Chapter Eight

A few weeks later Alex asks Mel to move into his apartment with him and she is so excited. When she tells Kevin, he is a little sad that she won't be living with him anymore but happy for her. Living with Alex is really good and he always wants her near to him. He spoke to their manager Dave about Mel always being where they are and Dave agreed. So now Mel goes to rehearsals with them and anywhere else and sits with manager Dave. Then at night she gets to spend her time alone with Alex.

One day while they are in the dance studio one of the female dancers hurts her foot. It's not too bad but bad enough that she can't continue. They are talking to their manager and choreographer and wondering what they are going to do. They can't really find another girl to take her place because they would have to teach the new girl the dance routine from fresh. As they are rehearsing for a concert in a few months, even though they have the time to teach another girl, it would take time to find the right girl and that was too much hassle.

Then all of a sudden Kevin looks at Mel with a look on his face. Mel has an idea what he is going to say and she is shaking her head slowly at him. He ignores her and says loudly "Mel can you take over from her? She can't continue because of her foot and you are here every day and know the dance." Everyone turns around and looks at Mel in surprise, including Alex. Mel says "I don't know Kevin, I haven't danced for a long time." Kevin walks towards Mel and grabs her hand pulling her out of her chair. He says "Come on I know you can do it, it will be so easy for you" and he pulls her over to the others. They are all staring at Mel and Alex asks "You can dance?" Mel nods as she says "But I haven't danced for about a year since Kevin left though." Kevin quickly says "Yes she can dance and she is amazing" he then looks at Mel surprised and says "You didn't tell him?" Mel shrugs and says "There was no reason that came up for me to mention it to him. It's not something you just come out and say for no reason." Kevin nods then says "Please, do it for me" and gives her his cute pleading look, the puppy dog eyes that he always uses on her to get his own way. Mel sighs as she is a sucker for puppy dog eyes, especially Kevin's and says "Fine" making Kevin clap his hands. The choreographer says "Okay let's take it from the top with Mel standing in for Zara" and Mel stands in position with the others as the music plays.

After the song has finished, Kevin says "See I knew you could do it." Mel smiles at him as she drinks some water and Alex walks over to her and says "Wow you are really good, where did you learn to dance like that?" Mel puts her arm around Kevin's shoulders and says "This was my dance teacher. He made me work very hard at it every day and was very strict." Kevin laughs at this last part and says "Oh come on, I wasn't that strict." The choreographer then calls them and wants them to do the dance again. Then after that when the guys are resting, he gets Mel to do a few more of their dances just to see what she can do. The guys are watching Mel and in between dances she see Alex with a sexy look in his eyes as he watches her.

Mel has officially become one of the group's dancers as the choreographer is very pleased at how well she can dance. They all go out to celebrate that night with a few drinks and some karaoke. They go to a karaoke place where they have private rooms and book a room. Mel sits and listens to them singing different songs but she refuses to sing this time as she feels shy. She tells them that maybe next time they go there she will sing. They stay out very late and Alex is always somewhere close to her.
