Jacob's Freedom

At the Detention Centre.

James Green jumped out of his Porsche and stood in front of the detention center. This place was a nightmare for him, he had seen the difficult and low life here. James thought he wouldn't be able to get out of this terrible place. He still has nightmares about the time when he stayed here.

Today James came here for Ava, he thought about what Ava said to him, although he didn't want to let go of this scum but for his daughter's sake he decided to compromise.

"Uncle James, why are you here?" Through the glass window, Jacob looked at James surprised. He never thought after what he did, James will ever come to see him here but still seeing him there was hope in his heart, at least he will have a chance to apologize to him.

"I know what you're thinking but I didn't come here because I forgave you. In fact, I would have forgiven you if you have only hurt me but you dared to hurt Ava and for that, I will never forgive you in this life.

Jacob lowered his head, he couldn't look at James after hearing that he felt very guilty, James was right, he was a despicable person and what he did to Ava was unforgivable. If he only knew that his actions would push Ava to another men's arm he would rather not think of revenge and live a happy life with Ava. He really loved her. But what could he do now he couldn't change the past, he couldn't get Ava back. It's too late for him, maybe after he finishes his 8 years sentence he will ask her for forgiveness.

"Uncle, I know you and Ava will not be able to forgive me, and I do not expect you to after what I did, but I am really sorry. If I could go back and change everything then I would but I can't do that," Jacob said dejectedly.

"In those days, buying your father's company was the best choice for your father. At that time, his company was about to go bankrupt, and I bought Adam's group to give your father a way to live but instead of choosing that your father decided to be a coward and killed himself. How am I responsible for that?" James's face was expressionless when he explained the truth to Jacob.

In fact, Jacob also knew his father was an unreasonable person, and to keep his pride he chose to jump off the building and leave him behind. He didn't even know how his one decision affected Jacob's whole life. He could have a normal and happy life but instead all these years he was burning with hatred and now he was rotting in jail.

"Uncle, I don't want to talk about the past anymore. Thank you for coming today to see me and I am really sorry to put you and your family through all this." Jacob bowed his head sincerely.

During the time he spent in the detention center he had a lot of time to think about what he had done and now he realized his mistake. He never should have involved Ava in his resentment and he also realized that he shouldn't have blamed the Green family for his father's death after all it was his father's choice no one forced him to commit suicide.

James narrowed his eyes, he was trying to understand Jacob's mind. He thought he had a good eye for people as he had been walking in the mall for so many years. However, the only person he was unable to understand was the person in front of him. When he first met Jacob he thought he was a good man, he was very hard working and had a promising future. James never expected him to approach his daughter with a purpose.

"Jacob, if you really regret your actions then I could give you a chance, that's the reason for my visit today. No, I am not forgiving you but I still can withdraw the case and set you free, however, I have one condition." James looked at Jacob in the eye and said sharply.

Jacob looked at James surprised and confused at the same time, he never thought James would have such a big heart to let him go after he almost ruined his family. He asked in a low voice, "What's the condition?"

"When you are released, you will have to leave this city and never come back," James said indifferently.

Leave forever!

Jacob's heart was pounding in his chest. Although his parents left him early but this was the place where he grew up, all his life he spent here, lots of memories were attached to this place how could he just leave? Could he really leave for his freedom? And where would he go? Jacob fell into deep thought. Maybe it was because of Ava he was reluctant, she brought too many beautiful memories to him in this place, after all, they were each other's, first love.

"Uncle, do I have to leave the city? I promise you, I will never appear in front of Ava again in my life but this is my home, I really don't want to leave." Jacob said in a low pleading tone. Although he was aware that he was not in the condition to negotiate still he tried one last time.

James looked at him coldly and said: "Jacob don't you think I am letting you off very easily? Everyone has to take responsibility for their actions. This is a very small price for your freedom. Think about it and let me know. Once you make your decision I will drop the case however let me warn you, if you go back on your word then I will put you back behind the bar."

Jacob closed his eyes in pain, James was right, he was letting him go very easily. He had no other choice but to agree to him. He opened his eyes and said, "OK Uncle I agree to your terms but before I leave, can I see Ava one last time?"

"That's not something I can promise, you need to ask her if she wanted to see you," James said calmly. Although he said that but he knew Ava would probably agree to see him for the last time after all she loved him once.

"Thank you, uncle." Jacob said in a choked voice it was getting hard for him to hold back the tears in his eyes, he stood up and bowed to James sincerely.

"Well, I hope from now on you will make the right choices and live a good life." Saying that James stood up and left.

Jacob stood there looking at his back and feeling grateful toward him. James and Ava gave him a second chance, he will definitely work hard and not let his life go to waste. Maybe one day he will be able to establish his own business and make his own home somewhere.

Sometimes, fate changes in a flash. The future is always unpredictable still everyone looks forward to their future.
