The Struggle

The next day at KNIGHT International.

Arvin came inside the CEO's office and sat down on the sofa leisurely, suddenly something caught his eyes. He found chestnut curly hair on the sofa, he was a bit surprised because this was the first time he found a women's hair in Oliver's Office. If it was black he wouldn't be surprised at all because that would be normal as his girlfriend's hair was black and straight. But since it was chestnut, most likely it was Kiara's hair. He was wondering if they have made up already.

"Oliver, was there a woman who slept on this sofa?" He asked with a smile raising one of his eyebrows.

Oliver rolled his eyes and said, "it's a pity you don't want to be a detective. You would be an excellent one."

"Too bad man, I feel heartbroken for Ava. Being your girlfriend is so pathetic." Arvin said shaking his head.

Seeing Arvin shaking his head, Oliver said with a slight smile, "You'd better care about your fiancée than my girlfriend."

Oliver intentionally mentioned the word "fiancée" in front of him to remind him his situation was worse than him.

Arvin sighed and said, "I don't need to care about her, I don't want to marry her anyway."

"And who do you want to marry?" Oliver asked even though he knew very well what his answer would be.

"Of course it's your sister," Arvin said with a serious look.

"Come on, then you have to break the engagement with Jessica first. My sister is not that cheap."

"Yes.. yes your Knight family are the noblest."

"Arvin, seriously, if you really don't want to marry Jessica then let go as soon as possible. Don't entangle yourself with two women." Oliver suddenly became serious and advised him.

Break the engagement? Yes, he also wanted to do that but it was not that easy. His parents were on a world tour at this moment, if he did something like that without letting them know, they surely will come back home and kill him. It's not that he wasn't afraid that if he keeps delaying it, he might actually lose Erika but right now he had no choice.

Arvin never wanted to get engaged in the first place but he was really tired of Erika's indifferent attitude. Any chance he got, he always tried to tell her how he felt about her but she never cared. So he actually decided to get engaged in a hope that Erika would finally confront her own feelings. He thought if she found out he was getting married to someone else she will realize her love for him. However, to his disappointment, Erika didn't react at all and even attended his engagement party happily. Both brother and sister were the same, heartless!

"Well, I also want to give you the same advice. If you don't love then let go as soon as possible. Do you think it's fun to play with Ava's heart?" Arvin sighed helplessly and felt bad for Ava once again. Such an innocent and foolish woman had fallen in love with this monster.

Oliver suddenly become silent for a moment then he asked with a light smile: "How do you know I don't love her?"

"Are you telling me that you have put down your past?" Arvin asked seriously.

He knew him well. If Oliver could put down his past that easily then he wouldn't have run to his house in the middle of the night to drink his sorrow.

"Why do I have to put it down? Can't I live with both? In this world, all the people struggle to live, don't they?" Oliver smiled and said in a low voice.

"Oliver, that way you will not only hurt her but also hurt yourself. Man, I am your brother I don't care if Ava got hurt but if you drowned in all this chaos it won't be worth it." Arvin's face became gloomy, he was really worried if Oliver doesn't make his feelings clear, he will end up hurting both Ava and himself.

It's not that Oliver doesn't love Ava, Arvin could see that he does, but the problem was Oliver still couldn't make peace with his past and that's why he was struggling in his heart. He doesn't understand how he would feel if he tears open those wounds again.

"I know what I am doing." Oliver crossed his long legs and sat comfortably on the sofa.

Arvin signed, picked up the coffee cup from the table and took a sip gently then said sarcastically, "Sure you do."

"Do you want to go to the water park this Saturday?" Oliver suddenly changed the topic and asked with a lazy smile on his face.

Arvin stared at Oliver for a moment then put down the coffee cup and asked with disdain: "Why would I want to go to such a place?"

"Well, someone likes it," Oliver replied with a sly smile.

"Don't you hate crowded places? It just opened recently I heard many people visit it every day and it gets crazy busy." Arvin looked at Oliver's smile and narrowed his eyes, he suddenly felt that the man in front of him has changed, he was not that cold CEO anymore.

"I booked the whole place for us," Oliver said softly.

Arvin: "..."

"You really have no place to spend your money."

"Aren't you, the same young master? Why are you crying?" Oliver said with a smile.

"Just the three of us? It's boring? Why don't you invite Rika as well?" Arvin said with an evil smile.

"Why don't I invite your fiancée? It'll be more fun." Oliver sneered and gave him a sidelong glance.

"You know what, you are right. It's more fun, please invite Kiara as well." Arvin said with a calm smile.

They keep taunting each other like that for a while, but in their heart, they knew nothing could come between their friendships. Even if Arvin didn't ask him to invite Erika, Oliver would do it anyway. Ava and Erika get along well so it will be more fun playing four people together. Oliver promised Ava to take her to the water park after they come back from Vegas but because of her calf injury, he delayed it until now.

At noon, Kiara walked into KNIGHT International in a white elegant dress. Arvin was still there discussing business with Oliver, seeing Kiara there he raised his eyebrows and looked at her appearance carefully.

"Hi Oliver, Arvin." Kiara came in carrying a lunch box in her hand and politely greeted Oliver and Arvin.

Arvin looked at his watch on his wrist and stood up, "Oliver, Kiara, I have to attend an important meeting so I'll leave now."

Oliver nodded, while Kiara waved to Arvin.

Oliver knew that Kiara would definitely come since he told her yesterday she could come, but suddenly he didn't feel disgusted at her company like he used to once. He liked Kiara's transformation. Oliver needed to keep Kiara in his hand because she was still valuable to him and also another reason was his grandparents.

"Oliver, I've brought lunch for you. I hope you haven't had lunch yet." Kiara took the heat preservation bag and walked to Oliver with a smile.

Oliver's eyes narrowed slightly when he realized that Kiara's recent appearance was very much like Ava's. She doesn't put red flaming lipstick anymore and her makeup was simple and elegant, it added a touch of femininity to her.

"What did you bring for me?" Oliver took her to the sofa and sat down.

"Japanese food, sushi, and Turkey fork." Kiara sat down happily and took out the food from the boxes.

Oliver looked at the rich lunch in front of him and suddenly, he thought of the food Ava prepared for him last night. The woman was hungry and wanted to eat with him. But when she couldn't find him here she went to the bay and sat there alone without even eating, how stupid!
