Outbreaks, money and trigger's.
While everyone positioned themselves, Gabriel hit the 1st Globin's neck by surprise. The cut was not deep, so Gabriel continued to have to fight the 1st globin. Laura was behind casting a spell with her unrecognizable whispers, it seemed like dozens of words being spoken on top of each other. Larissa was facing 2nd goblin along with Zoe right in front of Laura, while Miguel held the 3rd goblin a little further away with his shield.
Gabriel was controlling himself, he was angry that he hadn't managed to kill immediately again. But he had nothing to do, even good hunters didn't get it that easy. At least not against strong monsters. Goblins, after all, are very resistant. He tried to hit the 1st goblin on his left arm, but the creature simply ducked. Then, he began to deliver strikes in sequence in the same way that he defended possible counter attacks with a single dagger in hand.
I think it's already good, here we go again.
That was his play. Gabriel used a dagger at the beginning of the entire fight, when his opponent was used to the pattern of blows, Gabriel feigns an attack and pulls the other dagger, hitting the opponent on the other side. And he did it again. However, by faking a blow on the left and giving the blow on the other side, it was as if everything was in slow motion.
Shit, he'll be able to defend. - lamented.
Gabriel didn't make it this time. But it was not the first. The times when he hunted before, even if only a few, served as an experience and they already do it better in improvisation. The first time it didn't work he freaked out, froze, but luckily Zoe was helping him at the moment. But that was not the case now. And he would have to improvise again.
At the sound of the two melee weapons hitting each other, Gabriel quickly kicked the 1st goblin in the belly, which fell to the ground, roaring in pain.
— Thirrn.
I'm amazing as hell.
Gabriel looked quickly back to analyze the situation of the others. Miguel continued to fight against the 3rd goblin, giving some blows, which the goblin deflected, and defending himself, but the goblin was visually more hurt and tired. Zoe and Laura seemed to be having difficulties, apparently a 4th goblin appeared and now they were all one-on-one, the best chance was for Laura to cast a spell right away. And luckily, Gabriel looked at the exact moment it happened. The whispers grew louder, and then:
— Ush!
This time it was different from the first time. Laura had three spells to be exact. What Gabriel saw first, the invisible projectile. In addition to the healing magic, and one in which Gabriel was not sure why, but the goblins lost their senses, they were struggling as if they had a strong headache or something holding them back, and that's what Laura used in the 2nd goblin, who fought with Larissa. Without wasting time Larissa stabbed him several times with his machete in the belly, chest and neck of the 2nd goblin, soon, he was dead. Then, she looked around, also analyzing the situation, and shouted:
— Gabriel, is everything alright?
He looked at the 1st goblin, who was getting up and released:
— Yes, No problems.
She spoke to the others too, giving orders and advice, but Gabriel did not listen, because before the 1st goblin recovered 100%, Gabriel had to finish it, deepening the cut that was already in his neck.
Things were going well, but that was not enough. They were repeating the failure that was occurring. They had been hunting for two weeks and they lacked money. Before there were three people for up to four goblins, but the victory was suffered, the wear and tear was very big. Now it's up to five against five. The group almost doubled the number of members, while hunting for goblins increased little, apart from the times they fought with smaller groups, as now. The hole left was gradually growing, and they knew they would soon have to do something.
I don't have time to think about it, I have to focus on the here, and now. - Gabriel thought, shaking his head and running towards Miguel.
Now the battlefield was different, the victory was almost certain. While Larissa and Zoe struggled with the 4th goblin, Laura was preparing healing magic for Larissa so she couldn't do much more anytime soon. Miguel was almost defeating the goblin, and Gabriel's help was the final trigger. He arrived from behind, trying to hit the 3rd goblin's back, but he noticed and dodged, facing both of them. However, there was no more fighting there, with Gabriel giving a quick sequence of attacks on the left side and Miguel unleashing strong attacks on the right side, even if the 3rd goblin was not badly injured, as he was, he would not be able to survive much more. It was a matter of minutes before he faltered. The 3rd goblin slipped while trying to dodge one of Gabriel's daggers and fell backwards to the ground, Miguel took the opportunity and ended it with an extremely strong blow in the middle of his face.
Man, I have to admit, this guy's strength is absurd.
In the same instant, in Zoe and Larissa's fight with the 4th goblin. It was a little fierce, because before Larissa arrived to help, Zoe was having difficulties and was hurt a little further. Nothing to worry about. Larissa came running and tried to hit his leg, failing because the 4th goblin jumped, at that moment, he also defended Zoe's sword coming towards him from above, being pushed back and falling to the ground, but quickly getting up. Larissa looked at Laura and let go:
— How much time?
— Less than a minute.
Then she looked at Zoe and pointed her eyes to Zoe go left. The two went at the same time, one on each side, Zoe used a skill called zig-zag, she cut with her sword quickly underneath on the way, and then cut diagonally up the back. The 4th goblin jumped again, and then held the sword back with his dagger. But Larissa was there, and forced him to let go, with an attempt to cut his neck, which forced him to bend over. When the 4th goblin looked up to compose himself, the last thing he saw was the sword in a strong blow by Zoe. At that moment, Larissa looked at Miguel and Gabriel who had just killed the 3rd goblin and were giving a high five, even though only Miguel had jumped. Zoe had sat on the floor, she was hurt and tired.
— Laura.
— Yes?
— You don't have heal me anymore, now I need you to heal Zoe.
— OK.
She started to whisper as the cube floated.
Oh. I wanted her to heal me now, that little cut on my cheek is starting to bother me. But she will probably heal me in some upcoming battle. This is not really a concern. - Gabriel was thinking about his injury from a previous battle.
— You two come here. — Larissa and Gabriel's eyes meet.
Everyone came together in a semicircle. Miguel and Gabriel were on the right, Zoe sat on the left, Laura was further behind and Larissa almost in the center.
— It must be almost noon, get the spoils and let's have lunch.
— Yes, sir. — Miguel replied.
Gabriel found some chains and shiny stones that seemed to be worth targeting in the 1st goblin and picked it up, each had taken some things from the goblins and went back to the city after Zoe was healed, without saying much.
— Okay, this afternoon we are going to hunt and then we take our money. Tomorrow you can take the day off, spend your money on training, clothes, food ... you get it, spend whatever you want, or don't spend it. — Larissa said, distributing everyone's bread in the school dormitory.
Everyone nodded.
Isn't she really going to talk about all the pretty little money terms?
I mean, what good is a day to spend, if I have nothing to spend.
Something needed to change, but it was not up to Gabriel to decide, and he knew he had no credibility. It had to be Larissa or Miguel, even Laura would do.
— Gabriel.
— Hã. Hi, Miguel, I was distracted.
— You did well today. It's getting better, just don't lose your head and freak out in the middle of the battle like you used to. If you don't, everything will be fine, all in time.
— Thanks, brother.
It's not fine, we aren't fine at all.
I still haven't improved in those weeks. If I were stronger, maybe we would fight more goblins and make more money. I need to improve a lot more.
I keep saying that and staying the same.
In fact, Gabriel was freaking out, inside. In previous hunts, he wanted to do more, he hurried and ended up making several mistakes in the fight, sometimes when he fought two goblins alone, even one, he attacked like crazy, stumbled or missed, and took a counter attack easy. Luckily, Zoe or someone was always with him. Realizing that he was only delaying his colleagues, he controlled himself, but his outbreaks inside continued.
— How far will we go this time? — He asked.
— The usual. — Larissa replied.
Things went well, Larissa's group killed 9 more goblins, a group of five and a group of four respectively. They had already taken the money and were free. Gabriel changed his change of clothes, now he had two, the one he came with, jeans and school shirt, he threw away, it was totally over. He bought beige shorts and a black shirt to replace and he still has that from the thieves. He used the thieves cloths to go hunting and the shorts with the black shirt casually, and it was with the same one that he went to the bar.
Usually, he goes there with Zoe, or even Miguel or Larissa. But today he went alone, the others wanted to rest. But for him, that was his rest. Gabriel was going to the bar casually, at first he refused, but soon he was. In the first week it was twice, in the second week it increased to four, now, in the third week, this was the fourth time he was going, but probably he'd going more. The bar was in the center, it was the only one Gabriel knew. It was big, it had tables surrounded by chairs in the middle and around, close to the walls, the chairs were attached to the floor, and they were more comfortable, with a type of pillow implanted in them. There is also the counter, with stools, and that's where Gabriel stayed.
— Hey, bring me another passion fruit vodka.
They can barely get the technology back, but alcohol, in an instant. — Gabriel laughed at the thought, although there is obviously an abyss of difference between the two. It wasn't his first drink today, so it wasn't so much in itself anymore.
— Well, well, do you really have money to pay for this? — A man, tall and strong, released, sitting next to Gabriel.
— Shut up, John.
John was an awakened one too, in the time since Gabriel woke up, he met some people, as expected. John was famous, he was a good hunter and Gabriel met him at the bar.
— Or what? Everyone knows you're poor, man. You guys cannot hunt the minimum necessary for survival and still spend here.
— I told you to shut the fuck up!
Fuck it all.
Gabriel stood up, punching the cheek on the right side of John's face. He turned his face slowly, his eyes filled with anger. At that moment, Gabriel realized the shit he had done, but it was hopeless.
Shit.
— You didn't do that ...
— Hey, man, it was my b... — Before Gabriel could finish, John punched himself in the face.
Gabriel fell off the stool. Everyone started to look and the commotion started, shouting everywhere.
— Come on, get up! — John kicked Gabriel, who was still down.
Slowly Gabriel got to his feet, in the time that a wheel was forming, with him and John in the middle.
— Look, bro, you don't need to ... — Another punch exploded in Gabriel's mouth, he didn't fall this time, but he spit blood.
John who was in the pose of a boxing match was further back now, giving Gabriel a chance to go on the attack.
Are you kidding me? Son of a bitch.
— If that's how you want it ...
Gabriel threw a punch, which John easily deflected. Then Gabriel continued punching after punching and without hitting any.
This.
Piece of shit.
It is not because.
We are.
Earning little.
That we are weak.
At one point, John got tired, he dodged again, took the arm Gabriel had used to punch him with one arm, with the other he punched him hard in the belly, then, took Gabriel's head with both hands and threw against his knee, Gabriel fell to the ground, groaning in pain. John still kicked him a few times, until someone came and interrupted everything.
— Hey! Hey! What the hell is happening here? — He pushed John, and checked Gabriel for a moment. Then, he looked at John as if he could kill him in a second and continued. — I don't care if you're a good guy, you'd better get out of here right now, man.
