Chapter 17

Scarlet's POV~~~

We were in the middle of the history class when suddenly the door flunged opened and the assistant principal entered the class with someone right behind him. The boys in the class started making snickers here and there while some whistled.

“Enough of your hippy yahoos,” the assistant principal said. Looked like we got ourselves a newbie. She looked kinda flashy like the cheerleader type of girl. “Wait, I know this girl!” I thought to myself while looking more intently at her. That's right!, she was the one I noticed staring at me when I was with Lucas a few minutes ago. No wonder she looked familiar. The principal whispered something to the history teacher and walked away leaving the new girl behind.

“Our new student, make sure to be nice to her.” Mrs Powell, the history teacher turned to face the new girl. “I'm sure you are past class curtain-raisers now,” she said denoting an empty seat for her to sit, which was right behind me.

“I wouldn't mind introducing myself,” she said unexpectedly and sweetly.

“Go ahead then,” the teacher said, looking surprised that someone actually wants to take that impediment.

“Hi, my name is Ann Peterson. My family and I moved here a week ago from Florida. Well, the reason being that my dad had a bigger promotion and was assigned to the company's branch which is here and...”. She went on and on about her family and how perfect her life was. Well, she seemed like the cheerful type, and she's pretty, I will give her that.

Everyone was looking at her as if she had grown a second head. “Hi...” she said cheerfully while taking her seat behind me when she finally finished her lengthy introduction. “Hey” I replied with a smile and arched my brows as I turned my head to face the teacher.

Halfway through the class, I felt a tap behind my back and I twisted my head to the back.

“Do you have an extra pen I could use? Mine just run out of ink.” Ann asked.

I nodded reluctantly because it felt like I had an extra pen, but I wasn't so sure about it till I confirmed. I grabbed my backpack from the ground beside my desk and rambled through it. For some reason finding an extra pen in my backpack gave me some sort of relief.

“Here”

“Thank you, I owe you one” she smiled and took the pen. The class went on like any other normal day. The bell rang signalling the close of school and everyone bolted out including me. I made my way straight to the parking lot, I was not in the mood for anything, I just wanted to go home, have a refreshing bath and catch some sleep, but I guess that wasn't possible seeing the new girl waving at me from afar while walking in my direction.

“Oh boy” I sighed discreetly while putting on a fake smile and forcing myself to wave back. “Hi, again" she said while smiling cheerfully. I seriously wonder how good her life must be, either she's a good actress or she's actually this cheerful all the damn time.

“Thanks for the pen again, if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't know what I would have done.” Her words brought my attention back to her.” It was nothing, it's not like I was gonna use it or something" I said, getting a bit relaxed.

“I will treat you to something delicious sometime, only if you are okay with it of course”

I shook my head “no you don't have to”

“But I want to,” she replied almost instantly, giving me cute facial expressions. I laughed “fine, you win” I was kinda taking a liking to her.

Before anyone could talk again, I noticed her looking behind me and I turned and saw Lucas standing behind me making funny faces. “Hey babe”, he said and kissed me on my lip. I gasped with my eye wide open. Yeah, we kissed, but I didn't know the relationship had become official.

“Okay, so I'm gonna go and give you two lovebirds some space,” Ann said mischievously while referring to a car two cars away from where we stood, which I believed was hers.

“Sure, see you...” before I could even end my sentence, Lucas pulled me closer to him and pressed his lips against mine. I shut my eyes and enjoyed the moment.

Selena's POV~~~

Most students hate Monday mornings, but I'm not most students, at least Monday mornings one feels refreshed from resting during the weekends, but Tuesdays are just horrible seeing as the stress from Monday is still within the system. “Ugh!!” I grumbled and flipped my blanket off me. “Hey honey, you have got a mailman at the door with a box” my dad yelled from downstairs.

I ceased my brows together creating a wrinkle on my forehead. I scanned my phone for any history of online shopping I might have done but there was none. I scrambled downstairs still trying to guess who would bring a gift to me. I opened the door and there was the mailman, with a blue baseball cap on his head, enclosing most of his face and a brown sealed box in his hands. With a disturbed look on my face, I took the box from the man and whispered thanks. Just as I was about shutting the door, I remembered I had not signed as evidence for the receiver's mail confirmation. I opened the door, and he was gone.” that was fast” I muttered.

With so much curiousness, I unwrapped the sealed box with all my strength, without even having to look for a knife or cutter, I opened it and seeing the content of the box, I gasped and staggered backwards making the box fly to the ground. My whole body shook with fear as I stared at the flower in the box, whoever sent them knew I had allergies to daisies.

“Lena is everything okay?” I could hear my mom's voice getting closer to me. I quickly picked the box from the ground and closed it shut. “Y...yeah, everything is fine, just got a little carried out with the present I received” I smiled nervously trying very hard to hide my anxiety. My mom looked reluctant. “ I thought I heard you scream”

“Don't worry about it mom, I'm fine...you know high school and drama, just a little prank from my friends,” I said while walking back into my room as fast as I could.

“Mom...” I turned my head to look at her, “can I skip school today? Please... I don't feel too good” I begged, looking at her with a puppy face. It usually works on her, so I had my hope's high.

She looked at me for a while.... “sure, but just for today” I gave her a weak laugh. “Thanks mom,” I said and returned to my room with the closed box. What a crappy way to avoid school. I thought to myself. I had a feeling mom suspected something was up with me but decided to let it go. I went up to my room and showered. I wrapped a towel around my body when I finished and suddenly, my nose became itchy. I tried to calm myself because I had a fair idea of what was happening to me. The last time I came into contact with daisies, I became itchy and some few minutes later, spots started appearing on my body which lasted for two days. I sighed and came out if the bathroom with the towel still wrapped around me. I picked up my phone and dialed Scarlet's number.
