Kaleen had returned home from going out with Karen and Heather, she walked into the lounge no-one was there all was quiet eerie. Candice walked in from the kitchen.

Shit you scared me! I thought you were someone else.’ She said jumping out of her skin.

‘No. Where is he anyway?’

‘He went out I aint saw him since I thought it was him coming back. He left his coat here though, stupid git.’

‘Good, you look though the pockets and I’ll phone the police.’

‘We’re finally goanna get rid of him aint we sis?’

‘Yes we are.’

They smiled.

Candice started to look through Sandman’s Jacket whilst Kaleen dialled the number that the DCI gave her. She ripped it into tiny pieces throwing it in the bin, whilst searching through the left hand side of the jacket. ‘It’s not here.’ She said placing the mobile to her ear. ‘Hurry up!’

‘It aint here either.’

‘Hi you two what are you up to?’

Kaleen jumped dropping her mobile as the DCI picked up. ‘DCI Maverick, how can I help, hello, hello.’

Candice and Kaleen turned, sandman stood in the doorway.

‘Sandman.’

‘Looking for this?!’ He said waving sheet of Kaleen’s diary in the air.

‘Give it to me.’ Kaleen snapped.

‘Come and get it.’

Candice leaped across the room his arm emerged from behind his back a baseball bat gripped in his hand swung round cracking Candice across her head, knocking her out cold as she fell to the floor. Shaking the room.

Kaleen stood, shocked, he dropped the baseball bat looking at her with his Florissant blue eyes angered full of rage. Evil, blank. ‘Come on, we’re going let’s get out of here. Me and you!’

‘NO!’ She shouted echoing across the room. ‘You killed Adriana.’

‘I did it for you. You said you hated her, and you wished she were dead. I did it all for you.’

‘Don’t come that shit with me just ‘cause I said it daint mean I wanted her dead! She may have been a right cow but I wouldn’t have wished that on my worst enemy.’

‘At least she wasn’t like my parents, at least she had a little bit of a heart, at least she cared, not like my parents they blamed me for everything, even my brother going A.W.O.L. He hated them as much as me, he hated the way they treated me different to him, we were twins you know I aint saw him since the fire.’

‘I thought you said you hadn’t got any brothers or sisters.’

‘I lied.’

‘So he was there too?’

‘Yeah, he wanted to teach them a lesson too he poured the petrol I light the match and dropped it, and kaboom! All up in flames we fled, but my brother lost his marbles guess the experience was all too much for him. He ended up in a nutter home.’

‘Why did you never talk about him?’ She asked wondering if it was fact or fiction he’d told her that many lies she wasn’t sure of the truth anymore.

‘Cause he wouldn’t want me to, too painful all those memories to come flooding back he don’t need to be reminded.’

‘Is he still there now?’

‘Nagh, he got out four months ago declared sain you may have met him he works at the club, you see he looks nothing like me he’s tall with dark hair and dark eyes, pierced nose, pierced eyebrow, his hair dread locked a tattoo on his arm saying ‘EAT THIS’ he was wearing a V-neck mussel vest baggy trousers, and a belt with a chain on it.’

‘Oh him I didn’t know he’s your brother.’

‘Not many people do aint told a lot of people can’t trusty ‘em these days.’

‘Didn’t quiet catch his name, Matt, Melvin or something.’

‘Mackenzie. .’

‘That’s him my friends thought he was cute.’

‘If you think I’m a nutter, you aint seen nothing yet. Sandman said. ‘Well enough said about my brother what about us? Let’s get out of here’

‘After tonight no way.’

‘Come on, I’ve got somewhere for us to stay sorted where do you think I’ve been all day. ‘He said getting closer.

‘I don’t know.’

‘Come on we’re going somewhere you’ll like by the beech, then we’ll go somewhere hot just you and me putting all of this behind us.’

‘I don’t know Sandman what about everything, won’t the police be looking for you?’

‘Good point I’ll have to get a disguise.’ he replied. ‘Come on.’ He said excitedly.

‘What about the paper are you goanna get rid of that too?’

‘I’ll keep it just in case you have any ideas to run.’

‘Do you think they’ll really believe you?’

‘Course they will why won’t they?’

‘After all you did kill your mom and dad.’ She replied looking at the floor.

‘They deserved it after what they done to me.’

‘They aint goanna see it that way are they?’ She said, her eyes shifting from him to the floor.

Unaware Sandman had spotted her. ‘What are you looking at?’

‘Nothing.’ She said looking at him and back at the phone.

He looked at the floor focusing on her mobile. ‘YOU BITCH!’

He lifted his leg,

‘NO!’

Bringing his foot down treading on her phone twisting his foot into it crushing it into tiny pieces. He looked at Kaleen with a cold eerie evil glare. ‘You bitch you called the police, I trusted you.’ He grabbed her by her arm tightly before she had a chance to speak. He dragged her out of the door.

‘What are you goanna do to me?’ She asked tears rolling down her face, her eyes full of fear.

‘I’m, goanna take you somewhere no one will ever find you.’ He snapped, pushing her out of the door.

‘Please Sandman. I’ll go anywhere with you, please.’ She begged in desperation, her voice filling with a tearful sound. Tears rolled down her face.

‘Too late for that.’ He said. ‘Too late.’ He repeated as he pulled her up onto the bike, he leaped on behind her and rode off.
