The next morning, when Ava woke up she habitually touched Oliver's side and felt it was cold. She suddenly remembered what happened last night and thought probably Oliver didn't come back to the room again.
Ava freshened up and came downstairs. Mrs. Lee was waiting at the dining table for her, there was only one set of tableware at the table so she knew Oliver had already left.
"Good Morning Miss Green." Mrs. Lee felt Ava's mood was a little low, so she greeted her warmly.
"Good morning, Mrs. Lee." Ava walked up to the dining table slowly.
Ava was feeling a bit lost, living here with Oliver was really terrible, she didn't know which word or action of her will turns him into a beast again. It's like living life in constant fear. Ava has always lived a simple and carefree life and the people around her was also very simple so naturally, she never had to think about her action or measure her words before talking to anyone, she was not used to with that. But now before she says anything or does anything she had to think thousand times about whether that will affect Oliver's mood in some way. Living like this was really stressful for her.
"Miss Green, please have some breakfast, Mr. Knight has already left for work." Mrs. Lee said lightly thinking if it was a good idea to mention Oliver.
"I know," Ava said quietly and looked around with tired eyes. The place was really luxurious, but it was very cold. There was no homey feeling here, how could someone live in a place like this?
Ava couldn't understand Oliver's mind at all, when he was in a good mood he would treat her like a queen, he would take good care of her and look at her so lovingly that Ava could see the love in his eyes but when he was in a bad mood he will turn her life upside down, he will treat her so viciously that the hatred for Ava could also be seen in his eyes clearly at that time. She couldn't understand what actually Oliver felt for her how could a person love and hate someone at the same time.
"Mr. Knight might be short-tempered but he really cares about you, Miss Green." Mrs. Lee could see the sadness in Ava's eyes so she tried to patiently advise Ava.
"It's ok Mrs. Lee, I know who I am to him you don't have to make me feel better." Ava laughed at herself in self-mockery. Of course, she hadn't forgotten that she was only one of Oliver's women, he didn't care about her so how could she believe Mrs. Lee's words.
As a bystander, Mrs. Lee could see that both Ava and Oliver cared for each other but there seemed to be some kind of misunderstanding between the two and they always end up having fights, so she still wanted Ava to see that.
"Miss Green, don't say that I could see that Mr. Knight always worries about your wellbeing how could he not care about you?"
"Mrs. Lee, let's drop it. I will be leaving in half a month anyway so it really doesn't matter." Ava really didn't want Mrs. Lee to continue talk about Oliver She was afraid she will start to believe her even though she knew in her heart that she meant nothing to Oliver. Ava dropped her eyes and concentrate on her breakfast.
Mrs. Lee couldn't convince Ava, she sighed and thought both of them are too stubborn to see the truth. She hoped it wouldn't be too late before they realize that they love each other.
KNIGHT International.
Oliver stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the ground. There was an endless stream of people and cars below. Oliver liked to stand there on the top floor and looking at the strangers below on the road. The sun passed through the window and sprinkled on him, he felt a little warm.
Uncle Joe knocked on the door of the office and came in directly. In KNIGHT International, it was only him who would dare to enter Oliver's office without waiting for his permission.
"CEO Knight, why are you so early today?" Uncle Joe stood beside Oliver and joked.
"I need you to check someone for me, I'll give you a name. SAM." Oliver turned and his face hid in the shadow. No one could see the emotion on his face.
"Sam what?" Uncle Joe felt a headache coming. His master wanted him to find someone and gave him half of a name. It could be just a nickname. How he was going to find one Sam in a vast sea of people? He really felt frustrated.
"If I knew, you think I would ask you to check?" Oliver said coldly. He was very annoyed about what happened last night.
"Is it related to Miss Green?" Uncle Joe gave Oliver a sidelong glance and the changes in Oliver's face confirmed his doubts. So it turns out that Oliver was in a bad mood again because of Ava and this time it seems the master was jealous. Could it be a love triangle?
"Recently I found that your IQ has dropped a lot," Oliver answered Uncle Joe's questions in a different way by mocking him.
Uncle Joe didn't mind Oliver's words, of course, he knew how sharp his tongue could be. In fact, if one day he started to talk softly then he would think there was something wrong with him.
"I'll do it right away." Uncle Joe turned and left.
Beijing Tiantan Hospital
During the lunch break, Ava felt very tired she put her head on the table to rest her eyes.
Charlie saw it, he put down the documents in his hand and ask, "Dr. Green, Are you alright? You look tired."
"Well, I didn't have a good rest last night," Ava said softly rubbing her temple.
"Then you should get some rest before the afternoon operation," Charlie said thoughtfully.
"Thank you, Dr. Byrne." Ava forced a smile on her tired face.
"By the way, last night when I was on duty your mother dropped by, she was asking about you." Charlie almost forgot to mention it to Ava.
"What?" Hearing that her mother came to the hospital Ava almost jumped out of the chair.
"Yeah! It was around eight o'clock. She asked about you and then left." Charlie said innocently.
Ava's face fall, she was really worried, why did her mother dropped by and now what was she going to tell her to hide the truth from her mother. The more she thought about it the more flustered she got. Suddenly her phone ring interrupted her thoughts.
Ava looked at the caller ID took a deep breath and picked it up.
"Hello, mom," Ava said trying hard to stay calm.
"Hello Ava, are you busy? Can you come to the company to see me?" Lily asked quietly.
"Sure Mom, I'll be right here." Ava knew she will have to give her mother an explanation but she didn't know what to tell her. She certainly would not tell her about Oliver and her deal with him. Ava felt anxious. She didn't like to lie to her parents but she could not tell them the truth either.
Green's Group.
"Hello, Miss Green." Secretary Miss Jenna warmly greeted Ava.
Although Ava hardly came to the company but everyone knew she was the daughter of the CEO. "Hello, Miss Jenna," Ava said politely with a smile.
Miss Jenna took Ava to Lily's room, Lily was sitting at her desk reading some documents in front of her. Seeing Ava at the door Lily said in a low voice to Miss Jenna, "Please bring two cups of coffee for us."
Miss Jenna nodded and immediately ran to make the coffee. She came back after few minutes. Put down the coffee on the coffee table and left them alone.
Ava sat down on the sofa and saw her mother was still reading the file, she didn't dare to utter a single word.
After Miss Jenna left Lily came and sat opposite Ava elegantly, she took the coffee cup in her hand, and with a smile on her calm face she asked, "How are you doing these days, Ava?"
