The Walk

The next two days Ava stayed cooped up in her room barely eating and just sleeping. She was a resident doctor so she didn't have any emergency at the hospital and neither there was any surgery scheduled that needed her assistance so she stayed home. Lilly and James also didn't bother her and let her grieve in her own way. They thought Ava was upset about the breakup. The weather in the city stayed gloomy and it almost rained every now and then, by the time Sunday evening rolled in the rain finally stopped.

Ava felt much better on Sunday, she came out of her room and had lunch with her mother then watched tv in the living room for the whole afternoon. In the late afternoon, Ava decided to take a walk outside. Although she didn't show it but she was feeling very depressed after staying at home for the last two days.

Ava walked around the streets aimlessly, as it was weekdays there wasn't much rush on the streets. The air smelled very fresh because of the continuous rain for the last two days, it felt refreshing. As Ava walked through the square her eyes fell on the huge advertisement that was running on a LED screen in the corner. It was a picture of a famous international model called Amelia Taylor, who was wearing the latest set of jewelry designed by EL Jewelry. She stood there in her graceful figure, looking very elegant and noble in the stunning blue evening gown and a beautiful diamond necklace around her neck. Many people who walked passed the corner would stand there for a few seconds to admire the pictures.

Amelia Taylor was the top brand ambassador of KNIGHT International entertainment company. She looked so innocent and sweet. Recently, she has become very popular, occupying the screen of major TV stations.

"Amelia is so beautiful." There was admiration in the crowd.

"Yes and that's why someone powerful is there to back her up. Who doesn't know Oliver Knight is the one behind her? If it was not for her beauty, would he?" Someone said with a sour tone.

"Well, she is just a toy for those men. No matter how beautiful they are, they eventually get replaced by someone new."

"Well, who knows, maybe they will get married. It's not unknown that Oliver Knight and Amelia have some kind of relationship, they were seen coming out of hotels many times."

"Well, that's less likely. Oliver Knight is the most handsome eligible bachelor in the whole country. Someone so handsome and rich wouldn't surrender to a woman that easily."

Ava listened to the voices around her and smiled faintly. Oliver Knight, this name has been very popular in this city for a long time. The CEO of KNIGHT International was only 26 years old but he was a capable one. At this age, he reorganized the whole company, as soon as he took over. In a short period of three months, because of him, Knight International's stock rose by seven percent.

His existence was Like a God, every young woman in the city admired him. However, he was known to be the most arrogant and ruthless person when it comes to business. Although his face is plastered in every financial magazine and newspaper but very few people have actually seen Oliver Knight face to face. He is very private about his life and would rarely attend any entertainment event or give an interview on TV. No journalists were allowed to take his pictures without his permission, and no one had the guts to offend him, including those who run the city.

Ava walked passed those people, a bit distracted. When she heard these people talk about Oliver knight she didn't know why she suddenly start to think about the mysterious man from Thursday night. Such dark and cold eyes, she had never seen eyes like that before, who was that man? While she was thinking about him, some fragments of memory flashed in her mind, vaguely recalling the way he took her, and Ava's face turned red at those memories. She shook her head to get rid of those memories and suddenly realized that she had entered a dark alley with a dead end. Ava got a little scared and instantly turned to get out of the alley however as she turned she saw a few men approaching her. Ava felt a chill run through her bone but she kept her calm and decided to walk past them.
