Beijing Tiantan Hospital.
Ava was sitting in her office drinking tea. Charlie went to Switzerland yesterday. He seems to have taken all the humor with him because suddenly the office atmosphere became very dull. No one was talking and laughing or chattering in her ear, Ava was really bored.
The colleagues in the office were all busy with their own things, some were resting, some were writing their papers, or studying case reports and the office was surprisingly quiet.
Ava was not busy today and she didn't like to sit idle so she tapped into her computer to surf the Internet. She was checking her microblog casually, and suddenly saw a message about "Midsummer Night Dream". The piano competition that held every six years was about to start their selection for the competition this year. All the famous pianists and music lovers in the world will gather around in Vienna to show their love for music. Just Ava won't go to that competition again.
Six years has changed a lot of things in Ava's life. Ava tapped her long and thin finger on the keyboard. She was born to play piano, but now her slender fingers only pick up the scalpel.
Playing music always made Ava happy and calm but now she has forgotten how happy she was when she used to play the piano. Ava liked playing music, not because she wanted to be admired or get famous. She just liked the feeling that music gave her. Through music, a lot of words could be expressed that were difficult for people to say out loud. It also can portray a beautiful picture in front of people.
Ava continued to browse the web, a six years old picture of her on that competition suddenly appeared on the screen. In the picture, she was wearing an elegant dress, her face was full of confidence, and she was sitting on the piano bench. Maybe people don't remember her anymore but Ava will always remember that day.
She gently closed the browser and put her head on her desk, her mind was full of Golden Hall, Vienna. Maybe that was her only chance in this life to play in that prestigious competition.
When Ava was a child, other children played with their dolls but she was busy learning piano. When others were tutoring, she was still busy playing the piano. Even at her prime teenage age when most boys and girls would talk or think about their crush or first love Ava's mind was full of Piano, but she never regretted it. She always felt a connection with music and thought music was an inseparable part of her life. And because of this music, she got to meet the most beautiful girl in the world who became the soul of her music.
They met at the Youth Palace when they were only five years old. Ava vaguely remembered a little figure with a violin in her hand walked slowly into the studio looking very frightened. At first, she was very quiet but when they started to talk they become friends instantly as if they already knew each other by heart. They started to play together and their understanding of each other made them the best music partners. In fact, they were an inseparable pair and everyone would tease them by calling Twins flames of each other. They once decided when they graduated, they will go for a world tour and play wherever they go so people all over the world could listen to their music. But she left, leaving Ava behind with a broken heart and some unfulfilled dreams.
It's not that Ava wouldn't be able to play now, of course, she would, her foundation was very strong but she knew even if she participated in the midsummer night dream competition, she wouldn't be able to win it again because music needs soul and without her partner, she has lost her soul and now her performance has become very shallow.
Ava was lost in her thoughts, recalling the past when Susan came to her quietly holding a box in her hand.
"Director Green, I brought a sugar puff for you." Susan smiled gently and gave the puff to Ava.
"Thank you, sister Susan. The carrot cake you made last time was so delicious that I still can feel the taste in my mouth." Ava took the box and said with a smile.
"If you like it I'll make one for you another time." Susan smiled and looked at her kindly.
"I'll leave some of the puff for Mia," Ava said as she opened the box of the pastry. Susan was well-known at the hospital for her baking and cooking, she could make any kind of food whether it was eastern or western.
"No, you can have it. I already brought one for Mia."
"Where's Mia?" Ava asked a bit puzzled. She hasn't seen her today. It's already lunchtime and usually, she would always come to Ava's office during lunchtime.
"I don't know, I haven't seen her since morning today," Susan said quietly.
The whole day went in a blur for both Oliver and Ava. As soon as Oliver got off work, he rushed into the hospital and waited for Ava to finish her work.
Today, Kiara stayed in his office for another afternoon. Oliver asked her not to come tomorrow. After all, it was his office and there were so many eyes in the company. He was also afraid that if Ava found out she will throw another tantrum over this. However, Kiara's massage techniques were so good that Oliver actually felt bad that he had to asked her not to come in the future.
Ava slowly walked out of the hospital carrying her handbag, Oliver immediately saw her and got out of the car. When Ava got near the car he opened the passenger door for her and stood there.
"Ava!" Oliver's thick magnetic voice sounded loud on the empty parking lot.
"Oliver, I missed you." Ava wrapped Oliver's waist and hugged him.
Oliver held her tightly and thought this happiness was so real. Regardless of the fact that they were in a public place Oliver lowered his head and kissed Ava passionately.
