It was Saturday night Kaleen hadn’t saw Sandman since his proposal of them running away together, maybe she’d upset him. She was working that night unaware of what was about to happen. Adriana and Candice were both at home that night. A knock to the door echoed through the house. Sandman had chosen tonight as his perfect opportunity to confront Adriana about his proposal to Kaleen.
Adriana opened the door Sandman stood there smiling, unaware that Adriana wasn’t the only one at home that night.
‘Oh it’s you.’ She said disappointedly. Enthusiastically as ever. ‘What do you want?’ She snapped, looking at him in his baggy Metallica tee-shirt, baggy jeans, and docs.
‘Can I come in? I’d like to talk to you.’ He said politely, still smiling.
‘Sorry no.’ She snapped.
His smile faded.
‘I’ve got to go to work.’
‘It won’t take long.’
‘Well say it then!’
‘I-I-I’ he stuttered. Rubbing the back of his neck.
‘Hurry up! I aint got all day. I’ll be late for my shift.’ She snapped. Staring at him through her narrow glasses with a silver rim, which never really suited her.
‘I’ll just get straight to the point then. Well me, well me and Kaleen have decided to move in together and well I’d just thought I’d let you know.’ He said eyes poised in one position in the middle of his pupils, looking straight ahead looking into her eyes never moving his.
‘I don’t think so young man. She’s got college then maybe UNI. I aint having anyone ruining that for her, especially you.’
‘But we love each other.’
‘Love, you kids don’t know what love means you wouldn’t know what love was if it hit you in the face!’ She snapped. ‘Now if you don’t mind.’
‘Sorry for taking up your time. I just thought you’d like to know if we move in together we won’t be sticking round we’ll be off moving away from this dump we’ll be going far, far away.’ He said walking away.
‘You’ll never take her never!’ Adriana screamed. ‘I won’t let you, your scum, pity she can’t see it when everyone else round here can. She’ll never move in with you, I’ll make sure of it!’
Sandman’s eyes narrowed, blank, burning with rage, he turned suddenly. He walked towards her. Grabbing her lifting her. ‘I don’t give a shit what you think of me I don’t give a shit it you don’t like me, Kaleen does and that’s all that matters bitch.’
Adriana looked at him fearless. ‘She’ll find out what you’re really like and I’ll make sure she does.’
‘I don’t think so, not in this life time.’ He said as he slung her across the hall.
She crashed at the bottom of the stairs with an enormous thud, cracking her scull open, blood poured from the wound and seeped from her mouth. He stood there looking at the lifeless body watching making sure she was dead. He looked up consciously feeling someone was there watching him.
Candice stood at the top of the stairs mouth trembling he face ghostly looking standing there shocked.
They stared at one another not saying one word. Sandman placed his finger on his lips. ‘Shh.’ He took his finger away from his lips gently gliding it across his throat as if to say. ‘Say anything and you’re dead!’
He turned, walking away smiling heading off down the street for the town centre.
