Chapter 16

Scarlet's POV~~

I was all spruced up and on my way to school. The entire drive to the school was crammed with me grinning from ear to ear. Lucas was cheeky, I admit but that was his charm that got me hooked in the first place. I quieted my engine when I parked in the lot and lunged out of the car. “Hey...” I looked behind me and Lucas leaned in front of his car in all his glory. His deep blue eyes peering into mine.

“I was waiting for you” he said in a husky voice still looking at me with those blue eyes. “I missed you” he whispered when I didn't answer, looking at me with flirty eyes.

I blinked “Umm...well I'm here so let's go” I sputtered and started walking ahead of him, stimulating my movements with each stride I took.

“Do I make you nervous?” He said, showing up beside me.

I gwaked “What! No! No way!” I exclaimed suddenly getting defensive.

“What is it then?you like me?” He asked with an impish smirk while blocking my way.

“No way!”

“ Why didn't you answer the video call this morning he whispered.

I became mute, thinking of a reply.

“I didn't feel like it” I declared turning my face away from him.

“Hey, you are always pretty” he whispered gently as he raised my chin slightly to his face with his hand, making butterflies start doing what they do in my stomach. We kept ogling each other and suddenly he leaned in. I closed my eyes and waited for the moment which never came.

“Why are your eyes closed?” I heard his voice and I opened my eyes and God!! The embarrassment I felt was limitless. He was looking at me with feigned seriousness, struggling to suppress his laughter.

“Umm...nothing!” I said shaking my head vigorously and rushed away. I heard him laughing behind me. I couldn't help but notice it was the most beautiful thing that I have ever heard. I mentally slapped myself at the thought.

“This is soo humiliating!!” I grumbled.

Out of nowhere, I was whipped around by my arm and I felt something warm pressed to my lips. I gaped.

Lucas was kissing me!!. It felt like I was in a whole different world. Too bad it didn't last longer than I wanted. He ended the kiss just as abruptly as he kissed me.

“I gotta go, see you later” he said and went away without waiting another second as I stood there still in a daze.

Throughout the entire lesson, I wasn't paying any attention, my hands kept lingering around my lips as I kept replaying the kiss in my head. I had completely forgotten where I was as I wondered in my own wonderland.

“Hey, aren't you gonna have lunch?” Selena tapped me from behind. I looked at her startled. “Oh, its time already?” The second she saw my face upfront, she started grinning at me. “ Damn girl, you are glowing, anything I should know about?” She said, her face suddenly getting serious, she can be so dramatic!. “Well, its nothing much” I said reluctantly, I know Selena and how she could take things to far. “I still want to know!” She exclaimed, feigning seriousness.

“Fine but promise you won't make a huge scene out of it” I said while snatching my backpack from the floor beside my desk.

We made our way out of the class in the direction of the cafeteria. Selena kept making weired sounds on purpose as if prompting me that I have something to tell her.

I rolled my eyes at her silliness. “Okay, so... Lucas and I kinda...”

My phone pinged just at that time and Selena slapped her forehead. “Who is tryna get in my way? Please finish what you were about to say before you answer to it, please... please... please...she kept pleading. I shook my head at her exaggeration and pulled my phone from my bag. It was a text message... I opened it and gawked in shock.

Selena saw my reaction and strained her head to my phone.

“You and Lucas kissed??” Selena screeched in shock, forgetting the bigger problem at hand.

“Hey,” Lucas said coming out of nowhere.

Selena and I both cried out, startled.

“Are you guys okay, you seem a bit off”

“U...umm y...yeah everything's fine, what are you doing here?” I stuttered still in a daze. “I came to pick you up, I wanted to show you something he said getting flustered himself. “Are you sure you are okay” he said and peeked at the phone which was still in my hands.

“Yeah, we are good, and I'm sorry, but you would have to cancel your date or whatever is it, we had something else planned, Selena stepped in when she noticed my nervousness. I was starting to feel dizzy standing there. This was getting serious, someone was following me and watching my every move. I mean I was frightened from the beginning this started happening, but I assumed the person would grow out of it and stop, but I'm not so sure anymore.

Before we knew it, I had dropped the phone to the ground mistakenly and before Selena or I could pick it up, Lucas beat us to it. He looked at it for a while and his expression changed, obviously he saw the message. He looked at me, confusion written all over his face, is this with me, or you kissed someone else?” He said jealousy growing on his face.

I grimaced “Who do you take me for?” A slut? I said getting angry all of a sudden.

“ I don't think this is the right time for you guys to be discussing this, I mean someone was obviously spying on you and the rest of us...” Selena exclaimed but stopped when she noticed what she was about to let out. Lucas glanced at her briefly before turning back to me.

“Do you have any basis for this? I mean, you were the only person to receive the message and I didn't, so obviously you were the target” Lucas said while staring intently at me. I looked at Selena for any sign of suggestion or approval.

“ Lucas I think there is something you should know” I said slowly.

Selena looked at me as if asking me something, I looked away avoiding her gaze.

“Can I talk to you?” Selena said, yanking me away without even hearing whether I wanted to talk or not. I followed her obediently without resisting since it was not gonna be of use anyway.

“You are seriously not gonna tell him about the whole Heather thing, are you??” She said when we were out of Lucas's hearing.

“The fact that I like him doesn't make me dump around him” I stated weakly.

“Oh okay that makes sense” she said calming herself.

I peeked at Lucas from where he stood and his focus was still on us.

“What are you gonna tell him then?”

“Don't worry, I promise I will know my limitations” I said assuring her.

“So can I go now?” I asked.

She nodded. “Good luck” she added. I gave her a weak smile and made my way to where Lucas was.

“Let's go” I said to him, and he followed right behind me with concern engraved all over his face.

“So are you gonna tell me??” Lucas asked while staring at me.

I nodded. “I am being stalked by some kinda stalker for the past few weeks” I said, looking at him for a reaction.

He ceased his brows together making his forehead wrinkle. “A stalker...?” He asked with some kinda tone I couldn't quite figure. I nodded yet again. “And you have no idea who or why?”

I shook my head slowly in response to what he was asking. I felt bad for lying to him, but I couldn't let him know about my unpleasant past.

He stared at me with an assuring look. “Don't worry I'm here for you and we are going to figure it out together” he held my chicks in his palms and drew his face closer to mine, it felt soo warm.

The bell rang for the next lesson and off to class we went. As we were getting up, I noticed someone's eyes fixed on us and this time I saw a face. She looked away when she noticed me staring at her. I twisted my head and raised my eyebrows “hm” I shrugged and walked away to catch up with Lucas.
