Past pt.2

Jane lays calmly on my chest as I stroke her head from time to time in attempts to completely calm her down. What might've been so toxic and left such a bad impact on her mind like that? I'm still curious about it.

"Jane...?" No response.

"Baby..." again, no response. I sigh and turn my head towards her only to see her crying silently. Tears slowly spill out of her eyes and it honestly is making me tear up too.

"Baby, honey, please tell me what happened to you? Who did this to you...? Please tell me, Jane, please..." I practically beg at this point. She shakes her head very softly, closing her eyes and releasing a ragged breath.

"You're hurting me too, Jane. Please tell me."

"You won't believe it Ron..."

I try my best to stay calm, but it's clear that I'm failing in doing do. The fact that I can't get inside her head and read her thoughts because we haven't mated yet makes me even more frustrated and I impulsively tug on her arm, yanking it to the side and getting up to sit on the bed.

"R-Ron!" I contain myself from rolling my eyes and release a deep sigh. I already know what's going to happen, and there's no way I can stop that. So I let her grab my shirt from behind and discordantly turn me around to face her.

"That f*going hurt me Ron! You'll never know what I've been through!" she yells on my face.

That's it.

"IT'S BECAUSE YOU HAVEN'T TOLD ME OKAY!?" I scream back and regret immediately when her hands drop from the collar of my shirt.

"N-no...baby I—"

"Get out."

"Jane I'm so—"

"I SAID GET OUT!"

The anger returns to me and I stride heavily towards the door, slamming it behind me sorely.

Doesn't she trust me anymore? She depended her whole life in me that day at the Cursed alley, so why is she acting up now? I might be an impulsive person but I never, ever intend to hurt the ones I love.

But I just did...

And I couldn't be more upset over the whole situation.

My powerful strides soon turns into an jog, and I'm running at full speed into nowhere.

The hallways seem endless. Twists and turns in every twenty meters and I begin to get baffled by the endless routes of this huge palace.

"ARGH!!" I yell, but it only resounds back to me which makes me sick to the core.

"Why Jane...? What happened to you...? Please tell me..." I say to no one in particular, sinking into my knees and praying to the Moon Goddess.

"Oh Goddess, you've always shown me a way. Please do show me a way this one time too Goddess. Please" I bring my hands together and attach to my forehead.

"Hey! What are you doing over there!?" I hear a man shouting at the end of the hallways. His footsteps are marching towards me but once I fully come into his view, he widens his eyes and bows down to me.

"S-sire...please forgive me. I didn't think it was you!" he exclaims and bows multiple times before helping me stand up straight.

"Sire what's wrong? You don't look too good. Do you need some nursing? Does it hurt anywhere?"

Yes, kind man. It hurts right here...in my heart.

But I couldn't say it out loud. And of course, I helplessly took his support to walk without wobbling around like a newborn deer. It looked like he was taking me back to my room but I politely refused to do so. And hence I ended up right here in the middle of the large garden, the aromatic, flowery garden I strolled with alongside the Queen yesterday.

"What have I done..." I recent on my actions, again, tears gathering up until the brink of my eyelashes and pattering on the floor beside my feet.

I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have left her on her own when she desperately needed me the most. But yet I did and I feel miserable.

"There he is. RONALD!" a loud yell calling out my voice snaps me out of my headspace and I look at the owner of the voice, my eyes wide and glistening.

"What the hell Ronald!? You made the princess cry!? Do you even know what she's been through?! No! You couldn't even stay by her side for a fee hours! How can we ever keep her in your responsibility when you've actually PROVEN your worth already!?"

It was one of Jane's friends who was yelling right onto my face.

Truth hurts.

And it definitely hurt me very badly.

"L-look, I'm sorr—"

"A simple sorry isn't going to fix this!" she yelled again, cutting me off.

"Please tell me what happened to her..." I ask her uneasily.

"She seen abused...by her cousin..."

I walk back to my room lifelessly after I've heard the dark truth behind my lovely mate's tragic past. It shouldn't have been her...but it was...

And I shouldn't have left her...but I did.

"Jane...?" I softly call for her name, but to no avail. I gather up my courage and gingerly try to open the door.

There she is...

Hidden under the comforts of the duvets that I should've provided.

"Oh Jane..." I caress her silky brown hair. I watch her as she stirs awake, anger replacing the blank emotions in her orbs.

And I did deserve that.

"What are you here?"

"For you, sweetness. Please let me in" I tug at the hem of the duvet. She snatches it to herself and turns the other way, but I'm as stubborn as I can be.

I walk to the other side and try again, but only to be ignored and snarled at.

"Jane please...I'm sorry. I'm extremely apologetic of m-my actions. I love you..." I softly say, proceeding to trap her below me and pepper her warm face with kisses. She struggles to push me away at first, but eventually gives in when she realizes she was no match for my strength.

"I'm so sorry it had to be you, baby. But I'm here now. And no one is ever, ever going to lay a finger on fingerprints going through me. That's a promise, my love."

And I never break my promises.

Ever.
