Slave in the 21st century

Lilly turned and looked at Ava indifferently then said, "Ava I want to believe you but you not only broke my trust but also broke my heart by lying to me and hiding things from me. If you want me to trust you again then tell me everything and earn the trust back, if you can't do that then please don't expect anything from me again."

Ava didn't know what to do, yes she was wrong but she didn't have any choice at that time and she was desperate to get her father out of the prison. Otherwise, why would a woman like her give up her own dignity and freedom to become someone's toy? She really felt helpless. She couldn't tell her parent the truth but they gave her birth, raised her didn't they know her well? Why couldn't her mother just trust her this once? Now she felt really angry.

"Fine, I am leaving then, bye" Ava angrily left the Green Villa.

Sarah who was in the living room looked between the mother and daughter dumbfounded thinking what happened to them, why were they fighting like that but she didn't dare to ask anything to anyone. She silently kept watching the TV as if she wasn't there.

520 Haibin road.

Oliver was quietly sitting in the living room waiting for Ava. She already informed him that she will be late because she will have to drop Sarah at home, so Oliver was not angry. In fact, this has become a regular routine for him to come home and wait for Ava. He didn't even know if he had ever waited for someone to come home so eagerly.

When Ava got home Oliver looked at her face and instantly realized her face was not right, she must have had another fight with her mother. He didn't want to get involved in their matter so he decided not to ask, he simply asked, "Back?"

However he hated to see Ava upset like that, his own mood gets ruined whenever she was sad.

"Yes, did you have dinner?" Ava didn't look at Oliver, she knew if he saw the upset look on her face he will ask her about it and she didn't want to concern him with her problems. Little did she know that Olive has already seen it and was very upset himself.

"Not yet, I was waiting for you." Oliver stood up stepped forward and head toward the dining.

Mrs. Lee had already prepared a table full of food. Today it was western food on the menu. She thought Oliver and Ava have been eating Chinese food all this time at home so for a change she prepared western food for them tonight.

Ava sat down at the table and started to eat silently but she had no appetite so she was mostly staring at the food then eating it.

Oliver couldn't take it anymore his face became dark and he said angrily "If you don't want to eat then don't eat, why are you ruining other's appetite with that face of yours?"

Although Ava has been living with Oliver for a while and she was already used to his sharp tongue still she felt hurt hearing him. She looked at Oliver sadly, she couldn't control her mood, she was sad and upset how could she eat happily in front of him?

"Look at you, it looks like someone has died. Can't you at least change your mood when entering the house?" Oliver was very angry.

He was already hungry still he waited for Ava to come home so they could have dinner together. Who knew she would come back home with a dead face and wouldn't even bother to look at him let alone give a smile.

"Why do I always have to do what you want?" Ava was already upset because of her mother now Oliver was nagging her she got even angrier. Why can't they just leave her alone? She was a human, wasn't it normal to feel sad or get angry sometimes?

"Ava, don't forget who you are and why you are here. You are just my toy, and your job is to entertain me. Even if you are in a bad mood you have no right to show it in front of me, you must always greet me with a smile." Oliver's words were as sharp as a knife once again cutting Ava's heart and reminding her that she was nothing to him but a toy.

Ava didn't know what to say, she was angry just now but at this moment she felt really sad, in this 21st century she had a master and she was just his slave just like ancient times. She couldn't refute him. He was right she didn't have any right to show her emotion in front of Oliver.

"I am sorry." Ava didn't want to argue with Oliver so she concentrated on the food in front of her. The food was delicious so she devoured it and finished it quickly.

Hearing her apology and seeing her eating obediently Oliver's anger vanished and a rare smile showed up on his handsome face.

Oliver was a control freak. He didn't like it when things were out of his control and Ava was certainly a person hard to control so Oliver felt anxious whenever she wouldn't listen to him and kept losing his temper even over small matters. Whenever she behaved well and listened to him obediently he felt self-satisfaction and automatically started to dot on her.

Ava looked at the handsome face in front of her and thought to herself, god knows how many hearts were captured by this handsome face and how many hearts were broken by his sharp tongue.
