Charlie and Susan rushed up to Ava to congratulate her.
"Dr. Green, you have become so powerful now, we might need your support in the future," Charlie said humorously.
"So true Dr. Green, no one can hold you down anymore." Susan was very happy for Ava. She always treated her like a daughter.
"What are you talking about, didn't you see Dr. Sylvia's face just now? I think my good days at work are over." Ava frowned and said dejectedly.
It's really difficult to keep a good relationship with all your colleagues. Some people will always hate you whether you did anything to them or not.
"Don't worry Dr. Green, she wouldn't dare to go against you now. By the way, I'm counting on you to cover me later!" Charlie said laughing.
Although Charlie was very happy for Ava but now that she had become the Director, he felt like it was getting hard to keep up with her. He still had a hope that Ava would agree to be with him someday.
"Yes Dr. Green, Don't worry about other people, the better your position will be, the more people will be jealous of you. All you need is to do your job properly and ignore those people." Susan said quietly and heartily cheered for Ava.
Ava nodded and her mood got better thinking how good they were to her. She felt very motivated, Susan was right she could not satisfy everyone so what she could do was to do her job and ignore those indifferent eyes.
During the lunch break, Ava and Mia went to the lounge to eat and everyone started to congratulate her. Looks like everyone at the hospital already knew that she got promoted and became the head of Interventional Cardiology.
"Congratulation Doctor Green, you have become the Director of Interventional Cardiology." Dr. Tyson was walking behind Ava with his food tray in his hand, he said with a smile.
"Thank you, Dr. Tyson." Ava chuckles.
"Doctor Green, being a Director is a huge responsibility but don't feel stressed. You will get there." Dr. Tyson sat down and advised her politely. There was a charming smile on his handsome face.
Mia rolled her eyes, everyone knew that Dr. Tyson had a thing for Ava. He was from the Department of anesthesiology. Whenever Ava had an operation Dr. Tyson would be there.
"Well, Thank you, Dr. Tyson. I really appreciate all of your support." Ava said sincerely and took out her phone.
She saw Oliver sent her a message and a beautiful smile automatically appeared on her lips. Oliver asked her what were she having for lunch? Ava took a picture of her food and sent it to him.
"Wow Dr. Green is smiling so shyly, are you texting your boyfriend?" Dr. Tyson said teasing Ava. He loved that smile on Ava's face.
Ava was stunned hearing Dr. Tyson for a second then said with a mysterious smile, "Well yes, but could you please keep that quiet for now." She didn't want to let the whole world know just in one day that Oliver Knight was her boyfriend. Besides their relationship was not stable yet. So she wanted to keep the news to herself for now.
Dr. Tyson shook his head helplessly and said dejectedly, "Looks like I'm done then."
Ava chuckled and jokingly said, "What are you talking about Dr. Tyson? You are so handsome, I am sure a lot of women are head over heels in love with you."
"What's the point of others being in love with me when the one I want to like me doesn't?" Dr. Tyson smiled, showing his sincere feelings on his face.
Ava felt a bit tense, sometimes being liked by many people was not necessarily a good thing.
"Dr. Tyson is a wonderful man, I am sure he will find the right person for him," Ava said with a smile. She didn't know what else she could say.
Mia quietly sat there and listen to their conversation. She felt pity for Dr. Tyson, Ava rejected him so directly. She felt sometimes being beautiful was really stressful when you have a lot of admirers.
Dr. Tyson clearly understood what Ava meant and he knew he had no chance with her. He felt very sad but didn't say anything else.
After returning to the office, Ava thought she should share the news of her promotion with Oliver so she texted him.
Ava: Oliver, I have been promoted and became the head of the Interventional cardiology department.
Oliver saw her text and he immediately replied: "Congratulations little fool, are you happy?"
Ava was just typing another reply when Mia came with two cups of coffee. "Ava, I have something to tell you. Come with me." Mia said with a smile and handing her one cup.
"OK," Ava said with a smile, taking the coffee.
Rooftop.
The sun was dazzling and the breeze was light outside. Ava and Mia were sitting on the stairway of the rooftop in the shade.
"Congratulations, Ava! Now you are the Director of Interventional Cardiology department." Mia said happily, her eyes were bright like stars.
Ava chuckled, "Thank you. But that's not why you brought me here, right?"
"No. Actually today the nurses were all talking about last night's KNIGHT International confession display. Did you know about it?" Mia asked hesitantly.
She knew that must be Oliver knight's doing, she just wasn't sure who he asked out. She was worried about Ava and thought if she didn't know then she should give her a heads up.
"I know, in fact, I was going to tell you. Last night, that display was for me. Oliver asked me out and I said yes. So we are kind of official now." Ava thought she could share it with Mia. She was a trustworthy person and wouldn't tell anyone.
Mia was surprised, although she just recently found out about them but she didn't think Oliver Knight would ask out Ava so quickly. So Mia was still a bit worried about Oliver's sincerity toward Ava.
"Is he sincere to you?" Mia asked in a low voice that was full of concern.
"Well, I think so. He has been really nice and very caring toward me for the past few days. I believe him." Ava's eyes drooped with a smile. Her heart felt warm thinking of Oliver.
Hearing Ava Mia felt relief and her eyes lit up. "Well Ava, double congratulations then! I am really happy for you. Always remember I will be there to support you whatever decision you make, OK!"
"Thank you, Mia."
Friendship is simple, with simple words and simple comfort, someone could touch one's heart. Ava had been holding back her heart for a long time because she was scared that she wouldn't find a true friend and in fear of losing a friend again. But now she realized time always heal every scar and no one should be scared to start over. Just like she started over and found a friend like Mia and a love like Oliver.
