It has now been about 3 months since Mel first danced for the group. She has really enjoyed doing this. Then one day Mel and Alex get into a big fight, which is not normal for them. Mel tells him that she loves him very much but he has hurt her with the things he has said and she needs some space and time to sort her head out. Alex snaps at her "Fine, why don't you just go then. Take your things with you while you're at it." So she packs her bag and as she walks towards the door crying, she turns to look over by the window at Alex one last time. He is stood there with his back to her. He then just walks away without looking at her and goes into the bedroom closing the door behind him. Mel walks out of the door and walks away from the apartment before she calls Kevin. He can hear her crying and he panics and asks what's wrong. Mel explains what happened and then says "I need somewhere to stay while I sort my head out." Kevin says "Come here and stay with me, you are always welcome here, you know that." Mel tells him "I know but I need somewhere that Alex isn't going to be so can't be your house as he is always going there." Kevin asks "Where are you? I am coming to get you." Mel tells him where she is and Kevin says "Okay I am getting in the car now." When he gets there he puts her bag in the car and after they are both in the car he leans over and hugs her while she cries on his shoulder. After a few minutes he says "I phoned mum on the way here and she says you can stay with her as long as you want. She says you are same as her daughter and her home is your home." This makes Mel smile, his mum is so sweet.
When they had got to Kevin's mums home she had given Mel a hug as Kevin had already told her what had happened and she had shown Mel to the room she would be staying in. She really is a lovely person. Mel is now looking out of the window in her new room at the night sky. The whole fight and what Alex said to her keeps replaying over and over in her mind. The tears freely fall down her face. How could he say those things to her? How could he tell her to just go and take her bag with her? She already misses him but they both said bad things to each other. As Mel falls asleep that night she sees the image of Alex stood by the window with his back to her. She dreams of Alex that night and in the morning she wakes up hoping the whole fight was all just a bad dream and Alex would be there next to her watching her sleep. But of course when she opens her eyes, he is not there.
Two weeks later Mel has had a lot of time to think and cry and think again and she realises that she made the biggest mistake of her life walking out of there. She should never have told him she needed space. She should have stayed there and worked through this together with him. But she is as stubborn as he is. Mel has been in constant contact with Kevin over the last two weeks and he comes to see her and keeps her informed on how Alex is. He has told the manager and the choreographer why Mel can't dance with them for a while and manager Dave has even phoned her once or twice to see how she is.
Kevin has been trying to get her to go back to Alex. He says that Alex has not been the same since Mel left and that he really misses her. Mel says "Really? He told you he misses me?" Kevin shakes his head and says "No, he doesn't say anything but I can tell by the way he is." This results in Kevin holding her while she cries on his shoulder. But as was said before, Mel is stubborn and even though she misses Alex so much, that stubborness in her won't let her go back yet.
Then one evening Mel is listening to the radio and she hears a familiar song. She hears the voices of Alex and the others. She listens to the song with tears streaming down her face. Even though she has heard it many times before, this time tonight, the words of the song seem to be about her. Even though she knows that is not true. The tears continue to fall as she listens to Alex's voice and makes her miss him even more. As she listens she has a sudden need to see Alex. She doesn't care anymore about anything else, about the fight, about who was right or wrong or anything. All that matters is being with Alex now. She has been stupid enough to leave the one man she has ever truly loved this much and she doesn't want to lose him completely because she couldn't handle losing him.
That night she gets her usual call from Kevin and while they are talking he happens to mention that he is stuck rehearsing all day tomorrow. Mel doesn't tell Kevin anything but right then she decides that tomorrow will be the day she will try to get Alex back. Even if she has to get down on her hands and knees and beg him in front of the others. She would do that because she doesn't want to lose him and hates being away from him. She can't wait to see him again. This is going to be a total surprise for him.
Little did she know that it would be her who would have the surprise.
The next morning Mel gets up and has a quick breakfast then showers and gets dressed. She puts on her favourite blue jeans that Alex loves seeing her in, a black t-shirt with a red heart on the front and her black and white sport shoes. She puts her hair up in a pony tail today to keep it out of her way then puts simple make up on. She then puts on her favourite black jacket that Alex bought for her about two months ago and quickly packs her bag so it is ready just incase, then leaves the room. She then heads downstairs and tells Kevin's mum that she is going out. She tells Mel "You look nice, where are you going?" Mel tells her "I am going to the dance studio. I want to try and get Alex back, I realise that I don't want to lose him, I can't lose him mum." She nods with a slight smile on her face and Mel then says "Oh, if Kevin calls don't tell him anything." She nods again and Mel takes a quick look in the mirror then grabs her handbag and heads out the door. She then takes a taxi to the dance studio.
