Living in Denial

"CEO Knight, Miss Anderson is here to see you." Sophia Oliver's chief secretary came inside his office and informed him. If it was some other woman, she would have sent her away, Oliver gave her that much authority but she knew Kiara Anderson's relationship with the CEO was not simple so she had to inform Oliver.

"OK," Oliver said lazily and looked up from the file he was reading.

Today, Kiara was wearing a goose yellow short pencil skirt with a white top and high heels, a white designer handbag was hanging on her wrist. She had her usual make-up with red lips and red nails which seems to be her trademark and the long chestnut wavy hair was loose on her back.

"Hi Oliver, I went shopping this afternoon and was passing by KNIGHT International so decided to drop by, I hope you don't mind," Kiara said coquettishly in a soft voice.

Sophia came in to give them two cups of coffee and hurriedly walked out. She didn't like Kiara at all, she felt Kiara was very proud of being born into a rich family so she was very arrogant and mean to other people. Except in front of Oliver Knight, she was always very rude to everyone.

"You went shopping in this hot weather, aren't you afraid of getting heatstroke?" Oliver said gently laughing and getting up from his desk.

"It's an indoor shopping mall." Kiara walked slowly to Oliver showing off her perfect figure. She made up about the whole shopping thing, she had intentionally came to see Oliver.

"So what up? What made you came to see me all of a sudden?" Oliver was a smart man, of course, he knew Kiara came here for a reason and he also could guess the reason behind her visit today.

Kiara chuckled and pulled Oliver to the sofa to sit down. "Well, I missed you so came to see you, can't I?"

"Yes, of course." Oliver put his hand around Kiara's shoulders and smiled.

Seeing Oliver was holding her so intimately she leaned on him and put her head on his chest.

"Oliver, did you miss me?" Kiara said in a very soft tone circling on Oliver's chest gently.

Like most of the men, Oliver didn't like women who were too active and easy to get. Besides Oliver had been loyal to only one woman all these years.

"Sure," Oliver said lightly.

A smile rose on Kiara's face, she wrapped her arms around Oliver's waist and said lightly, "Oliver, last night in your office LED display, there was a proposal."

Oliver snorted coldly he knew she was here for that. "Yes, there was." Oliver's reply was plain.

"A lot of people on the internet were guessing that it was you who did it, so did you?"

"Me? To whom?" Oliver smiled although his face was cold.

Oliver simply denied it, he didn't want to reveal his and Ava's relationship to Kiara for the time being. He knew it couldn't be concealed for very long, but he was worried Kiara might end up hurting Ava, so he had to comfort Kiara's injured heart first before he could tell her the truth.

"Then who did it?"

"It was just an experiment. Besides, when such confession is made through the LED display, a first name or the last name of the person who was proposed to would appear there. Last night's confession didn't even have anyone's name on it. If I would do such high profile confession then don't you think, I would let the whole city know who I was doing it for?" Oliver said very seriously. This was the reason Oliver didn't reveal Ava's name, so no one could guess anything about the confession.

"But I heard that you took a strange woman to the business party the other night?" Kiara didn't believe Oliver so she asked about the party directly.

"Well it was female star recently debuted, it's just for hype?" Oliver said without changing his face.

Oliver could see that she was not convinced so he said, "Kiara this is the business world, profit and loss is the most important part when it comes to business, so obviously I have to do many things including mingling with other women's when it was about my company profit. Your father is a businessman, you should know about all this already. Why are you asking these silly questions?"

Hearing Oliver, Kiara felt a bit embarrassed, because he was right she knew all that. "Oliver, I'm sorry. I just feel a bit upset to see you with other women." Kiara said sincerely.

Ava's face appeared in Oliver's mind suddenly hearing Kiara's words, he thought, Ava hardly got jealous so he couldn't tell what was on her mind. But he was sure that she loved him because he could see it in her eyes.

Oliver shook his head and said, "It's OK, Kiara, I understand."

After the talk with Oliver Kiara was in a good mood, she took Oliver's arm and said, "Oliver, let's have dinner tonight."

Oliver looked at the watch and saw it has already been more than half an hour he was talking to Kiara. "I can't, I have a meeting tonight. Next time ok!"

Kiara looked at Oliver with discontent, he was always like that, she would invite him for dinner and he would just refuse to say he was busy. Normally men invite women to dinner but in this case, it was always the opposite. It's not that Kiara didn't understand what this meant, she just wanted to live in denial.

Kiara bit her lips and said in a sweet whisper, "Your next time never comes."

Oliver patted Kiara on the shoulder and said, "Well, I am busy. I will have dinner with you when I have some free time."

Kiara saw Oliver stood up from the sofa so she understood he was ready to see her off. She reluctantly stood up and before he could ask her to leave she said, "OK, I'll see you later then."

Oliver nodded, "OK."

Suddenly, Kiara stood on her tiptoe hooked her arms on Oliver's neck, and plant a light kiss on his left cheek. Although she wanted to kiss on his lips but she remembered he once refused her directly and after that, she never dared to try that again.

After Kiara left, Oliver's face twisted in disgust. He didn't like being kissed by Kiara at all, in fact, he has been giving her a hint not to do that, but this girl either doesn't understand his hints or actually didn't care.

Oliver walked into the washroom quickly and washed his face. He looked in the mirror and thought he only loved being kissed by Ava, although she hardly took initiative to kiss him but whenever she did his heart would fill with joy.
