Beijing Tiantan Hospital
"Good Morning Dr. Green! You are early today." Charlie came from behind and greeted Ava warmly.
"Good Morning Dr. Byrne! You're early too." Ava said with a smile.
For a while, Charlie got distracted looking at Ava's smiling face, 'she was so beautiful and pure, it makes people want to fall in love with her at first sight,' he thought. A few days ago when Ava's family was going through troubles, the beautiful smile on her face disappeared for a while but now it's back again. It's so lovely that he couldn't take his eyes off her.
"Dr. Green, The the patient you are going to operate on this morning, his son wanted to see you. When I was on duty at the hospital last night I happen to meet him. He wanted to give you a red envelope before the operation to save the patient." Charlie said shaking his head helplessly.
"Oh! That's not really nice, I'm a doctor and it's my job to save lives, whether he gives me extra money or not I'll still give my best to save the patient. Besides, I don't do it for those gray incomes. Please help me turn him down. I have professional ethics, I cannot accept money like that." Ava said seriously.
"The patient's son said that if you didn't accept the red envelope, then he would like Director Brown to operate on his mother. He said Director Brown is more experienced anyway." Charlie said after hesitating for a moment.
"OK, no problem let Director Brown do it. I am sure he will be happy to get the red envelope." Ava said laughing.
"So, you will give up the patient just like that?" Charlie asked surprised.
"Mr. Byrne you are a doctor yourself, you do understand that the doctor-patient relationship is based on trusting each other. If the patient and their family do not have confidence in me then it's better to let them chose another doctor to do the operation, besides it's their right. So, I am ok with it." Ava's tone was relaxed and easy.
Hearing Ava Charlie couldn't help but admire her more. He suddenly had the urge to tell her how he felt about her and he blurted out: "Dr. Green, do you know that I like you very much?"
Ava who was walking down the corridor suddenly stop on her track, paused for a few seconds then she turned and said with a smile, "Thank you."
'Thank you? Did she just say thank you?' Charlie felt heartbroken, however, he didn't show it on his face he just smiled and said, "Let's go and have the meeting early."
Ava was not a fool how could she not understand what Charlie was saying, however, she didn't like Charlie that way and didn't want to embarrass him either by rejecting him so directly, besides that would only make things awkward between them in the future so she decided to play dumb.
After the morning meeting, Ava went to check the inpatient wards.
When she entered the ward of Michael Jones, she saw a handsome man was sitting on the chair beside the hospital bed. He had fair skin and sharp facial features with thick eyebrows, and light brown eyes under his long eyelashes. His brown curly messy hair looked soft on his head and gave him a boyish charming look. Anyone could see he was mixed-race. In his white T-shirt and blue jeans, which looked very casual and simple.
Ava came to Michael Jones and asked in a gentle voice "How are you feeling today Mr. Jones?" She started to check on him.
"Oh, I am doing fine now Dr. Green, thank you." He said then he turned to the handsome man beside him.
"Dr. Green I would like to introduce you to my son Liam", Michael said to Ava with a kind smile.
"Liam, this is Dr. Green, who I told you about earlier." He said.
"Hello, Dr. Green. I am Liam Jones. Thank you very much for saving my father and taking care of him these past days." Liam stood up and extended his hand in a gentle manner for a shake. His brown eyes were pure as water, Ava couldn't help but stare at them for a moment longer.
"Please don't mention it, Mr. Jones, this is what I should do." Ava shook his hand and said with a smile.
"Anyway, you are my father's savior. I wonder if Dr. Green is free tonight. I would like to invite you to dinner to thank you properly." Liam asked politely, his eyes were clear and there was a charming smile on his face, which made it hard for people to turn him down.
"Mr. Jones, thank you very much, it's very nice of you but you really don't have to invite me to dinner. Besides I already have an appointment tonight." Ava laughed and refused politely.
She knew there was a feud between Oliver and his Uncle, even though she didn't know what it was but for some reason, she thought Michael Jones must have done something to Oliver for him to be cruel enough to think of killing him. His uncle probably was not as simple as he looked so she also wanted to avoid having any contact with him and his family. Besides the fact that if Oliver found out she went to dinner with his cousin, he will probably bury her alive.
After Ava was done checking Michael she left the ward. However, Liam left a good impression on her. In her mind, Liam had a simple and clean temperament, just like a talented scholar.
After Ava left, the father and son began their real talk.
"Dad, was she the woman you were suspecting to be in a relationship with Oliver?" Liam's face became cold, the warm image he portrayed just a moment ago was long gone.
"Yes, if I'm right, she is currently living with Oliver in his villa," Michael said with a serious face.
"Living together, already?" Liam said sarcastically.
"Oliver must be very serious about her if they are already living together, in that case, we have to get close to this woman and earn her trust, when the time is right we can use her to control Oliver and take over the business. Liam, what you need to do now is to create more opportunities to have contact with this woman and become her trusted friend." Michael's scheming evil smile was dark and terrible.
"Ok, as Oliver is out of the country right now it's certainly a good time to make a move and approach Dr. Green," Liam said with a sly smile on his cold face.
"But remember not to overdo it, we still have time, so do it slowly. You need to let Dr. Green down her guards first." Michael's eyes suddenly darkened.
Just now this woman refused Liam's invitation without even thinking twice, which showed that she was still on guard against them.
Smiling charmingly Liam said, "Dad, I'm not sure about other things but when it comes to women I know what to do."
As for Ava, Liam had the determination to win.
"Be modest in front of her. I don't think she likes arrogant people." He reminded Liam.
"Yes, Dad." His face became gentle again.
"Now, go back to KNIGHT International and start your work while Oliver is away." He urged.
With a humble face, Liam walked out of the ward.
Ava just finished her rounds and bumped into him again, she nodded her head and smiled at Liam, and Liam returned it with a warm smile. Then, he walked away.
