Chapter one

Like always ,the firm was in a hustle and bustle with the attorneys settling cases .

Why was I surprised ? ,after all ,it was their normal routine .This time around ,some attorneys were settling their own cases regarding their marriage . Two attorneys from the family law department were settling their own problems in marriage because their partners had cheated them in their marital affair .This problem got them traumatised and as a result they both sought for a six - month leave from work .Attorney Escalante and attorney Vega were great attorneys in the law firm when it came to the field of family law but situational demands is not predictable .This makes me wonder if I could ever let go of my self and heart to get married . After living my life as if I were in wilderness ,I know that I can now get involved with any man of my choice and leave my life to the fullest but the bond mark created on me by Clinton wouldn't allow me .At times I wonder if Clinton and I would ever get back together as a couple . After what happened between us ,we still haven't made any amends towards the issue .

Ah well ,whatever being the case ,the people in my clan can live their lives just the way they want .These moments were great moments since it brought a sense of joy in my life .I'm happy that modernization has being embraced by my people . At least ,I can proudly say that , "the old things are gone and the new has come ".

It's eight o'clock ,Kara came in to remind me about my meeting with the share holders of the firm . For the past three months ,I have been handling and managing the firm on my own . I'm a now a majority share holder in the firm as well as Uncle Marcial and Clinton .Initially ,when the shares were handed over to me ,I didn't know how to manage the firm ,especially how to keep my eyes on the other attorneys in every department of the firm so that they don't shirk their responsibilities .I needed to make sure that ,the firm won more cases so that we don't get indebted .I also needed to motivate the attorneys in the firm by providing them with adequate incentives and remuneration . I found it difficult at the beginning but now ,I'm conversant with it .

Good morning ,I greeted as they all sat down and waited in anticipation for the meeting to proceed .I could tell that ,they had been waiting eagerly for me for the past ten minutes but I had to attend to something of necessity before meeting them . I confidently and comfortably sat down on the adjustable chair as I rolled my ball pen looking at the faces of the share holders .Their faces were covered up with frowns and I could tell they were upset with me for wasting their time .

Gentlemen ,I said as Carmen who is the head secretary began to put down the minutes ,sorry for the delay and thanks for your patience .I know every single minute of yours is money and that is why you don't procrastinate since it is the thief of time .That not withstanding ,I would like us to proceed with the meeting .The proposal for today's meeting is right in front of you so I would like you to go through and tell me what you think of it .I was sure that they would accept the proposal and at least they are going to see the essence of coming ten minutes late for a meeting .Being a lady ,who has been sandwiched between these gentlemen , I needed to make sure that ,every step I took brings nothing but success to the firm .

After a while of going through the proposal ,they accepted it .Of course ,I had increased their monthly salary by five percent and that was not done anywhere but because the firm and shares were growing ,I needed to make the share holders have a taste of it to encourage them to keep investing in the firm . At this moment ,I couldn't afford to lose a share holder .I needed to do everything to maintain the good name of our firm and that included hiring new interns to work in the firm .Apart from getting experience in working in the field of law ,they would be of great help since they would assist the other attorneys with heavy work loads in their work .
