The Old Debt

The elevator went up and stopped on the 20th floor with a "ding-ding" sound and few people were about to enter when they saw Oliver's fierce eyes. They all froze in place until Oliver said in a low but cold voice, "Get out." All of them took their step back and didn't dare to enter the elevator.

"Oliver, you're a tyrant," Ava said in a coquettish tone and smiled helplessly.

"Well, what can I do? I missed you." He said in a gentle voice then again kissed her as if he was addicted to her.

"Stop it, Oliver, this is a hospital." Ava chuckled and pushed him away.

Oliver let Ava get back to her work and left the hospital. Uncle Joe was waiting for him beside his car outside the hospital, Oliver got in the car quickly and Uncle Joe drove out of the hospital. He thought to himself the master has really fallen hard, he never went to see any women in the middle of the day leaving his busy work schedule before, however, for Miss Green, he would probably leave a million dollar negotiation and run after her without even giving a second thought.

"Mr. Knight, I think what you said earlier was not really true." Uncle Joe looked through the rearview mirror to Oliver and said worriedly.

Oliver was looking outside the window, he looked at him and asked lazily, "What are you talking about?"

"Are you serious about Miss Green?" Uncle Joe asked directly.

"What do you think?" Oliver asked back with a smile, his eyes were filled with an unpredictable emotion.

"I think, you're in love with her!" Uncle Joe said confidently.

Oliver smiled then said softly, "Oh? Is that so?"

Uncle Joe thought of Oliver's situation and suddenly said with a little hesitation, "CEO Knight, I think Miss Green is a good person. Maybe she didn't know what happened back then, you should probably find it out before blaming her."

Uncle Joe could see it clearly and he was sure Ava didn't know what happened after the accident, if that's the case then it was not her fault. Why should Oliver punish her and himself by playing this game? It will eventually break both of their heart.

Oliver glanced at him and in a deep voice he said, "Who is your master, me or her?"

Uncle Joe closed his mouth and concentrated on driving. He knew Oliver was stubborn even if he knew what he said might be true, he will still do what he wanted to. He sighed in his heart.

KNIGHT International,

Oliver came out of the elevator, Sophia hurriedly came to him and informed respectfully, "CEO Knight, madam is waiting for you in your office."

"OK." Oliver nodded. He could already guess why Ella suddenly decided to pay a visit to him.

Oliver entered his office and saw his mother was sitting elegantly on the sofa and eating snacks. She had put on some light makeup and curled her hair which made her look younger than she actually was. She didn't look like a 26 years old young man's mother at all.

"Mom." Oliver cried out with a soft smile.

"You rascal, now you remember, you still have a mother." Ella put down her fork, picked up a pillow from the sofa, and threw it at Oliver.

Oliver caught it and said with a boyish smile "Of course, my lovely mother always stays in my heart." In front of Ella Oliver was always like that, childish, coquettish, and a sunny boy.

"Why would I stay in your heart? Do you think I am dead?" Ella asked raising one of her eyebrows and looking at him seriously. At that moment the mother and son resembled so much that anyone could guess their relationship.

"Mom, don't talk nonsense. You are in my heart because you are so lovely and I love you so much that I couldn't put you anywhere but my heart." Oliver said so seriously that Ella was amused by him and couldn't stop but raise her mouth to a smile.

She thought her son was such a smooth talker no wonder he was always surrounded by women. Ella picked up her fork and said with a smile, "Boy, you have got honey on your tongue."

"Oliver let me get to the point of why I came to see you here today. I think you already could guess." Ella said with a serious face.

Of course, Oliver knew it was because of Kiara but he wouldn't say anything first. "Mom, tell me, I am listening," Oliver said in a relaxed tone.

"Kiara came to the mansion yesterday and cried a lot saying, how badly you treated her because of an outsider. She felt very humiliated." Ella looked at Oliver worriedly.

When Oliver was young he was so well behaved and polite that Ella never had to worry about him, but now that he has grown up, he was making her worry about his relationship entanglements.

"Mom, you know her, she's too arrogant," Oliver said with a helpless smile.

"Yes, we all know she is like that but you cannot be too obvious you know, after all, it's not only about you two, the two families have a close relationship for generations. At least for your grandpa's sake treat her nicely. Oh, that reminds me, your grandpa's 80th birthday is coming on the 15th of next month. Don't forget to prepare a gift for the old man." Ella reminded softly.

At that thought, Oliver felt a headache. His grandfather Charles Knight loves Kiara very much because Kiara's grandfather once helped Isabela Knight, Oliver's grandmother in her most difficult time. From then on the two families became really close, so it was Charles's wish to marry Kiara and Oliver in order to repay Kiara's grandfather's kindness. That was one of the reasons Oliver couldn't do anything to Kiara after she threatened Ava.

"Ok, thanks for the reminder." Oliver stretched out his fingers and started to rub his temple gently.

"And don't forget to take Kiara with you as your companion. You know the old man likes her very much." Ella added and gave him a sidelong glance.

Oliver pursed his lips lightly, there was unwillingness in these cold eyes. It was really annoying that to make his grandparents happy he had to accompany Kiara.

"Mom, please tell Grandpa and Grandma to give up the thought, I am never going to marry Kiara." Oliver's tone was firm and a little harsh. He was really annoyed why would he have to pay his grandparent's debt by marrying Kiara?

"Sorry I can't do it, you say it yourself." Ella simply refused him.

Ella knew well who Charles Knight was. He was even more powerful than Oliver and Conner half a century ago. No one dared to go against him. Although he is old now but he is still very influential and well connected with many powerful people. From the governor to the local gangsters all the people respected him and listened to his advice. So who would dare to talk to him about Oliver and Kiara?

"Fine! I'll talk to them myself." Oliver's tone was a little bit haughty.

Ella stared at him and thought, actually it's better if Oliver could talk to Charles directly and sort this out. If Ella tried that Charles would get really pissed at her but it's different for Oliver. He was their only grandson and they loved him very much, even if his demands make them unhappy they would probably express their dissatisfaction verbally but would eventually agree to him.
