Chapter 85

Sam checked his body cultivation, but there were no significant changes.

Obviously, devouring bugs did not benefit him, at least in terms of cultivation, rather it was just his sick delirium and madness that made him devour them with such zeal.

Although recalling the events, it was not such a madness, even now in his right mind, recalling what he had experienced, he felt an unprecedented hatred for them.

He could not remember the creature because of which it all started, he did not even have time to really realize that something was wrong as he was thrown away.

The lack of skill, the anticipation of danger, upset him greatly.

Cultivators have this skill by default thanks to their spiritual sense, but at this stage it is extremely limited.

Sigh. The good news is that he has already covered 300 kilometers for sure, so he completed his task. It no longer makes sense for him to take such risks, and he will be able to focus on the meditation, which he has been ignoring all this time.

Sam did not lose himself over everything that happened, and he was not going to change his mind or lifestyle. But still, even in his insane impulses there was a certain meaning, and he perfectly understood this. Maybe sometimes it's better to risk your life than digging in shit all your life.

The problem here is that even though the risk of his life no longer caused any mental resistance in Sam, the risk of being in a helpless situation like with bugs, when he could not even commit suicide was actually scaring him to hell.

Sam lay on the bed and tried to let go of all his terrible memories and fears. He began to meditate calmly, enjoying the peace and quiet of this night.

The meditation was clearly going better than before, although it is difficult to say with what exactly it was connected, too much happened.

The next day, Sam already felt good, all that was left was to go to the river and take a shower, nevertheless he still looked terrible.

The river was not far away, and besides, he still cannot sit forever at the castle, so without hesitation he set off on the road.

The good news is that Sam has not actually met pack animals or creatures yet, they were at most a couple, and usually they are generally loners.

He quickly got to the river, not seeing anything dangerous, he took out a barrel and a bucket from the ring, and began to draw water into the barrel.

Before, he constantly wandered around the Amazon and not only, so he understood that even there it was dangerous in the water, but here with all these bugs around, he was not going to climb into the water for no particular reason.

Having washed himself thoroughly and changed his clothes, Sam stayed for a little fishing, and then went back.

There was scars and seams all over his body, so he was even uglier than usual. But he was never a handsome looking guy in the first place, so it was fine with him. Not that much of a difference.

Immediately after his return he went to Douglas and Pamela, all the same he was away for a long time. They again gathered around the bonfire, Sam cooked fish and talked with them. It turned out that another man from the Earth, which was absent since the last time they gathered, had never returned.

Douglas - He's not the only one missing, there are clearly missing ones among the others.

Sam - Yeah, I might not come back either, I met some kind of creature, perhaps even the Core Formation stage. Miraculously survived, most likely because he was just passing by, but I don't even know what he looked like.

They obviously did not meet anything like this, Douglas on the other side also reached the dead lands, he and Douglas are neighbors, so in principle there is nothing surprising.

Pamela - I didn't go that far, in fact I don't know if I even walked 50 kilometers, on my side there are high rocks in which these winged humanoids live. I watched them with binoculars, I don't even know how many there are, but I can hardly walk past them.

Douglas - I have already scouted 100 kilometers, so I can help you, after all, we need to explore as much territory as possible, the patriarch should not be against it. But I propose to postpone this, now it is better to focus on meditation and we do it later, the stronger we become, the safer it will be.

Pamela - Thank you.

Sam - Well, I'm basically done with my scouting task as well, so I don't mind helping if you want to.

Sam certainly didn't suddenly become a sympathetic good-natured person, but he wouldn't be able to sit in the clearing all month anyway. Better to go in three, it will be safer, at the same time he will be able to replenish stocks. At least there was nothing left to do.

Sam - Are you body or spirit cultivators? I am a body cultivator.

Pamela - We, too, only the missing was a spirit cultivator.

Sam - how long did it take you to break through while we were on the ship?
