Ava ran into her bedroom and locked the door before she fell on the floor and cried her heart out. After what felt like hours her tears stopped and Ava dragged her tired body from the floor to the bathroom to take a shower. Her movement was robotic as she turned on the shower head and stood under the spray until her skin turned red from the hot water, she rubbed her skin harshly almost peeling off a layer of her skin. But she didn't feel any pain, she just felt dirty. No matter how much she cleaned herself she just felt dirty for cheating on her loving boyfriend and for breaking her parent's trust. Ava has always been traditional and conservative that's why even though she was in a relationship with Jacob for four years they never slept with each other. So sleeping with a stranger was a big deal for her especially when she was saving herself for the love of her life.
After the long shower and the more emotional breakdown, Ava finally was able to calm down. She started to analyze the events of the night before. What exactly happened last night? How did she end up in a hotel with a stranger? She went to the club with Jacob and only drank a glass of wine poured by Jacob. Ava tried to remember carefully if she ate or drank anything other than the glass of wine, but she couldn't remember. After playing the piano, she went to the washroom and that's when she began to feel dizzy. Ava was well aware that her drinking capability was not good but that doesn't mean she would get drunk and faint after drinking only one glass of wine. Is it possible someone spiked her drink? But who would do that and Why? Other than Jacob and Mr. Miller no one really knew she was there. Besides she just came back to the city, she didn't have any friends here let alone enemies then why would someone try to spike her drink?
However, Ava couldn't shake off the odd feeling she had toward Jacob. He was acting really different last night, especially in front of Thomas Miller. Suddenly Ava started to feel very uncomfortable in her heart, is it possible that Jacob and Mr. Miller had some kind of agreement and Jacob spiked her... Ava didn't let herself think any further. Jacob was her boyfriend, they knew each other for more than seven years, and he was not that kind of person. She knew her well enough to know his character, he couldn't have done such a thing and would he do anything like that? Maybe she was overthinking everything.
Even though Ava didn't like the way Jacob's acted last night but that doesn't mean he would do a such malicious thing to her, they loved each other. She should not make assumptions about someone's character just based on an event. It could be just a coincidence. Maybe her drink was spiked but it was not meant for her and she just fall victim. At that thought, Ava's mind calmed down. She has already broken up with Jacob so why drag him into her mess? She should let it go, it's the 21st century, and losing virginity was not a big deal these days. She was a grown woman she didn't need to dwell on it instead she should just forget it and move on.
"Ava!" Lily knocked on Ava's door and waited outside for her to answer. After some time, Ava slowly responded, "Yes mom."
Lilly opened the door and stepped inside holding a tray of food for Ava. "Aren't you hungry, sweetie? I brought you some food." Lily looked at Ava feeling pain for her daughter. She didn't know what happened between Ava and Jacob but if her daughter decided to end her relationship with him there must be something very serious going on here.
Ava raised her head and forced a smile as she said lightly, "Thanks mom but I'm not hungry." She hasn't been moved from the bed since she got out of the shower. Fortunately, it was one of her rare off days, otherwise, she didn't know how she would handle patients at the hospital in this state of mind.
"Sweetie, you need to eat something, you cannot go on like this. I don't know what happened between you and Jacob but if you want to talk I am here. Please don't make me worry!" Lilly patted Ava's head and said lightly.
Ava forced another smile and said, "Mom, don't worry about me. I'm really OK."
Lily sighed and closed her eyes painfully. Ava has always been like this, she would hardly share anything and keep everything buried deep inside her. She didn't even have friends to share things with them, Lilly was really worried about Ava. She didn't know what had gone wrong with their family lately, everything seems to be falling apart. The company was on the verge of bankruptcy. Now her daughter broke up with her boyfriend. She just hoped the bad times will pass soon. Lilly didn't force Ava to say anything but she forcefully fed her some vegetable porridge before leaving her room.
