How could someone reject such an offer to work at the palace? As your best friend's handmaid??

Daniel accepted the offer without giving it a second thought or whatsoever.

The main reason was...Ronald knew his best friend was suffering financially. As humble and pious his parents look, they have been emotionally disrupting his peace by pointing fingers at him for not becoming stable, yet.

He was just a twenty-two year old lad who was fresh out of college.

Campus interviews were a no-no to him. The rules of this city making Daniel cringe and reject every campus job offer.

Sure, his parents were too adamant on him to get a job but it was never his priority.

He is waiting for his mate.

Just like his best friend did.

It was funny how the duo were too late to be paired with their mates, the actual or average age being eighteen.

But Daniel was waiting.

Hence, the hopeless romanticism.

It was almost midnight when Ronald and Daniel were fast asleep, but the beta suddenly sat up on his bed, abruptly, causing his overprotective best friend to get up hastily as well.

"Dan? Bro? Why'd you get up like tha—"

"I feel it"

What...

Sleepiness was still over on him like a blanket but he wanted to confirm his words.

"What?"

"I feel it, Ron. I feel her. I FEEL HER!" Daniel exclaimed giddily, jumping out of his bed to get to the main door to put on his shoes and run out. Ronald was still in the bed as he saw his beta best friend run out like Usain Bolt, jolting out of his house in the cold streets only on his night pajamas.

"Ugh he aways does that." Ronald groaned at his friend's incredible actions and flew straight out of the window, making sure he was invisible before he did so.

He skimmed through the streets in search of his werewolf friend. It wasn't the first time the boys have had a sleep over, and it definitely not the first time when Daniel would snap himself out of dreamland run around the streets in search of his mate.

Ronald felt bad for his friend, obviously. No wolf has ever prayed to not be blessed with a mate. The ones who died of a tragedy before they found each other...that was an another story.

Ronald never felt the need to have a mate, a reason to live for a mate because he had other responsibilities. He swore to the Moon Goddess he was going to accept anyone as his mate, and the Goddess was generous enough to pair him with the most beautiful, incredible and intelligent woman.

He scoffed happily and continued searching for his friend until he stopped by at the bush, watching Daniel knock on a mahogany door of a noble man's house, furiously, impatiently.

Ronald snickered at his friend being pulled away by the guards who were astonished by the trespasser.

"I want to meet my mate! LET ME THROUUUUUGH!" he whined like a child. Ronald threw his head back in amusement and laughter rumbled inside his personal invisibility bubble.

His friend was not the one to be so cute.

"I am Ronald's best friend! Let me through! I mean no harm!"

The elemental's jaw dropped.

How brave of him to use his title and exploit its advantages?

The smirk was angry and amused, Ronald folding his arms over his chest as he glared at the beta trying to get past the large doors of the house.

"What is the commotion about?" An elderly man in his late adulthood walked out, analyzing the situation and the beta slightly cowered in fear.

The old man was an alpha, a really strong one and the tone with which he spoke made the trespassing beta to slightly adjust to his rank.

"Seriously man. Just tell him you're paired with his daughter." Ronald spoke through the mind link he developed with his friend, the beta startling at the sudden voice in his head.

"Right..." he acknowledged, but to no one in specific.

"Sir. I'm Daniel, Beta, and I have a feeling I am paired with your daughter."

Ronald lunged forward in laughter when his friend got slapped straight in the face.

Happy tears made their way into his eyes and he laughed at his friend's dumbness.

"THAT'S NOT HOW IT GOES YOU MOFO!"

Daniel slightly hissed when the sting started to become sensitive against the chilly nightly breeze. He growled, but the growl was hear as a kitten's attempt to roar to the alpha nobleman.

"Papa?" A voice of a woman, sweet yet strong was heard from the other side of the mahogany door. Ronald knew exactly who that voice belonged to.

The alpha female of their college.

The Queen bee.

The one and only Valarie Davies.
