The doctor diligently watches the officers prepare for their raid when another thought comes to mind. He gazes up at the clock. I hope the organs keep until this is over. 


The healthy specimens are stored in a small plastic cooler and are surrounded by dry ice, wet ice, and gel packs. All three components are needed to maintain maximum cooling, which in turn extends the allotted time. Harold knows that even under the best circumstances, the life-saving tissue will only keep for so long. 


He envisions the people who are anxiously awaiting their arrival. He then pictures their families rejoicing at their bedside, happy their nightmare is over. I wish we could've done this for mom. 


He lost his mother to kidney failure at a very young age. Her grave illness and years of merciless suffering are the reasons why he chose the medical field. He found his true calling when he was in his second year of residency.
