Chapter 17

It seems like we weren't noticed by Revi or someone because they were all busy having fun about something.

I went my way to the girl's comfort room while Aubrey was tailing me from behind, busy wandering her eyes. I knocked all of the door's cubicle to make sure that no one was inside so that we could talk privately.

I pushed the last cubicle door which made Aubrey chuckle.

"Aren't you paranoid?" She asked before going in front of the huge rectangular mirror.

I sighed and eyed her seriously. "I was just making sure."

She nodded and pulled her powder foundation out from her sling bag. She was applying powder while looking at me through the mirror.

She chuckled again before closing her powder. "You're too firm. Ease up, will you Amelia?"

I heaved a deep sigh before walking near her. She surveyed me conspicuously while I am staring at myself in the mirror.

"Aubrey," I called.

I saw how her eyes glided smoothly from me to the mirror. Her brows shut up upon she heard me calling her name.

"Yes?"

I took a deep sigh as my grip on the sink tightened.

"Do you like my boyfriend?" I asked while looking at her straight in the eyes through the mirror.

Her lips parted but after a split second, she arched her brow before her once parted lips formed into a smirk.

"What are you going to do if I'll say yes, Amelia?" Aubrey asked, taunting.

I secretly swallowed the lump on my throat before turning her way who's still looking at the mirror.

"I'll figure that out once I hear your answer."

She turned around to face me while she was still wearing her smirk. "What is?"

"What I'm going to do if you'll say yes," I said. I don't know what I'm going to do either but more likely, I'll let it pass and trust Revi.

She shrugged before tucking a loose strand of her hair behind her right ear. "I like Revi, Amelia."

I wasn't surprised to hear that anymore but my grip on the sink tightened. Aubrey dramatically gasped before covering her mouth. She let out an exaggerated, dramatic voice right after.

"Oh, right. Revi is your boyfriend," she said, making it sounds like she didn't know that I am the girlfriend of the guy she's taking a liking at.

She leaned a little forward with her hand holding to the sink, supporting her weight. "What are you going to do? I mean, he's your boyfriend so will you claim him as yours? Hmm like... 'Revi is mine, Aubrey. Back off.' Like that, perhaps?"

My patience was slowly stretching into a thin line but I cannot lose my composure because if I would, I don't know what I'm going to do with her. I held onto my patience being etched because that is the right thing to feel. To hold back.

I shook my head. "Revi's not mine."

Her smile widened. "Exactly! Revi's not yours. He's not yours, to begin with!"

My shoulders relaxed. "And Revi's not yours either, Aubrey. Revi doesn't belong to anyone. Revi belongs to Revi. And do you know why he will never belong to you?"

She didn't reply but only waited for the answer to my own question.

I took a step closer. "Because even I, as the girlfriend, doesn't claim him as mine too. What right do you have to brand him as yours when you're just a nobody to someone like him?"

Her mouth gaped and her eyes widened before unconsciously taking a step back from me, affected.

I eyed him from head to toe. "Unless you're a delusional bitch like what Dehlia told me."

I gave Aubrey a sweet smile before smoothly gliding my body from her way back to the huge mirror in front of us. In a split second after meeting my reflection in the mirror, I found my hair being grabbed by her forcibly.

"Who are you calling a delusional bitch, Amelia!?"

My hold on her hand tightened as I tried to pull her hand off from my hair but the more it lasted, her grip on my hair tightens more and more.

"Aubrey, stop!"

I never knew that she could pull someone's hair this tight! I have witnessed her grabbing a girl's hair and into catfights but I was never the victim because we were really good friends then. I never got my hair grabbed by someone before and I was not a magnet of catfights and never have I ever fought with anyone but after finally experiencing this, it felt like all the strands of my hair were being pulled apart from my head!

"Does that make you feel mighty, huh Amelia?! Being the girlfriend of Revi, that is?! Do you think you have all the right!?"

Aubrey is really good at this. I don't even know how could I shove her hand away and let alone, defend myself! My head feels like cracking because of a fast banging of her pull and push.

"I didn't even say that, Aubrey. Ouch! Will you let go of my hair!?"

She forcibly made me turn to her while her right hand was still gripping on my hair, pulling it. She's perfectly fine yet here I am, a total mess! She definitely has an advantage when it comes to this! How could I possibly beat her?

"I am so fed up with everything! You always get everything! You're always one step ahead of others... ahead of me! You always know your way to the top! You're always noticed without exerting an ounce of effort! Do you think I settled with being just the number 2, huh?!"

I panted hard and so is she. My grip on her wrist tightened but her hold on my hair just tightened. There's no end to this!

"We could just talk without you, pulling my hair!"

She rolled her eyes before pulling my hair backward which made me groan in pain.

"If someone would ask me what's my fantasy, I'd say this is it!"

My eyes were bloodshot because of the tears escaping from the side of my eyes because of pain. I glared at Aubrey with piercing eyes.

"Do you really think you're going to surpass me with this?!" I asked, ridiculed. "I pity you, Aubrey. Do you really think you could surpass me with just this?! With this? Just a mere pulling of hair?!"

Aubrey screamed right in front of my face and I then felt her grip on my hair weakened. I took that as an opportunity to shove her hand away and distance myself away from her.

We were both catching our breath while staring and looking at each other. I weakly leaned my back against the sink. I lost my energy from that and my head was about to explode. I was completely at a disadvantage when it comes to physical fights. I've never been engaged to one.

"I don't need your pity, Amelia!"

I panted hard before shaking my head.

"Your reason... is immature," I said in between my struggle of breathing.

I saw how her face flushed red and before I could say anything that could calm her nerves down, I wasn't given a chance to even utter a single word because she was just so quick to grab and pull my hair. She even got a hold of my arm, her long nails were almost burying on my skin. It hurts so much!

I saw how my arm bled. Blood cascaded from my arm down to my wrist.

"Aubrey... you're hurting me," I winced in pain. She didn't seem to hear that because she was so busy venting her anger towards me. Crimson red blood then cascaded from my arm down to my wrist. Her stares were penetrating, almost piercing me. That's how angry she was.

"If I am the same Aubrey as before, I'd politely ask you, 'How to be you?' but things have now changed... I've changed, Amelia."

I feel like laughing if only I didn't feel any pain right now. My head was throbbing that it felt like it's about to explode. Her grip on my arm was like touching my veins. I can't feel anything but the pain from my physical wounds and sympathy because her eyes say the opposite.

"I had a dream," she said. "I was looking up to you while you're looking down on me... tied in a rope and your body hanging in the air."

Chills crept in me upon hearing what Aubrey has said. My heart beats fast that I could no longer keep up, causing me to struggle with breathing.

Aubrey gave me a smile which made my feet cold and my lips tremble in fear. "I like the scene. Do you like it too?" She asked before a tear escaped on her eye.

"I... I don't like it, Aubrey. Y-you're crazy," I mumbled in fear. She wasn't the Aubrey I once knew. This evolution of Aubrey was scary and frightening.

I always find the goodness in every person and we do undergo evolution to adapt to the changes in the world. I understand that and that is why I view evolution as a good process but seeing what Aubrey has now become, my ideals and beliefs were shattered.

She chuckled before shaking her head. "This is..."

As fast as lightning, she slapped me with her hand holding a powder foundation, giving the slap a much more heavy intensity. I felt how the thing she's holding crushed a bone on my cheek which made me cough blood, causing me to fall on the cold floor, almost kissing the white, rough tiles.

"...goodbye," I heard her say before my sight was enveloped by vast darkness.
