SILLY HANA

Hana went home immediately after work. She clutched on to her bag while she kept a handkerchief to cover the lower half of her face

Worried about their daughter, Rudolf and Alice waited for her in front of their house, both were pacing back and forth.

"What could have taken her so long? She isn't answering my call either." Alice told her husband while she kept dialing Hana's number.

On her fifth attempt to call her, she saw a familiar figure walking towards them.

"Mama, Papa, I'm home. Did I worry you?" Hana cheerfully greeted them as she led them back to their house.

"We were worried a little bit. Your brother was making a fuss about your work so we had no choice but to be careful as much as possible." Rudolf told his daughter the truth.

"Sigh. I was just enjoying myself. Sorry if I worried you. Bro is just worrywart as ever." Hana spoke while removing her coat and shoes.

"Can you blame him? You're his only sister. He didn't want you to suffer even the slightest grievances which is why he's working so hard for you." Alice reprimanded her which Hana understood. Her brother spoiled her so much even when they were young and she was grateful for that.

Hana slouched on the couch in their living room while listening to her parents. "Alright. I know I'm at fault in this matter since I couldn't answer your calls. I didn't want to take calls in places that I am not familiar yet. What if someone would snatch away my phone? That would be a disaster."

Rudolf could only chuckle at his daughter's silly excuse. They didn't pursue the matter since she's home already which was the most important thing for them.

After eating dinner, she had to call her brother and informed him about her day. He was like her living diary. She would tell him her problems, asked advice and share all the happy events in her life. Since her brother is working on a ship, he missed so many moments in her life and Hana had to make up with everything through phone calls.

"So the reason why you didn't answer mom's call was because you were spacing out after finding that you left one of your stolen sketches?" Adam asked in ridicule, thinking how he got the silliest girl as a sister. "I can't believe you to be so foolish."

"My dear brother, I just started working and my boss told me not to draw him. What can I do? He is such a rare piece that my hands couldn't help but drew him. I'm afraid he'll fire me tomorrow."

"Didn't you say that you won't fall for him? Why are you sketching him? All the other guys you had a relationship with started in that drawing. I don't even know if your talent is a gift or a curse."

"Bro, even if I like him, I won't ever tell him. I am fine with liking someone from afar."

"Sis, he isn't far! You are working under him, remember? Are you waiting to get your heart broken again?"

"Don't jinx it!"

If Adam was right beside her, she would've received a knock on her head already. She did tell him that she won't fall for her boss. But can you stop your heart? Can you tell your heart not to love? Even if she knew she'd get hurt in the end, it didn't matter to her. She only need to keep her emotions intact and never show it on her face.

"Fine. Do whatever you want. I am only asking for one thing. You have to be very careful." Adam spoke softly this time. His concern and love for his sister was evident in his voice.

"I know. I'll always keep that in mind." Hana promised. Her hands didn't stop working since she started calling her brother. At the end of the call, she made a new portrait of Jacob.

In her drawing, he was making a latte and his smile was a proof that he enjoyed what he was doing.

"Looks like I'll have to look for another job after tomorrow." Hana whispered while looking at her own drawing. "Well, let it happen. It doesn't matter anyway."

When she arrived to work on the next day, some of her colleagues were also present in the locker room.

Lily, the youngest staff who was still a university student, handed her a piece of paper. "This is yours, right?"

"Ah! Yes! Where did you get this?" Hana took back the sketch of her boss. She pocketed it with a smile like it was nothing.

"Are you stalking our boss? He told you not to sketch him yesterday." Lily stated with a matter of fact tone.

Hana sighed and her face turned solemn immediately. "I'm a fine art graduate. I always love to draw, sketch or paint. When I see something worth drawing, I couldn't keep my hands to myself and just draw it. Do you guys understand what I mean?"

They just looked at her helplessly before stuffing their things inside their locker. "Don't let the boss know about it. He'll get mad if he knew that you disobeyed him." Marvy, their pastry chef, told Hana before walking out of the room.

"Okay." Hana answered in whisper. In truth, she was so happy that only her colleagues saw the sketch. It didn't matter if she got herself reprimanded as long as she gets to continue her job.

With her worries and fears gone, Hana started her shift happily. She would sometimes stole a glance at her boss and etch his image in her brain so that she can draw him at home.

When she felt something was wrong, she immediately ran to the comfort room and wash her face. After making sure that she looked perfect in their eyes, she went out once again.

"I really like this place." Hana murmured while looking at the customers, the staff, the food and her boss. Suddenly, something popped in her mind.

Hana walked towards Jacob and leaned on the counter. "Boss, since you didn't want me to sketch you, can I sketch the cafe instead?"

Jacob looked at her before nodding his head since there's no harm in letting her draw their cafe.
