get closer to you,I feel as if I'm connected to you.I feel safe and comfortable by your side.

To cut the story short ,I honestly listened to your conversation because I wanted to find meanings to my nightmares !

I wanted to find out why you were always in my dreams even though I barely had that connection with you .Why?!"Liza asked confused .

"Do you also experience that ?!"Clinton asked shocked.

"Yes I do ! "I said surprised and waiting eagerly for what he had to say .

"Liza, I have met so many ladies but none is like you ! You are unique among all of them.

Ever since the day I set my eyes on you in highschool, I could feel your presence in my sleep.

You are in every dream and nightmare of mine and I can't seem to understand why it's you !"Clinton explained .

"Ha! So you also experience these nightmares ,is it ?"I asked looking forward to finding some answers from him .

"Yes I do ..!"Clinton answered frankly .

"I listened to you all this while hoping that you would find answers to my questions .

I was hoping you would tell me why you are always in my nightmares ,Clinton ! But I think it's not going to be possible ; you're just a notice to all this like me !"I asked wiping away my tears .It was really heartbreaking not finding any answers to what I was going through .

"I wish I could , Liza but I also don't have any answers. We are both stuck in this mess together. I wish there was a way out of this!

I wish I'd never see you cry ..I really do ! "Clinton said wiping away my tears with his thumb .

"So are you happy ?"He asked throwing some stones into the river .

"Today was supposed to be one of the most important moments of my life. I reunited with my best friend and accepted his marriage proposal but after what happened earlier,I don't know if I want to continue living this life .

I feel as if I rushed with my decision of accepting his marriage proposal.

Both families are doing everything in a rush without my consent or Hardy's.

And Hardy seems cool with it but I'm not !

Clinton ,I feel odd about this marriage.

I feel as if everyone is keeping me in the dark and I hate to feel that way!

I can stand everything in life but I can't stand when people make a fool out of me!"I said pouring my heart out to him .

"Do you love Hardy?!"Clinton asked with a doubt on his face .

"As for now ,I don't know because I'm beginning to have mixed feelings about him!

I wish I could just turn back time and reconsider my decision of getting married to him but I guess it's too late to do that.

I don't want to betray his love for me !"I added .

"What do your instincts tell you to do ?"Clinton asked again .

"To be honest ,I feel something is wrong with this marriage. I feel really uncomfortable, Clinton."I found myself admitting my true feelings to him .

"Do you think he's worth your trust ? Do you think your family and Hardy are worth your love and sacrifice ?

No matter the situation Liza , don't trust anyone not even those you consider true friends !

You are just nineteen and you have the chance to live a life full of happiness Liza ,don't just let this opportunity go ! You know ? I wish I was in your shoes .I would have enjoyed every bit of this day to the fullest but unfortunately I can never have that life no matter how I wish for it.

I guess ,I will have to die with this loneliness or better still ,get stuck in my bed like my mum! I don't really know !

But you've the life to live it and enjoy ! Don't let anyone teach you what to do !"Clinton said rubbing his hand in my hair .

"That's not true Clinton ,you have someone in your life who loves and appreciates you too !"I said giving him a tight hug.

"There is surely someone out there who loves you and will give up everything for your sake no matter what you are!

Whether an alien or human ,love triumphs over all !

I believe there's someone who will love you till death do you both apart!

There's someone who will die in your love and for your love only !"I muttered while hugging him .

"Who is that person Liza? Is it you ?"He asked pulling me from his embrace as our gazes met .

"I don't know what this feeling is called but with you I feel eternal protection!"I said rubbing my thumb on his cheeks .

"Then just kiss me Liza !"He said holding me by the waist and without a second thought ,our lips were deeply locked together .

"Maybe ,this is the reason why fate brought you into my life and into my dreams.

If you are not feeling comfortable by Hardy and your family ,then just join me to go away from here.

We can start life at fresh and live our own lives just the way we want it.

No one will scold us or encumber us . We will be free from pain and troubles !"Clinton said leaning his forehead on mine .

It was that ultimate feeling that I couldn't explain ,I wanted more of him and I liked his arms around me .

I never wanted to get out of that dream that we were in if it was even one .

"You might be right Clinton but I can't run away like a coward from my life and my fate !

No matter what happens ,I will have to face it.

Who knows ,maybe this uncertainty about my marriage is just mere hallucinations!

Besides,they are family and they won't do anything to harm me!"I said all this but myself wasn't allowing me to pull away from his arms .

"But you said you trusted your instincts Liza, so what happened now ?

Are you doubting your instincts now?"He asked me rubbing his cheeks against mine .

"No Clinton ,I'm not. I'm just trying to say that ,my instincts might be wrong this time probably because everything is going on too fast.

But as I already said,they are family and they won't hurt me .

Just trust me Clinton!

I'm telling you this as a friend because I consider you one so I hope our little secret doesn't go out.

Neither mine nor yours Clinton !"I said kissing him .It was a week to my wedding but I didn't know what I was doing in another man's arms .This was so unexplainable !

"Liza,don't trust people so much because they might betray you at any time.

I'm not going to do that to you because when I give you my word ,I stand by it.

But I just want you to be careful with the people around you.

None are saints Liza. One more thing ,if you trust your instincts so well then investigate your doubts before getting married to the wrong person.

Always have this in mind,I will be there for you every time you need me!"He said and kissed me .

"You have to go Liza because by now ,everyone would be looking for you.

Forget what happened now and focus on your future!"Clinton said embracing her for the last .

"Liza !![Hardy kept calling when he reached the gardens].

"So there you are Liza. You scared me to death .I was so worried thinking something has happened to you !"He said giving me a hug.

I gave Clinton the signal to go through the back gate so that nobody notices his presence .

"Don't worry Hardy,I just wanted some fresh air!"I said almost getting bored of his presence .

Honestly ,it felt like I never loved him at all .

"You could have told me and I would have come with you !"He said rubbing his palms on my cheeks but I quickly pulled away his hands with a smile on my face .

"There was no need ,besides I needed sometime alone to get over everything that happened earlier. I was really stressed out !"I walked a little bit away from him .

"I'm sorry for what happened earlier ,nothing was done to get you upset intentionally !"He hugged me from behind but I quickly turned to him and still smiled .

"It's no problem Hardy ,I'm over it now.But the way why do you want to marry so soon Hardy ?!"I asked hoping to know the original plan behind this marriage .

"Because we love each other and that is the best thing that has happened so far. After such a long period of separation ,I thought it wise to get engaged as soon as possible.

I'm happy that ,a week from today ,you will be all mine!"He said giggling and pulling my chin.

"I won't have to share you with anyone else !"He thought and embraced me with a smirk on his face .

I felt as if he was hiding something from me.

He could not look directly into my eyes to speak which meant he was certainly telling lies.

I needed to find out what it was before the marriage.

"Shall we go in ?"He asked leaning his chin on my shoulders seductively .

"Yes we should !"I took the lead to prevent his touch around me .

"Dear ,where have you been?!"My mum asked with a worried face .

"She was in the garden aunt and that too,all alone by herself!"Hardy replied from behind and walked closer .

"Don't worry mum,I just needed some fresh air.

I'm safe ,nothing has gone wrong!"I assured her .

"Come and give me a hug !"Mum said. As I hugged my mum ,I saw Clinton hiding behind one of the pillars upstairs.

"Oh my gosh! He's still here ? It's definitely going to be a scandal if anyone sees him here.

I need to get rid of him from here before anyone sees him and suspects something!"I thought and pulled away from my mum's embrace .

"I told you she's in the gardens. My God daughter loves to spend some time alone in the gardens especially when she's stressed out."Peyton said after changing from her heavy tiring gown .

"Aunt ,I'm sorry for making you worry ,I just needed sometime alone!"I tried to explain nonetheless ,still having my eyes on Clinton .

"I understand , I'm not upset instead I'm sorry for not telling you about the wedding earlier.

Your mum and I thought ,making it a surprise will be better since you and Hardy have always waited for this day.

I know it's too soon but it's for your own good my dear.

After marriage, you can still work as hard as you want. No one will stop you or make you do something against your will.

You will never be a burden and you will never lack for anything as well. I promise Liza !"Aunt Peyton assured me .That was worth competing my doubts about them .

"Aunt ,there's no need to remind me .I know you will always be here to protect me .

You are my family and I 'm sorry if I got upset earlier .

I know whatever you are doing for Hardy and I is for our own good ,so who am I to refuse your decision !

I can't and I will never refuse anything you say as far as you don't hide the truth from me.

I hope none of you are hiding anything from me right ?

I know you won't do that ,I trust in you all!"I said sarcastically but deep down ,I knew there was something I needed to know that they all had an idea of .

Clinton was still standing there and I needed an excuse to go away from them and meet him.

"Aunt, I'd like to use the washroom !"That was the only idea in mind .

"Okay ,go upstairs ,I think you can use the one in Hardy 's room!"Peyton said .

"Okay aunt !"

"Do you want me to come along ?"Hardy asked sarcastically ,

"Seriously ? Hardy ,this seems more personal so just stay here . I will be right back !"I quickly rushed upstairs .

"Do you think Liza is suspecting us for hiding the truth?"Peyton asked a bit unsecured about their secret .

"No mum ,I don't think so .She is used to the fact that her family can't lie to her. She asked just to feel assured !"Hardy added .

"You know how my daughter is like ,before she gets involved in any situation ,she wants to ensure that she knows everything about what she's getting into.

She asked to confirm her safety in the issue!"Elisa also added .

"Before she gets to know the truth and changes her mind ,the marriage must be over.

When that happens ,she can't get out of it because by then ,the bond of eternal marriage will be marked on her!"Drew chipped in .

"You are right dad ,so before she knows the truth ,she must have already been my wife !

I suggest we should tell her after she has become my wife because I can't afford to lose her to any human alien!"Hardy said putting some ice cubes into his whiskey .

"Hello ! Missing me already babe ?"Clinton pinned Liza to the wall and stole a kiss from her .

"Clinton ,what are you still doing here ?

I thought I asked you to leave so why are you here?

Do you want to cause trouble for me ?"I asked almost feeling frustrated .

"Relax babe ! Nothing will happen . As far as you are not scared of me ,we are good to go together!"He said kissing me one more time .

"I love you Liza !"He said and left as Hardy entered like a flash in a pan .
