The incident on the street

Crystal Street.

The golden sunlight was very warm and soothing in the early morning. As it was still very early so there were not many people at the square. Erika was walking absent-mindedly with a Chanel handbag in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.

Last night was Jessica Murphy's birthday. She posted a photo of her and Arvin celebrating her birthday at her friends of the circle, which made Erika very upset all night so she got out to take a walk in the early morning.

Erika, Arvin, and Jessica were all in high school together but she was not friends with her, in fact, they hardly talked with each other back then. Jessica always liked Arvin, she would bring delicious homemade cookies and cakes for Arvin every day. Arvin would show off those in front of Erika and she would get annoyed and always would end up having a fight with him. Back then Erika was very naïve she didn't know what love was but she still would get jealous whenever Arvin would do that. She didn't even know when she started to develop feelings for Arvin. By the time she realized, it was already too late.

Arvin was also a stubborn man. He tried to express his feelings to Erika several times, but Erika was always so indifferent about it, so at some point, he stopped. Back then Erika was a child star and she would always be busy with either work or study. So she didn't want to concentrate on love and honestly, she didn't even know how she felt for Arvin at that time. She always thought they were close friends. It was not until Arvin got engaged to Jessica that Erika finally realized how she truly felt for him. Now she regrets not agreeing to him. If only she was not too slow to understand her own mind then she and Arvin would be together now.

Last night, when she saw Arvin and Jessica together laughing happily, she felt bitter in her heart. She was so depressed that she couldn't sleep all night. Maybe it's time for her to let him go. Some relationships are just not meant to be, it's probably better to stay friends.

Erika was walking along the sidewalk, she saw a beggar on the street. Erika was a very soft-hearted person, seeing the beggar she stopped to give him some money for food and clothes.

At that moment, a man wearing a black hoodie suddenly came out of nowhere and snatched the bag from her hand and before Erika could understand what just happened he ran off with a swift movement.

"Stop...stop...help .. help... somebody help." Erika started to scream and ran after the thief when she got back her senses and realized she just got mugged. However, running in a pair of high-heeled shoes was nearly impossible for her so she had to give up after taking a few steps.

There was a lot of cash and bank cards in the bag and Erika's mobile phone. Erika didn't care about the money, she was worried about her phone. She was a celeb and there were many private things including various chatlogs between friends and colleagues were on her mobile phone. If it got into the wrong hand then she could be in trouble.

While Erika was thinking about what to do, suddenly a man appeared from behind her in a white shirt and a pair of Arthur's sneakers. He started to run in the direction where the thief went to. Erika had no hope, but ten minutes later the man in a white shirt came back with her purse in his hand.

"Miss, your bag." The man carried Erika's handbag in his left hand. His right hand was injured and bleeding.

Erika stared at the man for a while, she felt although the man was not particularly handsome but his eyes looked really warm which makes people comfortable around him.

"Miss, your bag, I've got it back for you." The man saw Erika didn't respond, so despite the pain, he smiled and said it again.

"What? Oh, thank you. Thank you so much." Erika took the bag from the man's hand and that's when she noticed that his other hand was bleeding.

"Oh my god, your hand, it's bleeding. How did you get hurt?" Erika quickly took out some paper towel from her bag and pressed it on the man's right hand.

"Don't worry about it. It's just a small cut, the mugger had a knife. Could you please look at your bag and check if anything is missing?" The man said with an embarrassed look.

Erika lowered her head and took a quick look inside her bag when she saw her phone was there, she was relieved and looked at the man.

"I'll take you to the hospital. Your wound looks deep you must treat it right away." Erika said with a serious face and took the man's hand to check his injured hand again.

Normally she doesn't get close to any man apart from Arvin, Oliver, or her colleagues when she works on a play but the man in front of her made her feel safe so she didn't hesitate when she held his hand. Beside the man just risked his life to get her purse back and Erika admired his courage. She held his injured hand tightly and she was determined to take him to the hospital herself. For helping her out that's the least she could do for him.

"Miss it's OK. Don't worry about it. It's nothing serious." The man took back his hand uncomfortably and shook his head to refuse Erika.

"No, you must go to the hospital. It's summertime if you don't treat it quickly the wound will get inflamed and it will take at least two weeks to heal it properly." Erika said with a serious face.

"Miss I am a man, this injury is nothing to me. Please I don't want to bother you for such a small thing." The said with a gentle smile.

Actually, at other times he probably wouldn't get involved in incidents like mugging but he saw Erika stopped in the street to give money to the beggar, so he felt the woman was really kind and that's why he helped her.

"Don't argue with me. If you don't go to the hospital with me right now, I'll follow you around everywhere you go." Erika put her hands on her hips and threatened the man.

"Well, ok. Let's go to the hospital." The man smiled helplessly.

Erika got into the car and start to drive. It was so quiet inside the car that Erika felt very awkward so to make the atmosphere a bit easy Erika started a conversation.

"We didn't really introduce ourselves to each other. My name is Erika. What's your name?" Erika said looking on the road.

"I am Samuel Evan." The man said quietly.
