chapter 20| Hibi

"We're going to get her back"

Caspian nodded sarcastically, narrowing his eyes at me "We are aren't we?" I shot him a glare, oddly offended by his unbelieving tone.

"What's that supposed to mean?" He raised an eyebrow. "We are going to get her back".

"You say that... yet we've been standing here for the past fifteen minutes whilst you stare off into space, murmuring 'we're going to get her back'" He whispered imitating me. I shoved him lightly.

"I'm thinking of a plan" I huffed, crossing my arms across my chest. Cas leaned on the dirty wall across me.

"Oh really? And what have you come up with so far."

"Nothing" I muttered, Cas snorted and shot him another nasty look. "Well, what plan do you have 'Mr I know everything?'" The confidence that washed over his face slightly through me off.

Oh, he actually has a plan?

"Easy, we sneak into the Spades prisons and bust her out" I rolled my eyes.

"Caspian do you have an idea of where the spade dungeons are?" Confusion filled his features.

"No-

"Yeah, you don't" I snapped "They're right under Adaora's palace" His eyes widened.

"Why in the four kingdoms would she keep them there?" I pinched the bridge of my nose.

"Control Cas, she wants to sleep knowing that any prisoners that try to escape will be devoured by her guard dog" He paled, which is surprising considering his complexion.

"She has a guard dog?!" I looked away.

"Of sorts" I answered vaguely "But that's not the point she also has a very, very complex security system and the best warriors in all of the kingdoms protecting her castle".

He raised an eyebrow "What is she afraid of fighting off people herself?" I snorted.

"She's too good at fighting so she rarely does unless she finds a, and I quote 'worthy opponent'" I sighed.

"So what are these warriors of hers called?"

"They're called the Datura" I explained.

"Hey isn't that a flower-

"Shut up"

The Datura were a team of specially trained warriors that worked underneath Adaora. They were trained underneath her hand and her hand only and she taught them to kill.

When I was in training to be one I went through the harshest two years I've ever had to go through. Adaora pushed us to our limits and beyond that as she forced us to go through harsh exercises all in the means to make us perfect.

In a sick and twisted way, she saw us as pets.

If she'd tell us to jump we'd ask off of what cliff?

Many times as I trained did I think I was going to die but she never let any of us fail. Once you had been chosen by The Queen Of Spades even death could not claim you.

But that didn't mean we had never come close.

Part of the training meant climbing up trees with no branches and no equipment. She tie weights to us and drop us in lakes giving us thirty minutes to get out or else we'd have to repeat. She'd temporarily blind us with poisonous plants and drop us in the middle of the Weathering Woods, forcing us to find our way home or die there.

She was relentless. But right.

At the end of the training, everyone was stronger. And everyone made it. She always chose the weakest of pathetic women and turned their lives around making them powerful women who she fought side by side with. She'd tell us.

'There's something about being at the absolute worst in your life that inspires you to want to become better. That thirst for victory is what I see and what I crave.'

To everyone else she was a mentor but to me, she was like a second mother. When everyone was resting at night Adaora was forcing me to run laps around the castle. When we'd duel she'd force me to go against her just so she could pummel me into the ground, over and over again. Waiting for me to fight back.

And one day I did. And there's not a day that has passed where I haven't regretted that.

I was the only person in history that had come close to beating her.

And she nearly killed me for it.

"So...fierce lesbians?" I choked on my saliva before letting out a loud laugh that echoed through the alleyway.

"I'm not going to answer that" I chuckled. "But she's up at north, so they won't be a problem".

"Why not?" He asked.

"Well, the Datura are like bee's" I snickered "And what happens to bee's when you take away their queen?" I glanced at Caspian with an evil glint in my eye.

"They don't know what to do?" I nodded.

"And so the hive falls apart".

Cas and I watched from the top of a building as all the police trucks lined up to be led into the castle. As protocol, it was taking a long time. Adaoras security system was the most advanced in the three kingdoms I'd been too, and she worked pretty damn hard to keep it that way.

"So how do we do this?" Caspian asked as we both analyzed the situation.

"There are no entrances other than the front gate, so we'll have to hitch a ride" I pointed at a large truck in the middle "They'll be keeping Irina in there so we'll have to pick one that'll be following her" I pointed at the last truck, "That one is empty and usually filled with the weakest people so we'll jump them".

I clapped my hands together and looked at him.

"Do you crumble under pressure?" He shook his head. "Good because I'm trusting you to go and knock the guys in the front seat out and steal their identities, you don't have that much time to change and get into character so you have to be quick understand?" He nodded slowly, processing what I told him.

"And what will you be doing?"

"I'll go into the back" I explained "The trunks usually hold prisoners so I'll be taken straight to the dungeons whilst you keep up your persona, I know a way out of the dungeons so I'll bust me and Irina out".

"So basically you're going to have all the fun" He pouted.

"Actually, after you park the car with the others you'll have to make your way through the castle and meet us outside on the other side, where we'll be waiting for you" He still looked sceptical.

"And if we have any casualties?" I looked back at the fortress of a domain and bit my lip.

"Let's just pray we don't."
