Kaleen slammed the door behind her still vexed, the house shock with her anger. She stormed upstairs sat down on her bed breathing heavily trying to calm herself if she hadn’t’ve been so tired she’d have gave him what for, told him exactly what she thought of him and the job, and told him to shove it where the sun don’t shine and that she’d quit she’d had enough of the stupid job and him snapping at her every chance he’d got.

She didn’t even hear the door of her room open just felt her bed rise and sink. She turned. ‘Sandman.’

‘Sorry didn’t mean to intrude.’

‘Yeah-right!’ Kaleen replied. ‘Your words are always so predictable.’

‘Are you alright?’

‘Yeah fine, just got fired that’s all.’

‘Sorry.’ He said smiling.

‘You should be it’s your fault!’ She snapped angrily.

His smile faded. ‘Why’s it my fault?’

‘If it weren’t for you coming in here at three in the morning I might have slept till day break!’ she snapped.

‘Sorry, I just wanted to spend some time with you.’

‘You can do that anytime. Why three in the morning?!’

‘Cause no one can interrupt us.’ He answered sitting next to Kaleen, almost on top of her.

He gently moved her long blackish red hair off her shoulders moved forward, kissing her neck. ‘Maybe now we can get away like we planned.’ He said kissing her neck after every word spoke.

A shudder shot down Kaleen’s back, she froze. ‘What will he do next?’

‘I-I-I.’

A knock came to the door.

Sandman jumped out of his skin shooting back into the corner.

‘Phew’ Kaleen thought.

A head of blondish brown hair popped round the door. ‘Can I come in?’

‘Candice.’ Kaleen said with a sigh of relief at least with Candice in the room with them he wouldn’t try anything.

‘Yeah sure come in.’

‘Thanks.’

‘I thought I told you not to knock and just to come in.’ Kaleen said, eyes scared fear within them you could almost see it within them.

‘I didn’t want to interrupt.’ Candice said seeing Sandman sitting in the corner. ‘Sorry I didn’t mean too. I just heard you come in are you okay?’

‘Yeah apart from that git Mav fired me.’ Kaleen answered her eyes motionless.

‘What for?’

‘For falling asleep.’ She replied her eyes fixed on Candice. Unchanging throughout the rest of their conversation.

‘I told you not to go in, you were too tired to work this morning.’

‘I know, but if he hadn’t’ve fired me I would’ve quit, telling him exactly what I thought of him.’ She answered, forgetting al about Sandman being there.

Candice’s eyes enthused on Sandman, who’d bowed his head, griped his hands tightly together his arms lay transversely on his legs. It was like he wanted to speak out and tell Candice that he and Kaleen were in the middle of something.

Candice lookedhastily at Kaleen. ‘Well I’d better go and leave you two alone.’

Kaleen looked at her through her scared eyes which were screaming out. ‘Please don’t go, please don’t leave m with him.’

She didn’t pick up on Kaleen’s cries, Candice turned walking away. Sandman’s head lifted he glared, smiled. She tried to force a smile a smirk slipped out of her poised lips and back again. As she walked passed him and out of the room.

He pulled himself up, pushed the door shut, locking it. He lounged on to the bed towards Kaleen who was hunched up in the corner with her back against the wall terrified, her eye filling with tears.

He smiled. ‘Don’t be afraid. I won’t hurt you.’ He said moved closer.

‘Yeah- right you won’t hurt me, what a joke! You could kill me if you wanted too!’

He’d got really close, Kaleen felt her body tremble. He prized her legs open slipping himself between them. ‘Why didn’t you say you hated that job? Then we could’ve got out of here sooner.’

‘I-I-I.’

‘No worries we’ll still do it.’ He said leaning forward. ‘Now where were we? About here I think.’

He leaned forward placing his lip on hers kissing her, her lips trembled.

‘Don’t be afraid. I’ll never hurt you, never!’ He whispered.

She froze.

He continued to kiss her, she returned his kiss reluctantly, tears in her eyes he slipped his tongue in her mouth.

‘Why me?Why me?’

He rapped her legs round his waist with nowhere to go his face next to hers his lips on hers his grip tight unable to move felling though he was suffocating her. He moved away not saying a word as she breathed heavily. He kissed her neck, felling sick, tears rolled down her face. He plunged on her neck, a painful expression spread across her face.

He moved away. ‘Just relax you’re making me nervous.’

‘He doesn’t look nervous, had he done this before?’

He leaned forward kissing her once more.

Kaleen woke in a daze wondering why she’d let him take advantage of her like that. She knew exactly why, but was too afraid to admit it too ashamed that she knew she’d only done it because she was to scared if she refused he’d kill her too.

After their moment of passion he told her he loved her, he pulled away getting up off the bed, he went over to the bedroom door and unlocked it, he opened it, turned. ‘We’ll get out of here. Tomorrow, somewhere no one else will find us. Where no-one knows us.’ He turned back, walked out of the room.

Kaleen waited till he’d disappeared up into the attic the door of the attic slammed behind him, grabbing a pillow tightly to her chest she burst into tears, felling sick inside after letting him get what he’d wanted all along, she lay down, crying herself to sleep.

It was late afternoon. Kaleen walked into the house shutting the door behind her. The house was quiet she walked cautiously into the lounge she stood in silence, thinking of ways to get rid of Sandman to get him out of her life forever and to get him away from Candice before he tried to kill her too.

The door closed Kaleen shot round. ‘Shit Candice you scared me.’

‘Are you alright? Only you seemed a bit on edge last night.’

‘Yeah fine.’ Kaleen answered pacing across the lounge frantically.

‘Kaleen!’ Candice snapped.

Kaleen stood still she’d never heard that sort of tone from Candice before, she froze.

‘What’s going on?’ She asked her voice softening.

‘Is he here?’

‘No, he went out ages ago.’

‘Good.’ Kaleen said taking a deep breath. ‘You better sit down.’

‘Okay.’ Candice said. ‘Shit what’s coming next? Does she know about me seeing Sandman kill mom? Does she know sandman killed mom?

They both sat on the sofa, Kaleen placed her hands on top of Candice’s, gripping them tightly.

‘What’s going on Kay?’

‘There’s no easy way to say this Candice, but you see ur-ur.’ She started. ‘How can I tell her, how am I supposed to tell her that my boyfriends killed her mom now he’s living under the same roof? I’m goanna have to give it to her straight.’ ‘You see, well Sandman he killed Adriana, now he’s trying to frame me for it.’ She explained. ‘See that wasn’t so hard.’She thought, taking a deep breath, waiting for Candice’s reaction, which didn’t surprise her.

‘What!’ Candice replied trying to act surprised. ‘How?’

‘He’s got a sheet of my diary confirming how much I hated Adriana and how I wished she were dead. He said he’d use it against me if I told the police.’

‘What an invasion of privacy. What a creep!’ Candice said trying to take it all in, trying to hold back her tears.

‘He’s took fifteen grand off me, he promised me he’d leave and never come back, but he won’t go without me. What am I goanna do?’

‘We’ve got to get it back.’

‘How? I’ve tried it’s impossible he never takes his jacket off, it’s in his inside pocket he never leaves the house without it.’

‘I’ve notice he’s got a little sloppy lately, he leaves it on the chair when he goes out. All we have to do is wait till he’s out.’

‘Yeah then we’ll grab it and destroy it.’

‘Before we do this I’ve got a confession too.’ Candice said, bowing her head.

‘Yeah what is it?’

‘Promise you won’t be mad at me.’

‘Promise’

Candice lifted her head. ‘I-I-I’

‘Spit it out.’

‘I knew Sandman killed mom before you told me.’

‘How?’

‘That night, the night it happened when I said I heard raised voices, well I was in my room all I heard was mom screaming out at someone so I came out of my room. I saw mom lying at the bottom of the stairs.’

‘I’m sorry.’ Kaleen said placing her arm round Candice.

‘I saw him just standing there I don’t think he expected anyone else to be in, he looked up at me he placed his finger on his lips saying ‘Shh.’ Then he glided his finger across his neck turned and walked away.’

‘So it was all an act, the bike, everything.’

She nodded. ‘I only went on his bike to make him think he hadn’t got to me but he had he told me not to tell anyone even you.’

‘So why let him stay?’

‘He said if I didn’t he’d tell the police I helped him kill mom.’ Candice replied, sobbing.

‘Don’t worry we’ll get him, we’ll get him good.’ Kaleen said. ‘How could he? He makes me sick it was bad enough him dragging me into it, but Candice too what a freak!’ ‘Everything’s goanna be alright, you’ll see we’ll have Sandman out of our lives forever! Hopefully behind bars, where he can’t touch us.’

Candice looked up. ‘Promise you won’t say anything.’

Kaleen dropped her arms from round Candice. ‘Promise.’

They shock on it in there special way ending in there little fingers crossing a pact to each other that a promise could never be broken.
