THE FAMILY - PART TWO

After what Aella said before heading inside…Sol was still trying to gulp that down her throat. She sat down on the bench looking at space at a point. Everything flashed back into her memory. Suddenly she felt her heart leaping so hard. It was pounding that she could hear her own heartbeat. Her wrist band blinked with a signal suggesting tachycardia. She took some deep breaths to settle down and clear her mind. Then she stood up and moved inside after taking a look at a nearby security camera.

“Tell me…? What is it…?” Aella said looking at Ax.

“Do you think he is referring to himself at the end…?” he asked her clearing his throat.

Aella nodded.

“How…?”

“Well…if you ask me…I think what he wants to say here is this: everything and everyone that is around us affects us. In the former chapters…I mean in his early life…Sinclair was being affected by his surroundings in the same way. He was being prepared for the world in his coming years….that is the eggshell.” She stopped and looked at Ax. He nodded and added. “So the bird is Sinclair.” Aella nodded.

“Simply putting…the society. Its rules and regulations…its ethics…all of them represents the egg shall…the world.”

“Then the Abraxas is the choices that we made.” Ax said cutting Aella in between. She smiled and nodded.

“So you got that.” She said stretching her arms in air.

“Oh I’m smart.” He said proudly.

“Indeed.” The she sat on the chair nearby and looked at her bookshelf.

Ax was flipping through the pages while she was busy with her thoughts.

“Ax there is something that I need to tell you.” Ax looked at her putting the book on the edge of the bed.

“Yes Aella.” He sat in a very attentive position like a soldier.

Aella looked at him…in his eyes to grasp the situation. Then she looked away.

“No…leave it! Nothing to bother about.”

“Are you sure…? You can tell me if you want to. I know I’m not mature enough to understand certain things but you can rely on me….”

“Stop irritating me.” Aella said putting her head in her hands leaning forward.

Ax smiled and stood up.

“No. I will not. You always do this.”

“Stop it Ax.” She said again.

“Oh well…you know what okay. Let’s leave it.” He said finally gauging the tension. He then moved toward the door and turned the knob.

“Hey…I hope you know that.”

“Know what…?

“That we are family.” Saying this he left her room with a sweet smile. Aella kept looking at him as he shut the door leaving her alone in her room. She then realized that these were exactly her words to sol. She smiled to herself and lay down in her bed to get some sleep before the next day.

Sol was taking her medicines and injections when Ax arrived to the basement.

“What are you doing old lady…?” he asked her.

She looked at him and ignored him as if it was unnecessary to react to him.

“Come on…your facial palsy will increase to a deadly rate if you keep this straight look up for so long.” He said again to gain a reaction from her.

She then turned to him and took a long look of him.

“You should rest Ax.” Saying this she got busy with her computer leaving Ax clueless how to react.

“Okay. Good night sol.”

“Good night Ax.”

He went to his consol and attached his outlets to the charging ports. Sol took final glimpses of him before he shut his eyes off and smiled to herself.

“Yes we are a family.” She said under her breath.

“Honey do you think this will work…?”

I think so. I have invested my past three years for this darling. It has to work. This is our last hope.”

“I hope this will work dear.”

“Our last testing is left for human trials. We have successes in rats and rhesus.”

“Well that’s very good news.”

“It is. It will be revolution in the history of medicine my love. Cancer and other chronic cellular disorders will be of no concern later.”

Mom smiled at him as I came from my school back. I ran down the corridor to get to mom.

“Mom”

“Oh my girl is here. How was your day…?”

“It was good mom.” Dad looked at me and smiled eye to eye as he took me into his lap.

“So what did you studied today?”

“We drew today daddy.”

“Oh…and what did you made…?” I reached out to my bag and hold out my sketch sheet.

“I made us.” I said with a proud smile “oh honey…look…she made all of us. How beautiful.” Dad said showing my sketchbook to mom.

“And what is the title…”

“We are family.” I said with a chuckle.

Suddenly the phone ring and dad gave me to mom.

“Hello..?”

“Yes…why…? What happen…?”

“But how can they do this…? We have cleared 2nd and 3rd trials. They can’t cancel this now.”

“Okay I will talk to them myself. There is no need to worry about it.”

Saying this dad hung the call with an angry look on his face.

“What happened honey..?” mom asked him sitting me on the chair and handing my book to me.

“The higher ups are pressurizing us to stop the trial.”

“But they can’t do this.”

“I have to go to lab now. I will see you later in evening.”

“Okay! Just be careful.” Mom said giving him a peck on his cheek. He then kissed me and left for his work.

“What happen Charlie…?”

I don’t know sir. We received these orders from higher office that we have to withhold from this now. They want take over with their own team from now on over this.” Dad looked at Charlie as he handed him orders prints.

“We can’t do that. It’s our work.”

“I was also saying this to them but they are not listening.”

“Okay I will see this now. You go and secure the system before anything else happens. We have to be prepared for the worst. Our data is most important.”

“Okay sir.

With this dad left Charlie in the lobby and went to his office. He then sat down on his chair and dialed for his higher office.

“Mr. Roosevelt…what is going on…?”

“I just got orders from the central office. This is what we have to do.”

“What do you mean by this…?”

“You have to handover this to their team now.”

“To whom…their team? But this is my work. I can’t do this Mr. Roosevelt.

“Well…we have more intelligent people than you and more broad ideas about it.”

“What…?”

“You are just sticking to medicine and cancer when we can change whole human race with this technology.” Said Mr. Roosevelt.

“You mean genetic manipulation for human programming…?”

“We have people who are more capable than you. You have to handover this today itself.”

“I can’t believe you. Why you are doing this?”

“A new generation will be born…why are you not looking at the broader picture…?”

“So it is Gusto.” Dad said in frustration grasping the situation.
