Chapter Twenty-Eight

Persephone

A persistent knock on the door woke me from sleep. I yawned and opened my eyes to Teris' face in front of mine. He looked so peaceful sleeping and I almost cursed at whoever was knocking at this time.

I got out of bed lazily and strolled to the door. I looked myself over before unlocking the door. I surely looked a mess but it was early after all. I could bother myself with getting dressed so quickly.

As I removed the last bolt, Orien pushed the door open quickly. He would have slammed right into me had I not stepped aside.

"Orien what--"

"Forgive me." He said and resumed panting.

Teris yawned behind me. "Orien, I warned you not to--"

"News came from the palace."

Teris shot up from the bed immediately. "What happened? Why do you look like that? Did something happen?"
